Build is looking hella good. While you don't want a spike wall, maybe a fence like a ranch would help with at least the small critters like direwolves, raptors, sabers and terrorbirds?
Learning that Syntac doesn't usually play with game audio on, when combined with the knowledge that his microphone usually covers his status HUD in the lower-right, helps further explain how he goes so long hungry and/or thirsty in-game without seeming to notice, as he isn't hearing his character's constant groans in addition to not seeing the flashing icon on the HUD. So, all he has to go by is the subtly flashing purple border on the screen. 😅
Also explains how the constant Jerboa noises haven't driven him mad yet I guess.

I will never understand how people can play like that, my friend is the exact same remove game audio/music, when imo audio/music is so so important for atmosphere etc (then again im definitely audio based since i tend to hear abilities going off etc to know when its on cd) but yeh audio makes or breaks games imo especially horror genre ^^

I do think people underestimate how long syntac takes with his build (i mean they all look absolutely great 95% of the time) i think alot od people take their time just planning and seriously thinking about their builds it will come a long way to make a cool looking base, and ofcourse practice makes perfect

The thin pillars do have fronteir variants its just they dont get highlighted when holding the building skin.
I think you should put a vault, desk and chair, and a beer barrel in the secret room. Make it into the Madam’s office.

Have one dino on passive and have all you other dinos follow it. Then place it in a safe ish location. All your other dinos will attack things, but then always go back to the passive dino and you won't have to worry about them running off.

This is how you create dimo turrets that can shred anything. A flock of aggressive dimos following a dodo or whatever that's sealed inside a building. No more worrying about bad neighbors! On Scorched you could use vultures and a gerboa maybe?
Maybe you should name the Saloon after Lucky like The Lucky Wolf Saloon?

It would also be good if he left off the Saloon portion and called it "The Lucky Wolf". It gives me the same vibes as "The Ugly Duckling" from Disney's Tangled or "The Happy Bunny Tavern" from Kung Fu Panda 4. But either name is great!

How about the Whipcrack Saloon - everyone's using whips, and it seems like a totally normal accessory for the totally normal saloon bedroom. Just hanging around, cracking some whips with the boys 🗿
I also thought of the saloon in armadillo. Heather really knows her stuff
So you could do a private estate on the edge of the western town as your base. Have a stable and other things needed on the property but behind your main house so it doesn't look like your base is crowding the town.
That secret room in the saloon would probably work for a hidden power generator later on.

@Syntac!!! Some thoughts on the Water Reservoir:
1. Use fence foundations on the middle of the exagon bellow the water reservoir to aligh it perfectly.
2. Use the fence foundations to connect thin pillars on the middle and going down to emulate pipes coming down from the reservoir and place a water tap on the side with a pot plant bellow it to emulate a water bucket :)
Welp, called it. You build a fence or you build a graveyard. Learned that the hard way.
Megatheriums are absolutely terrifying on Scorched Earth, because there are insects literally around every corner. Titanomyrma, Meganeura, jug bugs, arthros, scorpions, dung beetles, you name it, they are everywhere and it's hard to find a spot where a Megatherium can spawn without an insect in aggro range.
And when they are Enraged, they will tear even a Rex a new one like it was a warmup exercise. Only a Giga or Carchar exceeds the raw damage output of an enraged Megatherium.

Agreed. One of the first things I do, even before any buildings other then a small work area, is build walls. And considering the Old West feeling a palisade fits in
And a few gates literally take about 10-15 minutes to set up. No more issues. I get really upset when I lose tames, especially higher level harder to find ones, so gates are a big priority for me.
Got an idea. Maybe build a large barn for the more important creatures with feeding troughs and storage for taming suff. What about a fence off rance/farm area for breading and crop farming?
I like the ranch idea can probably make a barn for the creatures at the same time
You can switch the thin pillars to frontier pack, it just doesnt show the green thing for some reason, but there is a skin for it, and its awesome
Hey Syn, an idea for outside the saloon: if you can make ceilings glass like the walls, you could put an empty feeding trough up against the base of the saloon and snap a ceiling from underneath so that it covers the trough (or intersects slightly below the top) and it would look like it was full of water. Just an idea I had while watching you change the walls to glass

I used to work at a saloon that was in an old ghost town turned tourist attraction and the building was actually made out of adobe. It was so cool! This build would have been cool in adobe too!
I love the water tower. I was worried about that spot looking awkward, but the tower is the perfect solution.
I actually like the floor being different it was a neat little pattern.
So I have an idea for a saloon name. Wild west saloons were named thematically, eg. if a towns main buisness was cow livestock it might have been named The Thirsty Bull (and variations for other themes) now I'm thinking Arkanize that so it would be The Thirsty Rex/Wyvern or other creatures.
That hidden second floor room could be a shared bath area. Use an empty feeding trough as a bathtub and it fits with the water tower. Baths are a specialty in your bro.. saloon. Looks amazing though!
I suggest adding more signs inside the building, too, with things like the rules of the saloon, costs of drinks and hooke-uhhh, upstairs lodging accommodations. Oh, and lots of wanted posters.

@@Shadowspets Oh, they could still have one up in the saloon, to catch a particularly notorious criminal. Although there aren't any beaver dams to leave wood inside on this map, so I'm not sure anyone can quite reach that level of dastardly.
Just letting you know that the thin pillars actually have a frontier skin it just doesnt outline it with the green shadow properly becaus it vanishes completley inside the pillar but if you aim your crosshair directly at the thin pillar you can change it to the frontier one.
The tower looks great next to it, I'd just leave it the way it is. Nice build man 🎉
Just some tips, suggestions and corrections from a fellow builder.
6:40 Place a wall on the foundation then snap to the wall then remove the wall. From then, only snap to other ceilings. If it still isn't correct, snap some foundations in an L shape and place the wall perpendicular to the original placement and try again.
11:36 Remember you can use Q to change the placement location. You don't have to jump.
17:49 There is a frontier variant of the thin pillar. I haven't tried it on wood (It definitely works on adobe) but it is thinner than most so often the overlay doesn't show. Personally I think the default wood looks better in this case.
22:10 As a little tid bit of knowledge, you can also use the glass skin on actual windows (the door piece) to get a smaller version. (Edit: already knows this 35:52)
33:00 I find that snapping pillars to the center of the spiral takes the edge off a little. (Edit: has done this 47:50)
43:11 It is better to apply the skin first before writing on the sign as the font size scaling becomes warped when you apply the skin. It hasn't affected your build but it's something to keep in mind.
53:25 I've wanted a full quarter set since the start of ASA but no dice yet. (Sloped Wall/Roof/Triangle Roof/Half Railing etc)
55:40 If you want to make it more functional, build themed structures (workshop/smithy/farms). It would make ferrying resources around annoying but the town could function as a base. Maybe you can unlock all the structures and you and the boys can all use it, or just tribe up. Whatever works.
Loved the build, water tower included. Personally would be better to have a slightly smaller platform on the tower. You can achieve this through carefull application of pillars, snapping traingle ceilings together and separating each one with quater ceilings. You'll end up with some overlap at the center but it shouldn't be that noticeable. A quater set would make this easy. Wildcard please.

32:30 I live in a historic district, and one of the homes I lived in had stairs like that. I almost broke my neck numerous times falling down those things. You have to make sure to keep to the outside of the tread, or you will slip down the stairs. Seen it happen around here dozens of times on home tours.

Oh and Saloon should be named Lucky's or something that would remind us of Lucky the clever wolf

Thats a sick built Syntac, I love it. You mentioned barrels on the outside. When u showed the front of it the first thing popped in mind was a couple of railings on either side of the entrance, just a few feet away from the actual structure and park some horses in front of em. :)
Love seeing your builds - you always say you are not good at building but I love everything you create, even the hamburger house lol.
The small pillars do have a frontier version, it just is weird wi5h wood pillars. Works on Adobe tho

You still have the extra dodics? Set one up as an anchors for your other dinos. Pritty much set it somewhere and have everything else 'follow' it, then when stuff attacks they will defend but wont run off and be scattered all over, they will run back to whoever they are following. You can set up a few stations with tames following to keep wilds at bay. Dodics are good for this due to their high health and damage reduction by curling when they get low. Granted, the first thing you should have done is build a temp barn to house your dinos in, to avoid wilds from attacking your vital stuff. Last: Lucky Dog Saloon.
name suggestion: The Boneyard Saloon - for the big ribcage in the ground next to the saloon, as well as all of the "friends" lost along the way to get it built v.v plus the constant death on Scorched Earth makes the entire map nothing but a boneyard LOL. hitching posts out front for horses could be a nice touch!

Another nice touch for the water tower aesthetic is adding thin pillars in the middle of the hexagon to act as the "pipe". wood looks round as you have show, stone and metal looks square with stone looking the best to me.
Those stairs look like the ones leading up to my flat no joke. I don’t know how I haven’t tumbled after a night out honestly 😂

Galli's Watering Hole? I really love this design! Now only some hitching posts in front for the horses and a food through or 2 for them and it's a real western town already lol
I'm hoping this town will have a main road or an alley with buildings on either side, perfect for showdowns.
Can we all just accept that ASA is a roleplayer's dream? The building is perfect for roleplay servers and with bob's tall tales even better for western-like servers. Loved the saloon syntac! I will play ASA soon, hopefully

Saloon looks great! ... You may want to build a "Stable" next ... gotta have a place for travelers to board their steeds ... and save them from the local wildlife ... and the stable could have a fenced area in the back that wouldn't look out of place.
You can actually apply the skin to the thin pillar, but you can't see it because it's even thinner
The whole Western town reminds me of this funny game called last train outta worm town, would love to see you and the boys play it on sossage party, it's hilarious just seeing one of you jump 50 meters into the air as a giant sandworm and chase down everyone elae as they try to get the train started
This looks really good! I love the western feel of it. I cannot wait for this series to progress. It's going to be so cool. I feel like Ark is finally leaning into the PVE side and it feels really good to be gaining stuff instead of all of our dinos being nerfed. (RIP Managarmr's dashing across the map)
Suggestions for the build:
•Cap the Water Tower with a hexagon angled roof.
•Hitching Posts for horses out front.
•I believe they added a bell in the frontier pack, you could have that on the roof by the sign as a way to signal "Come to the saloon! We're open!"
If he puts a roof on the reservoir it won’t fill up

I haven’t finished the video so i don’t know if you realized this, but you can put frontier skins on the skinny pillar. They are just small and you can’t see the outline that says you can.
The Watertower is directly in front of the bedroom window and so is the rope ladder. Now you can hang on that ladder watch ppl do whatever they're doing in there. 😂

The thin pillars do have a frontier variant, it's just squared so it's hard to tell. If you look directly at the pillar when putting the skin it will change, definitely hard to tell tho
Secret doors that lead to the "water closet" for cleaning up afterwards. Also think that little storage area would be better open to the lower floor since saloons usually have a open balcony on the inside you can see from the lower area were the "Employees' would stand beside their room.
If gigantopithecus spawn on the map you could get one as a bartender and call it Saloon Baboon. A corral for your animals might help and be thematic.

Syntac!!! The description for the windmill changed in ASA. I'll quote it. "Converts the force of the wind into electricity, also reduces fuel consumption and heat damage of nearby gas generators. More effective at high wind speeds." Even if they aren't the greatest for electricity at your location, some wind should, in theory, at least partially reduce your fuel consumption. Benefits :D

Really nice build. My thought is that the "Saloon" sign could be moved over to along that front railing so it does not block the door. But other than that, it looks really nice.
must say the build looks amazing and love that the watertower reaches all of the saloon, the planned building next to it and the front of the big planned building in front of the water tower. also I think you should keep the trim as we don't want OSHA coming to fine you're character
The Roamin' Gali would be a great saloon name.
You could also add your base to town by living in the mayor's mansion and keep your tames in the stables or a nearby ranch

Every western town had a corral and barn to hold mounts. Might want to add benches out front of the saloon along with a place to tie up mounts and a water trough for them too.
Maybe if you don’t want spike walls surrounding the whole thing, you could make a small pasture with fences/rails that will keep pretty much everything currently pestering you away from your tames. Could also build on to it later and make a barn
I think the platform around the reservoir is a nice touch. If anything I think it could use a roof to match the size of the platform. Nice job!
Loved it! Couple ideas I had were caps lock for "SALOON" on the front and for the upstairs extra space next to the bedrooms, it could be cool to turn it into a hangout porch accessible by both bedrooms. Either way keep it up! 🤘

Loved the build! I would have made the Saloon a square with 2 rows of triangles on one side for the angle corner. I like how you decided to take a more unique and difficult route because it turned out amazing!
I love how syntac describes the purpose of an extra floor in a saloon in a roundabout way, even he though he planned to make the doedic male make baby doedics with its mother and sister.
you could put a wardrobe/storage in the corners of the bedrooms to cover the parts where the rooms overlap into each other? maybe? possibly? sweet build though!

Also you are correct that windows in the back of the main room wouldn't really be a thing. There would be a storage room (or access to a basement for storage), then the wall would have the big mirror/booze shelving with the bar in front. No reason to have window to a storage room.
Don't forget about hitching posts outside the saloon! That's a staple! Would be great if you had another horse hitched onto it too
Seeing the inside complete will be awesome! I don't really care for the walk around on your water tower though.
You could make the secret room a generator room for the air cons, and maybe turret ammo storage
