I am fairly certain that Toonami had anime long before 2008. I recall watching DBZ, YuYu Hakusho and Ruroni Kenshin on Toonami around the time when I was in middle school, which was around 2003-2005 or so. By 2008 I was a junior/senior is high school and was mostly watching anime on Adult Swim.
