HOLY S#%T. I have used BeatStep 2 years now with reaper. All stuff till 14:00 was something that I already knew but my brain exploded when you showed that "Learn" function.

Glad I was not alone in my lack of self control. Looking forward to the next video on the topic, thanks for all the work you do Kenny.

I didn’t realize that I had watched this before until you hit play on the first bit into reaper. I’ve definitely heard that synth line before. You just accidentally created a super memorable main melody for a song.

Thank you very much for this video. It gives me great fun to operate the Reaper from the controller.

Kenny: your tutorials are invaluable to me in so many ways and subjects. Hope you’ll do one on the Keystep Pro as well.

It should work pretty much the same way. The only difference would be that you should be able to assign the sequencers to different tracks.

If you're broke AF like me, you can actually do all this with your computer keyboard using reaper's virtual keyboard. And a few JS plugins to setup.

Realearn is fantastic, isn't it? I am designing a control surface using Lemur in an old tablet and Realearn to program it. Sort of a 121 but for Reaper.

Kenny, I have a special request. Is there any chance you can figure out ReaTrak for us? I know I'm not the only person using Reaper with Melodyne, or Band In A Box. But what documentation there is is at best confusing and at worst wrong, and the "instructional" videos are useless. Help? Thanks!

is it possible to do triplets using Reaper's sequencer with the beatstep as the input device? Since the beatstep does not have triplet subdivisions

I own Arturia Sparkle+Spark 2. I've often tried to record the VST's envelopes which trigger Spark's different functions, like switching banks and patterns, and controlling the touchpad which can be set to controlling the filter or several FX (like reversing a pattern live, or automatically stuttering a piece of the pattern (e.g., the first beat, or the first 1/8). But the recorded envelopes do not have the same effect when played. I think it's related to Reaper's management of VST's received envelope(s) data when recording. I think I remember seeing that there's a 100 ms delay ramp or so when moving/releasing a controler to record the data. Should I set that value to 0 ms?

Thanks Kenny! A recomantation for a mini keyboard-controler wuld be usefull as well.

    • @REAPERMania

I chose this one because it's unique. There's about 100 mini keyboard controllers that I would assume work fairly well and the same.

How do i get my preferences to save FOREVER in halion 7 within reaper? I have a launchkey 49 and a small garagekey 37 mini. I want the mini to do chord shapes for me, which I can easily set with multitrack in halion however It resets to not binded everytime i reboot even if i save my project.

Did everything exactly as shown, but cannot get sound AT ALL from the Beatstep. I can see the signal, but no output.

So this seems cool but i have a question about building a song or chord progression. If i make for instance a cool bassline with the arpeggiator....can it be triggered to automatically change along with the chords? Like if the song goes C-G-C-D...will the arpeggiated bassline also change with the chords or do i need to build a different arpeggio for each chord and build the track in reaper manually? I have seen on the keystep for instance the arpeggiator changes as the user is playing the keybed. Is this possible with the beatstep plus an external keyboard?

Does the drum track auto quantize via the BeatStep, or do you have to do it manually afterwards?

    • @hettovennik2887

was wondering as well if the Beatstep or Reaper does the quantising!

    • @jeffreyboehm9602
      @jeffreyboehm9602 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Most interfaces don’t have a connector for a controller (although Audiofuse does). Controllers use USB connectors, so it goes straight to one of your computer’s USB ports.
