- Today, I test ride the high-tech 2016 BMW S1000RR. This is the newest, hottest, fastest sportbike from germany with every feature imaginable. This video makes me miss my 2012 s1000rr. BMW makes an incredible sport bike, one day I will have another!
For those that don't know, the RPM is limited before the first 600 mile service.
The dealer removes it after the service.

Yeah they limit it within the first 500 miles I think due to bedding the engine and valves etc in
If you live in the LA area and want a BMW you should check out West Valley Cycles. It's small but they will get you a better deal than anyone else in LA without having to haggle them to death. Plus their labor rates are the cheapest around.
Actually there is a quick shifter in cars it's called tip tronic. You can drive it in automatic or shift using the tip tronic using the gear handle or the f1 shifter behind the wheel.
I have a question bro, i have a panigale and the heat from the subframe is crazy, does this RR has the same issue ? Because i am planning to get one
Is the quickshift is stock up and down both?
the rev limiter is in there when they are brand new so you dont stuff the engine, when you get the first service its removed :)

This is my favorite bike as of 2016, with the older models i hated the looks, but this years is so sexy, and i was liking the aprilia rsv4 but for some reason i dont like it as much as this bike and bmw is way more comfy than aprilia

You really want to see/experience this bike's potential? Get a full exhaust system on it. It will knock your socks off. Very. very powerful machine is the BMW S 1000RR.

True, you don't pamper a new engine, a crucial time for everything to seat properly, otherwise you might be stuck with a 'lazy' motor. But I would reckon this particular bike's limiter was set for good reason. Otherwise each test rider want to take it through the roof every time. I would!! LOL
Do u think it's good idea to start on this bike like the lower mode or something because u says it's easy to ride and control ??

Yes, I've done a few track day and now only mode i ride in is race mode.
Its a good idea, learn to crawl before you sprint to full power.
Just to be a jerk, it's technically 999cc not 1000 XD It is an amazing machine though, I've ridden it a few times (I work for BMW) and it's fantastic.

CA is the only state where it is legal.
"some kind of limiter..." eh?! Well; you should know that when engines are brand new, they should NEVER be pushed over a certain number of RPM's, usually the middle of the range. This is because new metal parts in the engine are going to rub against each other, creating metal shavings, until each moving part in the engine is "acclimated" to its surroundings and other parts that interact with it. The metal on metal action cuts little grooves in each metal part, thereby stabilizing the engine. This is when the engine is "worked in". Hence the rev. limiter, because they would not want you to damage the engine right off the bat. And you would have, since you were so surprised by the limiter.

Flat footing any sport bike is going to be very hard for you. I'm 5'10 and can barely flat foot my CBR600
I'm 170cm with 82cm inseam and I can flat both side of my feet on the ground with this bike..
+Kenneth Burke relax guy. Some of the best MotoGP riders are barely over 5ft and obviously they'll run circles around your slow ass. It's not the bike it's the rider ;)
break in period limiter. limited for the first 600mi
You should never rely on the neutral light....Put it where you think neutral is and then let the clutch out. IF it moves your not in neutral. I've seen plenty of people have a neutral light and the bike still bucks when they let the clutch out cause it is still in gear.
This bike is brand new, so that light better work lol
+Wicked Devil yeah but even though they are known to give false positives. it's rare but it does happen.
Change the mode if u dot want the RPM to be limited.
+khaled alkawaja Incorrect. It is factory limited to 8500RPM during break in. The only way to disable it is by having the dealer turn it off with BMW software. Turning it off before break in may void your warranty.

Riding a BMW S1000RR with the ECU limiting the power during the break in is like having sex without an erection.
Test ride it when after the limiter is removed. You wanna feel power pin the throttle and feel what it gives after 8000RPM.

Love this bike but I wish it had a fuel gauge
Hit the trip button to toggle through the screens on the LCD and it gives you the range with the fuel left in there.

It's a fantastic bike and limited to 9,000rpm until it's run it. After the first service they'll take the limiter off :) I still love the BMW S1000R but I'm into my naked bikes. Hope you don't mind but I re-posted this video on bikertalk.co.uk
The sad part is that the engine wakes up after 9 :P i think it goes to 14-15k
one thing i dont like about it is? cant rev it pass 8,thats really sad,,i beleve the more u rev it jst like a car the faster will go,and dont have keep on shif one afte the other .but anywa thats what i dont like about it.
