I was born in Albany. My dad hosted Circus Parade on WALB in the 70’s. We moved before my freshman year of high school. He got a job at a new company called The Weather Channel in Atlanta. Sadly, I only recognize the beautiful trees. I do miss my childhood there but it’s sad that it is so dangerous now.
Been gone from Albany for over 60 years, it’s pretty obvious things have changed and changed for the better. I loved that town, grew up there, both my parents, 3 bothers are buried at Riverside, may they RIP. The only thing you could add would be some sound as to exactly where you are driving. Thanks for the memories.
I really enjoyed your driving tour today. I traveled through Albany many times as a child on my way to my grandparents and other family in Cuthbert and Dawson. I saw many landmarks that I remember. Thanks for a wonderful tour.
Thank you for this, I left albany almost 17 years ago, and although I come back to see family, I'm usually in and out fast. It was good to see the city again.
This was fun! I was born and raised in Albany, left when I was 27 to find myself. My parents are still there and I get back occasionally. I was playing tour guide to myself as you drove through the city. From the BBQ restaurant that I worked at while in college, places I’d spent time. Places we lived (when you turned down Moultrie Road….oh my heart….we lived in that area for several years. Crossed Moultrie Road walking to the elementary school right there. Our church was just up the street. Too bad you didn’t go further down Radium Springs Road, lots of landmarks.

Oglethorpe is coming out soon!
I spent a year in Albany in 1972-73. NAS Albany. Sadly, nothing in this driving tour was familiar!!
Someone should make the filming locations of the movie fireproof since it was filmed in Albany.
Albany is one of those towns that would be great to stay if you worked remotely. Your money will go a long way.
