Both pickups have their own advantages and cons at other side. Great video bro, thank you so much. I personally like BC Rich more, (I'm a Slayer dude :) ), but awesome sound there....they are loud as hell and go absolutely scream with high gain. I came across a pair of these bc rich pickups for about 50 euro in Serbia, and I planing to slam them in my Ibanez to replace stock IBZ6.
Absolutely man! The BC Rich pickups are nowhere as bad as people make them out to be, I used them (and was totally happy with them) for years. I did this swap more out of curiosity and am happy with it but wasn't displeased with the guitar with the stock pickups either! Thanks a lot for checking us out have fun with that Ibanez!
Get some passive emg pickups it dont really matter wich,,they look badass and beat the hell out of Seymour duncan,,nodded a jackson randy rhodes with some and made a 230 dollar guitar sound like a 3,000$ guitar😄
Agreed! I definitely wouldn't say one blows the other out of the water at all. Maybe the SD is a hair better but nothing to lose sleep over for sure. The BC Rich pickups are not as bad as the internet would make you believe! Thanks for checking it out!
Iv had my Seymour Duncan invader pickups since last christmas my wife surprised me with them, I love how bold and solid bends and vibratos come in through them. Their super punchy and ballzy and I'm debating about getting a bc rich guitar to replace my schecter omen extreme 6 string that I recently broke from a random freak accident and I was contemplating swapping the stock bc rich pickups out for the invader ones.
Hello! I like more how the original sound in your video. The sound is thicker with BDSM pickups. I own JrV NT TBK with licensed FR And BDSM humbuckers. When I take it out of the box first thought was "I will change the licensed FR with original and the pickups, too". After 16 years Is still original, I changed nothing. The tremolo stays in tune incredibly well and the pickups sound perfect for metal at high volume. Bedroom volume perhaps is not the best performance for this guitar, I don't know. Greetings!😀
Very cool, glad you've kept your V all these years! I really had no reason to swap pickups on this one other than just to try it out. I am like you where the guitar kept me totally happy for years (I've had that JrV since 2001). I just got curious to try out the other pickup! Thanks for stopping by!!
I’m going to pickup a warlock tomorrow but I think the factory pickups sounds heavy those seymour Duncan’s sound kind of soft more of like a late 80s metal hair band sound. The factory ones sound like metal core.
These are the BC Rich BDSM pickups. I'm not exactly sure what pickups were in the bronze series guitars, but they were not the BDSM pickups. Those came on the Platinum level and up guitars. Thanks!
Not at all familiar with the types of BC Rich pickups but I have a platinum series warlock I bought new In the 90s & thinking about upgrading the pickups after all these years. One time In the late 90s when my band was recording an album, the engineer accidentally erased part of one of my guitar tracks & my tracks were already done so I didn't have my guitar there at that session. So I used a much more expensive Les Paul in the studio to go over part of what he erased. Only a couple people who really listened to the song that happened on could actually tell the difference without me pointing it out to them & telling them what happened... I still really wanna get some better pickups but STILL not sure what I should go for....ugh
Hey there did you change out your pickups yourself? I just bought a used mockingbird NJ and pickups have 2 wires each. Bridge is a blue wire and white. Neck is red and white. I think the whites are the hots which go to middle pole of each pot. Do you have any insight. I actually have a Tb-6 that i want to change just trying to ID the hot wire. Thanks
I did swap the pickups myself. What pickups are in your Mockingbird? Cool axe by the way, I love Mockingbirds! Your best bet would be to find a wiring diagram for your pickups, I'm not familiar with what came in those NJ Mockingbirds. Thanks for checking us out!
They actually clean up pretty well, not perfect, there's some flubby sound in there. I think the SD's sound better clean/more controlled but the BC Rich pickups certainly aren't terrible clean. Thanks!
SD pickups are well known more smooth and clean sounds rather than BC stocks that give louder and almost blend with the distortions.. All music genres should be perfects with SD pickups but if you just for only Metal or Grunge BC stock are more affordable at it's prices. First I think my headphones are broken in right ear, can you reupload with stereo?
Thanks for checking it out, and your headphones are fine, that was the video haha. The SDs are great across the board like you mentioned as well. Thanks!
I totally agree the stock BC Rich pickups are not bad at all! Not sure why they get picked on so much, but the Black Winters are absolutely amazing too. You will definitely like those!
Yea man bc rich gets a bad rap in general but I did not listen to the bad hype and bought a higher end model and it's the best guitar I've ever played plan on sticking to only them tho deans are nice as well
@@sndgarage yea the new ones are awesome , on there ig pages I plan on getting at least one ironbird to have as well would u choose the black winter over the emg 81 for black metal?
@@165-i8s The Ironbirds are super sick, nice choice! Black Winter and EMG are both awesome pickups, but I think you might really dig the Black Winter for a more black metal leaning sound. They are one of my favorite pickups of all time now, and the really cool thing is they do a killer black metal sound, but are still surprisingly versatile as well. Can't go wrong either way really though!
Seymour Duncan makes some nice pickups and I believe the P-rails should be a different flavor than the stock Humbuckers in the BC Rich. Either way they should both be fun to play! I'd imagine those SDs are smoother than the BC Rich pickups. Thanks for checking us out!
Totally agree. I may have had the SD slightly lower (farther from the strings) than the BC Rich when I did this so it might actually be closer volume wise than what I had shown in the video.
BC bsdm pickups are too bass-y if you have the tone knob at low, and sound HOT when the knob is at max.. kinda good way to have a guitar that can play both clean and crunchy/metal PS : i fucking love these junior flying Vs.. glad i got one when they stopped producing them
Definitely are, and that's my fault. After the video I noticed I had the SH6 sitting a bit lower height wise than the BC Rich was. I've upped the height a bit and I'm thinking it would be more even volume level between the two now. Thanks for checking us out!
Sounds totally amazing with the Duncan in there. I would really appreciate it if you could answer my question I have a B.C Rich Warlock Revenge similar to your V guitar with stock BDSM pickups and I just bought a used set of EMGs 81-85 that didn't come with the wiring kit so can I install the new pickups on the old hardware or do I need to pay an extra 50$ for the wiring kit? P.S : This is my first time upgrading pickups and I have no previous experience. thanks a lot
Thanks for checking us out and the comment! You'll definitely want the wiring kit from EMG to swap the 81-85 in there. Just going active from the stock passive pickups will require different pots, plus the EMG kit gives you everything you'll need to make it work correctly. Plus it's all solderless so once you have their wiring kit installed swapping active pickups is a breeze since you can just unplug the old ones and plug in the new ones! The Revenge is the white Warlock right? Those look pretty cool! Good luck with the swap and keep us posted how it turns out!
I picked up a Warlock Revenge also. Stock pickups really sounded muddy. Measured 18.3k ohms. Threw in a Kent Armstrong Super Rocker. Still slightly muddy. Usually the Armstrongs are articulate . I'm wondering about the stock pots , They're dime pots.
Wow the Duncan Distortion destroys it, at least through your amp setup. You should definitely keep it, it suits your rig very well. There's so much upper mid grating harshness in the BDSM.
Totally agree and the SH6 is still in the guitar. I've been loving it since I put it in and will be keeping it there. And you are correct that pickup does suit the VS100 well. Thanks for checking it out!

@@sndgarage I will 🤘😁
I'm a SLAYER dude as well, F those Duncans. They should come with a Def Leopard album and a starbucks
To my ears the BC Rich pick ups sound better that's just my opinion
They definitely don't sound bad! I used them for years and never had an issue with them at all. Thanks for checking it out!
15 people agree with you.
Literally picking a warlock up with a Seymour in it and I own a BC Rich artwork collection with this pickup in the bridge and it’s still great!!
Right on! They are both solid choices for sure! Enjoy the Warlock!!
I wanted to see how these pickups were for heavy gain. I picked up an SG that the previous owner had loaded the BDSM pickups in.
Heavy gain should be right up these things alley for sure. They are pretty hot so you should have some fun with that SG! Thanks for stopping by!
So does anyone have any recommendations on things to buy when upgrading a warlock bronze series
Get some passive emg pickups it dont really matter wich,,they look badass and beat the hell out of Seymour duncan,,nodded a jackson randy rhodes with some and made a 230 dollar guitar sound like a 3,000$ guitar😄
Well if anything the stock pickups sounds close! Almost a waste to swap them out.

Great video bro. Trying to decide whether to do this swap on a 2011 Warlock I just picked up.
Thanks for checking us out! Can't really go wrong either way in my opinion! Happy shredding!
Thank you for the comparison 🙏

Sh6 in Basswood is killer
