As a Slovak, you got my instant respect, when you said at the beginning, where is our country and that we are central Europe. It´s nice to see anyone, who know where we are.
yeah specially american. its better than me. i don't know where is Pennsylvania from top of my head.
As a Slovak, I’ve never understood why we’re so obsessed with being called 'Central European.' Does it come with a trophy or something? Honestly, I’ve heard so many country names that if someone asked me where half of them are, I wouldn’t even know what continent they’re on. Maybe we should rebrand as the 'Perpetually Confused European' nation. At least it’d be unique!
@@patrikmeri Central European comes from geolocation of Slovakia... It´s neither in West, not in East, nor in North and even not in South...
The reads like:
"Us Superior Slovaks living in Central Europe, as opposed to all the little people living in primitive tribes in Eastern Europe and having the AUDACITY to call themselves "countries"."

I visited Slovakia in 2018 and the people are so nice there. One of my favourite memories was walking past a townhall and an event had just finished so the townsfolk started spilling out onto the street. All the kids were dressed in traditional Kroj outfits and looked so amazing. They were so proud of their heritage and were more than happy to let me take some photos with them. I will never forget their hospitality.
Def. u should come back :)
Oh shoot, I think you might have met my cousin there, she wears kroj when she's on stage
As a slovak, I´m so glad to hear this and that you have such a great memory right from us 😍
Thanks!🥰
@nobody-knows464 no idea but it was a venue near the President's Palace (iirc The Cathedral of Saint John)

@@cestovatel_kaktus napísal ste to super .👍👍👍 Ozaj okrem mora máme všetko len to nevieme využiť.A niektorí si to ani nevedia vážiť.Je krásne to naše Slovensko.♥️♥️♥️♥️
Hej to je pravda 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤟👍👍❤❤
I'm from Slovakia Ahoj❤
Ale máme také menšie more. :D Zemplínsku šíravu :D Ona má prezývku slovenské more.
Count Maurice Beňovský was a Slovak adventurer, traveler, explorer, colonizer, writer, king of Madagascar, colonel of the French army, commander of the Polish army and Austrian soldier. He was the first European to sail in the North Pacific Ocean, the first European to sail in the North Pacific - he explored the west coast of Alaska, the first Slovak to visit four continents (Europe, Asia, Africa, America), the first person to explore the Island of St. Lawrence.
In 1777 he became a close friend of Benjamin Franklin, who also became a family friend of Beňovský's two daughters.
Btw, brown bears are found in Poland, Ukraine, Romania (largest population in Europe), Bulgaria, Hungary, Scandinavia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Spain, Greece and Russia

Benyovszky Móric, and Hungarian. Everything is Hungarian in "Slovakia". Those buildings were built in Hungary, Slovakia is 30 years old. Even the name Bratislava is a fake Slavic name.
@@timeanagy8495They were built in the land historically inhabited by Slavs which was invaded by Hungarian tribes. And built they were by Slavic hands. So please calm down and heal your complexes:)
@Samuel-im8mj historically there were no slavs. Only some, but huns were majority. Half of the land was empty. We invited germans to live there. Plus rusyns, czechs, croatians, poles etc. arrived.

Toto je asi najlepsie propagacne video Slovenska ake so doteraz videl. A toto video hovori pravdu! Dakujem.
This is probably the best promotional video of Slovakia I have ever seen. And this video tells the truth! Thank you.

Some trivia for you: you mentioned greenery, Slovak republic is the 2nd greenest country in Europe, right after Finland. We also have the most castles, fortresses and ruins of them per capita in the world, which were primarily to secure trade routes of amber, salt, gold and silver and later in 17 and 18th century to repel deep invasion of Ottoman Empire into Europe, and that is as far as it ever gone. Devin was made into ruin of its former glory by cannons ordered by Napoleon Bonaparte himself.
Speaking of High Tatras, many who visited Alps remarked that Tatras might not have the grandiose scale of Alps, but they have the most densiest of all alpine beauty packed in one place.
Čoskoro už najzelencsia republika nebudeme, Fico vo veľkom výrubu je lesy. Áno, do zahraničia. A vodu ktorú ešte zatiaľ máme, zničí a znecisti čínska baterkaren.
nci nemohli robiť takéto záškodnícke a proti krajine a ĺuďom katastrrofy. Každý musí niesť za svoje činy zodpovednosť. Žiadna imunita!!! A plat priemerný, nie taký ako im neprináleží. Čo sú oni? A o psycho poslancov ani nehovorím. Nemôžu zastávať taký post, ktorý ovplyvňuje celý chod krajiny a životy ĺudí. Psychologický test musí absolvovať každý poslanec.

another trivia, almost 2000 years ago, Roman soldiers were present in the territory of Trenčín. This is evidenced by an inscription carved into a massive rock cliff. The historical inscription from 179 is one of the few Roman written records confirming the presence of Romans in Central Europe. The Roman inscription on the castle rock below Trenčín Castle was carved to commemorate the Romans’ victory over the Germanic tribes of the Quadi. the translation: “To the victory of the emperors and the army of 855 soldiers of the Second Legion that was based at Laugaricio. Made to order of Marcus Valerius Maximianus, a legate of the Second Auxiliary Legion.”

Slovakia is a small but at the same time big country! It is beautiful, has mountains, caves, castles, chateaux, beautiful girls and especially a historical capitol city with a castle but also modern with a UFO tower and a skyscrapers. It is currently being built 260m high and will be among the tallest in the EU when completed. This video was already quite old, check out even newer videos of Bratislava! And I recommend also seeing Trenčín Castle and Košice, the second largest city in the country where there is a beautiful large Gothic cathedral, which is the easternmost built in all of Europe!
Slovakia has the highest density of castles per area. Many times you can see next four castles from castle. It's was good for communication by light signals on high distance. Like a Gondor and Rohan :D
Yes! I saw a picture the other day with Gýmeš Castle (close to Nitra city, a bit south part of Slovakia) and Trenčín castle (close to the Czech borders, northern part of Slovakia) together in one picture! The author also explained the way he took the picture (the weather and the location played the key role of course).
My husband is from Slovakia - beautiful country, glad you watched this!
I love Slovakia and i from Slovakia
As a Slovak, I’m so happy to see that our country is full of gems appreciated even by people from abroad. And there is so much more-majestic waterfalls, breathtaking lakes and dams, and an incredible number of caves! Slovakia has over 7,000 caves, but only 18 are officially accessible to the public.
Btw, Bojnice castle (you've mentioned it as Disney castle :D ) is fully functional castle, where u can rent a room, and is place for many weddings... Ofc, u can do many activities inside, or around castle... I can recommend horse driving (u can learn basics, if u dont know, and trip on horse's back is unforgetable)...
To ste asi ešte nevideli zámok Vígĺaš vynovený.Nádhera.

There is a small population of bears in the eastern part of the Czech Republic, but they came from Slovakia more recently in the 1970s. In the past they were common in most parts of the country, but they were hunted on a large scale in the 18th century. The last documented in the region bordering Bavaria is around the middle of the 19th century.
One of the hidden gems of Slovakia that is unique and not mentioned in the video is *Dobšiná Ice Cave* .
And speaking of caves of which there is plenty, dont forget the Ochtinska Aragonite cave, which is one of only 3 (!) caves in the world, where aragonite crystals are growing.
Sad that these caves are massively melting
As a Slovakian, during my PhD studies I used to live in ,,Devín,, area. Very nice place to be surrounded by a green color. I am also impressed by your connections and thoughts. You seem to be smart.

Good job, thank you for sharing this video about my home. Slovakia is a tiny country with many picturesque places ❤
I am watching videos on youtube about the nature in your country and in America in general with the similar thoughts as you have about Slovakia, you have amazing nature and animals and i really would love to see it one day in real life.
It's nice to see such an educational video from someone who is from abroad or a tourist. In any case, for a period I used to live near Bratislava Castle. Walking through the courtyard into the city every day has its charms.
I used to live in the states & the country is fabulous! My jaw dropped many times I was stunned by the beauty of rhe country and the kind and amazing people! ❤
Fun fact: The Devin castle was destroyed by Napoleons Army.
Hey there, Lubovna native here - yes, the tower's roof was reconstructed pretty recently. It burned down in (I think) the 19th century and had been in ruins since then. Much of the castle was ruined until the beginning of this century, actually, but now it's being very actively repaired - there's something new almost every year. It's a great place to visit!

Hi! From Bratislava it's
McJibbin, thank you for your nice video about my country. I live under High Tatras mountains, near the Spis castle. The 4 pillars you were asking is the remainings of the first fortification wooden wall.
If you want to visit Slovakia, make some hike into High Tatras or Slovak Paradise, just write me a message, I will be more than pleased to go with you and show you some very interesting routes.
Have a nice day.
and btw. Moric Benovsky, was a Slovak traveller, inventor, writer etc. Really a famous person here in Slovakia. Also appointed as a King of Madagaskar :D
Spiš castle was used in movie Dragon Heart (1996) as Avalon. There was just digitally added sea around it and roof on that tower.
Hi.... dude from Slovakia here... :D
Thank you for great reaction to a video about my country.
I am pleasantly surprised by your knowledge about Slovakia (the things you've said before starting the reaction). Many Americans do not even know that my country exist.
And... well, yes... the nature is beautiful here and the brown bear is overpopulated in the mountains which started to be quite terrifying in the last few years. But I think this bear is not in Germany or Austria, because I heard that all bear population was eliminated at least in Austria. Maybe we should sell them some. :D
OK, thank you for your video, have more fun and you are welcomed here. :)

Czechoslovakia, or rather the Czech and Slovak Federative Republic, did not split immediately after the gentle revolution (better known as the velvet revolution) in 1989, but 3 years later in 1992, exactly on 31.12.1992 and on 01.01.1993, two independent states were established, the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. In 1968, the Constitutional Act established a federation and the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic consisted of the Czech Socialist Republic and the Slovak Socialist Republic. The capital of the Czech Republic and at the same time the Czechoslovak Republic was Prague, and the capital of the Slovak Republic was Bratislava. So Bratislava has been the capital since at least 1968. I will not bother you with earlier history...

King on Madagaskar, Benovsky was Slovak. So he was a prisoner probably before his journey.
Benyovszky was a Hungarian-Polish mix with unknown/uncertain date of birth, who corresponded with his family in Hungarian, and presented himself with overblown adventures in the 18th century. Incidentally - any map from the period indicating a land called "Slovakia"? No? What a pity....
@@peterbalogh8138 Well, "Slovakia" did not pop-up out of nowhere, like some magic. Those people were there since probably year 600 a.d. and now they rule there themselves. And who knows, maybe in 100 year there will be no Hungary on maps, it will be Unites states of Europe ...lol, or just WW3 wasteland
@@LuboCirdan I suppose Benyovszky himself would be most puzzled to be called "Slovak". And while I have no problem with ruling themselves (but not overlording others, mind you - the Slovakian Magyars had no saying in whether they accept becoming minority, in the name of Wilsonian "self-determination, especially where they are the majority right across the border), I do have a problem on inventing history and claiming historical personalities.
@@peterbalogh8138 He was born from hungarian-polish origin parents living in (nowaday Slovakia) part of Habsburg monarchy (or Austrian monarchy). So he can be any of that, he probably reffered himself as hungarian-polish or even austrian, Because Austria was more well-known in world. ....BTW: There were also germans living there so it is shame his parents were not from german origins, because then Germany could also claim him :D :D ...or even Israel if he was jewish. :D ....EDIT: Columbus was an italian, but is hero in Spain. If Benyovszky succeeded in Madagascar under France, then he would by claimed also by France.

The Country alone as a state is young, but the Slovak Nation lives here very long. According to genealogic studies, Slovaks holds the oldest ethnicity in Europe - we are living on this land over 8000 years. The second oldest nation in Europe on their land is the nation of Wales - over 6000 years.

On the Southern border we also have beautiful places also in middle southern range have been found Sapphires. But these places are pretty much forgotten and being left to crumble such as castles, noble mansions. If you go to Muráň there is the 3rd highest placed castle in Slovakia. There is also the Castle of Fiľakovo which also survived Mongol Invasion in 1241-1242, in the 16th century it was also one of the most Northern most Castles occupied by the Ottoman empire together with the ruins of a fortress in Rimavská Sobota.

@McJibbin Hey, big thanx and respect for advertising my beautiful country to the world! Just a small correction: Yes, Slovakia exists since 1993, but not as a result of the Velvet Revolution. That revolution was something else - it happened in 1989 and the point was to get rid of the communist regime. In that time it was still Czechoslovakia, one country. Then, some years later, in 1993, the country was split into two countries.

Yes, brown bears are common in Germany as well. France probably too.
Also, Spis Castle was one of the locations, where the movie Dragon Heart was made.
Slovakia has many castles on hills, because some important merchant routs were here...
Orava Castle was often used for movies. (We have many great fairytales)
But from foregin productions, there some scenes from Dragon heart was filmed here and you can recognize High Tatras in Eragon

Maurice Benovsky was a Slovak adventurer who sailed to Madagascar in the 18th century, where he formed strong alliances with the local tribes. The people of Madagascar elected him as the 'King of Madagascar,' although this was more symbolic than officially recognized by European standards.
The SPIS castle reminds me of the Belogradchik fortress in Bulgaria.
Thanks man for compliments our country❤
I know it's beutiful and 70% of that places i was visit cuz my family don't like traveling to the other countries so we are traveling our country :D
America reacting to our country is epic 💪🇸🇰
Im pleased by your knowledge at such a young age.
Slovakia actually has the highest number of castles per capital in the world. We have 180 castles and over 400 huge historical “mansions” (theres not a right word for it in US English)
And yes, we have currently a huge bear and wolf issues as they were forbidden to shoot 👀 (and you were right, Germans dont have them)
Bratislava is actually a small capital but the surrounding is beautiful.
(One more funky fact - we do have the anofeles mosquitos here but no malaria and as you already probably have found out the king of Madagascar was a Slovak guy at one point) 😂
Brit bought property in high Tatra's for a 3rd of cost of UK and ten times the size with 100x better views.

Yes we are technicly "the Heart of Europe" there is a Lot of nice places in our country like natural hikes through mountains 😊
Those things at the castle you asked are basically pillers they tied the serfs to if they didn't oay their taxes to the lord
Btw we also have an ancient forest with ancient beech trees

Another interesting fact....there are many wild animals in Slovakia...bear, wolf, lynx, etc...the most interesting is probably the European bison, which lives in the northeast of Slovakia...the Poloniny National Park...this park is also considered a "dark sky park"...this means that the light smog from the cities is very small there....😉

1. Your knowledge about Europe (and Slovakia) is very good (for an American....it is like for me if I would know details about Alabama).
2. Your kind of videos connects people, as it shows we are all very similar and friendly.
3. Brown bears: Yes there are brown bears even in Germany and France. But there are very few there, most got killed during the 18th and 19th century. The more to the east you go, the more bears you will find...also more national parks where those animals can florish. BTW we also have bobcats, wolfs, foxes, eagles, black bears and many many more.
4. Man, come visit! I will garantee you a great time for not alot of money.
P.S. You got a new subscriber!

I am from Slovakia
Nowhere else in the world is there such a number of castles and chateaux per capita as in Slovakia. There are 180 castles and 425 manor houses in the country. Many of them have been preserved, but there are also those of which only ruins remain today.
Nice video!!! I am from Slovakia. It is amazing country. Nice people, diferents people habits, castles, food...
If somebody come here to visit, try local food, in every region is different, different taste. And always try local beer and destilled alcohol Slivovica, Jablkovica, but not from big store, from small destilery shops...
In Slovakia is much more to explore, in this short video is only 1/1000 things you can explore in Slovakia
It always gets me a good feeling when somebody talks good about my country🇸🇰♥. And yes one slovak person was the king of Madagascar.
