No doubt the best pop group ever....
The vocals for this song was recorded back in the 70s when they were in their prime. That's why their voices sounds strong and high-pitched. This song was made in the 70s but never released. They've now perfected it and improved upon it for its new release. This song sounds just incredible. It's really got the soul of their 70s spirit. ABBA is timeless!
In these times of Pandemic strife, Abba's new songs elevate me back to the 70's in a way I put aside today's issues, if even a short while . This song is so well done and the girls vocals are unbelievable for their age. The whole production is very high end. This song seems to have the most western influence I've ever heard of all their songs. Love love love it.
Amazing song. There are very few artists who can sing so well in harmony, write great lyrics and composition. Amazing.
To 'Just A Notion' I want to dance more than to 'Don't Shut Me Down'. Their rock'n'roll songs, like this one, sounds awesome

That "grooviness" is mainly from that rock 'n' roll shuffle beat. It just feels great. It's got a certain "swing" to it (and of course, as the 1940's generation told us, "it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!") Btw, ABBA's old song 'Why Did It Have To Be Me?" has a similar fun feel. Cheers.
They are in their 70s here and still sound amazing.
The vocals were recorded years ago, in the 70’s.
But there are some additions with actual vocals. Let me know if you don't find the part.

It sounds like the last couple of lines are also from back then, albeit not included on ABBA Undeleted. If not - if they recorded it _recently_ - then wow, that really would be incredible. I'd gladly stand corrected.

"Just a Notion"
is ABBA's third single from the upcoming new album "Voyage"
It is a curious and unique case at the same time, it was a song that they recorded in 1978 during the previous sessions for the future album "Voulez Vous"
but later they discarded it
And now in this fantastic comeback ABBA retouches it and finally edits it
So it has the double character of old and new song at the same time, recorded between 43 years (quite a record), it has the charm of old and new together, and sounds wonderful
I must admit that I do not like disco or dance music
I enjoy it more listening to it relaxed
That's why "Voulez Vous" is not on my favorite ABBA album
but "Just a Notion" is a terribly addictive song, impossible to resist dancing to it
Its melody is beautiful, catchy and cheerful, the lyrics are pleasant, the voices are spectacular (there are great tones from Agnetha, the union with Frida is of excellence and those
A-HA-HA are a brand that is etched in your mind)
It's also a great musical production (the saxophone and the piano shine) and the ending is a beauty
It gives me the impression that "Just a Notion" is a great piece that stayed with the spirit of the versatility of "ABBA The Album" and has not yet been impregnated with the disco sound of "Voulez Vous"
but welcome that now ABBA reconsidered it to include it in the new "Voyage" album

Thanks for the ABBA. This was a unfinished song from 78. So the vocals are them in younger days. I'm not putting it down. I'm really glad they finished it and released it. But for me the real star of this is Benny. I've heard the original backing and this is all new. Benny's keyboards and the honkytonk feel really bring it to life. This really has a feel like the stuff he does with his orchestra today. Great stuff. Hope theres more like this on the album.

I noticed that somebody already mentioned it, but the vocals to this song were recorded in 77. The music was recorded live in 2021. They put them together for this song.

Although originally written in 1978, I find it has more of a "Waterloo" sound to it. Absolutely love it; especially with the re-worked instrumentals and backing tracks of today. It sounds so much more polished. Great job, guys! Thank you, Schnell, for another wonderful reaction!

I knew ABBA was big in the world with its sound, but seeing so many people get touched by their music really does me a stir in my soul! When they made their breakthrough in the 1970s, the media did not exist in this way as it does today. When I look at different reactions, I get warm in my heart and have little hope for humanity. That when the music can unite is incredibly wonderful. If any group can do this, it's ABBA with its catchy music. Greetings from Sweden!
The most precious thing you can have as a band is to be able to brand your music so that everyone knows who's song it is when they've never heard the song before. ABBA has that in spades.
The other thing about Agnetha and Frida is that they are such accomplished singers they can effortlessly belt out various vocal 'idioms' at the drop of a hat. I'm thinking of the husky "A-ha A-ha" backing lines amongst many others. And their timing as well as vocal tone, weighting and tapering is just perfect.
The vocals and song was recorded 1978, so you hear the old voices combined with new ”added” instruments and arrangements from 2021.
This song did not make it to any album and was ”deleted” by ABBA then.
It's old vocals basically from way back from 78, now re-worked
4th impact (Philippine sisters) doing "never enough". Only version I have heard with harmonies. Doesn't disappoint.

This song is so Swedish 70s dansband (jitterbug, pairs and foxtrot dance music) style of music. It’s a very distinct genre with a passionate following.
The music is the abba sound only they can do what makes they so catchy even if there is some instruments of influences.
Search for dansband or dansbandsmusik and look for videos with the most outrageous 70 costumes and you’ll see that it’s not unique to ABBA. The two female voices are quite unique and sets them apart but instrumentally it could be any of these Swedish bands in the genre.
@@Jonsson474 its not iv heard the music and do not hear abba in the instruments only influences here and there because abbas music is pure joy when it all comes together even if the lyrics are sad thats there ability. they took there influences mixed them together and created there own sound. theres a reason why they are still played all over the world even in africa.
@@Jonsson474 there costumes were not outrageous late 70s they had good fashion then australian tour wembley.
It was always that fun to go dancing on Disco in the 70s,cause the Music was happy at that time 💞💕

03:28 The reason the voices are strong is because they were recorded in 1978. It was too good to be true. :-) Agnetha's aged voice is in the outro (at 06:18 in your video).
All vocals are from 1978. No new vocals were recorded as confirmed by both Björn and Görel.
@@discogareth Anyway they sing fantastic today too!!! You don't know their biological age. They can be 15 years younger. Depends on their DNA and genes!
@@discogareth I know but I think those statements were about the main part of the vocals. The two lines in the outro are clearly sung by the aged Agnetha. There could be new backing vocals too.
@@agnetamalmqvist9075 They sing great but especially Agnetha should not be put side by side with the younger version of herself and not in the upper register. You can hear a bit of it in DSDM, the lines "I'm fired up, I'm hot, don't shut me down".

A peppy and bouncy song. And Bjorn resurrected a word that had largely vanished for nearly a century --'thereon.'
Yeah. "...from _then_ on" is pretty common (and was presumably known by Bjorn), but, it doesn't really sound right in this context, and it certainly doesn't _sing_ as well. So yeah - good call, Bjorn. :)
