Lets assume it would take a while for them to recover the money spent on fixing it, but how long will they continue to sell at a high rate? They must tell Nigerians how long it would take them before they'll reduce the price.
They should not worry about reducing the gasoline price...they should focus on the social welfare card they are working on and send money to very low-income households to subsidize the cost. Let the Rich pay from their stolen loot and largesse. So even if the price of PMS goes down, keep it where it is as a small tax. We need to at least consider consumption taxes since we have a lot of untaxed sectors in the Nigerian economy.
Unlike the coverage of the Port Harcourt refinery I watched in of the Arise News programs this morning at least there is some optimism shown in this discussion than criticism and negativity.
This Jide knows Jack on economics. The nan should just shut up. How can your currency get stronger when you supporting petroleum marketers to import refined products. Focusing on Cardoso rather than the president who should be finding ways to drive up local production for basic things like food. No one is asking Nigeria to develop rocket technology, just grow food.
I’m afraid Otitoju does not understand economics. He should stick to politics. He’s totally wrong about how the cost of fuel will come down . Competition between producers internally is what will bring it down . Not spuriously chasing the value of the dollar .
His very correct because there is no competition to bring it down below the cost of crude oil because the crude oil is selling all over the world in dollars and if the price of crude oil is high or low the price will go up or down follow the price nobody will sell below the costs
Otitoju has said it all,the refinery should should be managed by private Company.
