This is what I used for my OB test, worked like a charm. V- variable --> C-cord compression E-early --> H-head compression A-accelerations--> O-okay L-late --> P- placenta insufficiency
V. C. M E. H. I A. O. N L. P. E V-variable decels =C-cord compression=M-move pt E-early decels=H-Head compression=I-identify labor progress A-acelerations=O-okay=N-nothing L-late decels=P-placental insuff.=E-emergency
I know this info is for nurses and doctors but this is helpful to me as a mom delivering soon. Having a better understanding will help me communicate my needs to my ob.
You just summed up my day. Had my preceptor just said what you said, all of the strips I looked at today would have made SO much more sense. Thank you for the explanations.
I LOVE your energy and the way you explain the physiology!! Great teacher!! I'm going to the Childbirth floor after 29 years of nursing--last 14 years on the dialysis unit and 15 years working mainly on surgical floor. Last time I was on the Childbirth floor was when I was a student. I'm looking forward to the change and I'm very excited!! I hope you keep putting more youtubes out there. I can't stand BORING teachers and you are absolutely NOT one of them. Thanks again!!! Cheryl Nevin, Waterloo, Ontario
I just aced a Pharm exam and have another exam on Monday. I've been studying, studying, studying, studying, studying, studying, studying. @.@' Thanks for the videos.

What is the order of interventions for late decelerations? I see different answers and it's confusing af...do you stop oxytocin first or change positions first? Does oxygen come 2nd or 3rd?
Teevee apparently VEAL CHOP The O is oxygen & comes 3rd... I am updating this video in the near future to make it like our new releases! Idk if you have seen them but they are WAYYYY BETTER!
+jenny calonges if the question says that the mom has been on pitocin and the fetus is experiencing distress then you would lower/stop the pit (depending on the severity of the decels) first, then turn her to increase placental sufficiency
Accels: 15bpm for 15 sec sounds bad. I think that's a misprint on the white board. Should probably be 15 beats during the course of a 15 sec contraction. Still good summary!
This is minor, but you aren't using your air quotes the right way. Don't air quote something unless the word is loosely defined in the context that you are making. Sorry, but you might be confusing some people. For example, don't air quote the word cervix because you are not using that term loosely.
i have that nst test today and i hear them than im late deceleration then lady ask me wat week im a and i said 32 weeks and they said its ok is that really ok?

does VEAL CHOP still apply?
Question: What if the mother is experiencing late deceleration's while on oxytocin? What is the correct order of nursing interventions then?
Lower or stop the pitocin infusion and turn mom on her side
+Alex Tirado do you turn mom on the side first or stop pitocin? this was a question on an exam
+Eamon Conheady - The FHR acceleration must be at least 15 bpm above the baseline and last 15 seconds
from baseline to baseline.
I need help
