The reason they still make them this way (single hose) is , it is cheaper for them. They screw their customers. Their customer service is non existent , they have no tutorial videos on their website. I even phoned Danby for some help. Their customer rep told me that my model (DPA100E5WDB-6) didn't have a thermostat. I almost fell off of my chair. The problem is; we as consumers do not do enough research before we buy. Oh! their user manuals are a joke. You couldn't be more correct regarding the vacuum it creates , this might be the worst thing of all.
No…thermostat???? On an AIR CONDITIONER!?!! How does that even happen. Unbelievable. I’m incredulous as well. Exactly, they save a tiny bit of money making them and it costs their customers more than the price of the unit over the life of using it. This madness has to end. In posting these videos I’ve gotten over 20 comments from people where a new unit stopped working in the first 2 weeks…no help from the customer service 🤯. Insanity!
So, here's my experience. I REALLY wanted a dual-exhaust hose, with the higher SACC BTU's. The problem is the connection. For some reason, the cut out on the plastic for the exhaust for every single DH unit i could find, is all the way on the very edge of the plastic. (All the single-hose ones are centered). I have to use my AC on a sliding door. The door and the frame both have deep grooves that the big plastic piece has to sit inside of. With the cut-out all the way on the edge of the plastic, that means that some of the opening for the hose attachment is blocked by part of the door frame, and it's tough to get the hose in there. I have no idea why they didn't just center the cut-out. In any case, i suppose if i used enough padding, it would push it out further toward the center, but i didn't want to have to keep adding padding all along a 7-foot tall door. Thoughts?
Absolutely it’s tricky. With the Danby they have an attachment that helps but I still had to flip the connection slider upside down to get it to work with the sliding door. And it just barely fit. Within mm of not working. Agree it’s so dumb they don’t center it. Danby is the only dual hose model I’ve been able to test and use so far so I can’t speak for other models being able to work but flipping the slider.

Thanks for the information! I hadn’t considered the difference between dual hose and single hose portable AC units before. With the current heat wave, I’m looking into getting one for my apartment here in Canada. I’m deciding between these two options: Danby 12,000 BTU SACC Inverter Smart Portable Air Conditioner DPA120B9IWDB-6 from Costco, which appears to be a dual hose model. DeLonghi Portable Air Conditioner 14,000 BTU, cool extra large rooms up to 700 sqft, EX390LVYN from Amazon, which is rated as a #1 bestseller but is a single hose model but has higher BTU. Do you have any insights or advice on which might be a better choice between these two or even a different portable AC altogether?
That black one from Costco for sure is your best bet. I’m trying to find a dual hose midea to compare it to but they’re all sold out (here in YYC). So far that Danby has been the best hands down. Quietest, most efficient, most cold air volume output and easiest to setup and use plus has dual hose. People say the midea is ever better…
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Thanks for sharing. I will check out the Costco here in Edmonton to see what they have it stock but from online facebook groups, I have noticed costco has the new 2024 white colored model for Danby vs the black one.

I have both versions running in my house right now. The dual hose one is significantly louder and more annoying. It cools a little faster, but not by much. You should have run a dual hose model in this video to show people an accurate comparison instead of just saying it's better. Danby is making very poor products lately and you can see rows of returned ones at home depot even during a heat wave.
Interesting you’re the first person to say this. The funny thing is I have both versions running in my house and have the opposite experience. The dual hose on low fan speed full cooling is WAY quieter and puts out colder air. Danby does seem to make some crappy duds, maybe you have a bad one. The white dual hose model has not impressed me noise-wise.
I've read there was a period where they had used cheap flimsy plastic in the fan assembly, where it essentially combusted during shipping, but they've since fixed that issue. Though I don't doubt there are other issues (some transport the ac sideways in the box, causing the refrigerant pool to one side. Then they bring it home and run it asap, which causes it to fail prematurely. To those that transported it sideways, must let it stand upright for 24 hours to let the refidgerant settle). May seem silly, but this is part of due diligence.
