Obviously this is a TV series and not a documentary so naturally dates and times are jumbled about. But it looks like Sydney 1981 or 1982. The point of the scene thou is to show Michael’s transformation into a sexy lead singer. However I don’t think it happened in quite this way. Michael had been doing the sexy moves on stage since 1979. But it does show INXS were moving into pop territory by the early 1980’s and leaving the punk thing behind. It’s that move that interested Chris Murphy to decide to manage them.

I loved the fact this series was made as i love this band. But God it was cringey at times. Limited budgets for Australian productions mean they just look shonky. Great acting but it just looks cheap as hell. Rubbish script as well. This great band deserved better.
