Nor did I have to peel the shell off it eventually got so thin it got soggy and wore itself off. Also I didn’t reject all of my floating seeds ... 2 of 4 worked and after a week I threw out the ones doing nothing

After so many trial and errors, finally tried this method and it WORKED!!! For me I tested with the coat on and coat off(as per this video), the coat off seedlings are longer with bigger leaves. Coat-on seedlings have shorter and smaller discs leaves. Growth time exactly 14 days. I have two leaves opened on each seedling. Tip: Rinsing with H2O2 3% 1:7 water ratio works, leaving them in H2O2/water solution turned their growth stunted and leaf stalks brown and rough. Tip 2: I added 2-3 Drops(DO NOT ADD MORE) of Aquarium Green solution. Only tiny 2-3 drops to my seeds 6 seeds immersed in 600 ml to 1 litre of water, I increased the water to 1 litre as the seedlings grew. Another point: I kept the temperature for the first the 7 days at 25 to 26 degrees. After two leaves reach a certain length they are better able to tolerate temperature fluctuation but first 7 days make sure the temperature is steady, the water level is steady and make sure to not change conditions too much; the exception being changing the water as it becomes cloudy on daily basis. They do need attention first week but also do not disturb them too much. It's tricky, but once they grow, hard to kill them.

But then I couldn't find any of the lotus mud to plant them in! :( Anyway, I only had germinated three of them. I've still got some and once I finally find some of that lotus mud, I'm going to do it again and then plant them into this bowl I've got that would serve as a perfect table top "pond"! They do love the light, too, so I'm getting a plant light to hang over it as well since they will be inside. Thanks for asking! If the next try works, I'll come back and post!

There are no such things as purple or blue lotus plants. There are some deep reds. Make sure that you do not have waterlily seeds, as the "blue lotus" is actually a egyptian tropical water lily. If you do get a purple or blue lotus to grow, please post pictures online.

I did that and my seeds are almost 9' long and have little pads about to open. I was looking for what to do now...There are so many conflicting ways. I dont know how mine just grew perfectly. Now Im nervous on opinions to take. All these sites have all legit ways. Hope my lil guys keep growing.
I have tried this method. It sucks. After growing some stems the seed starts to float with the stems. It is very difficult to manage that way. I would suggest everyone to not to peel off the outer skin of the seed.

I just left mine in water . One sprouted in 22 days. Then I used sand paper for the others that were really small another one germinated . It will eventually peel of its shell after some time

Dont worry, First 2-3 leaf will not go above water You can shift your plant in mud There will be thick notch like part 2 cm from seed from which roots will appear put that in mud and keep it in sunlight

Malay Mohanty I got the answer little bit, it's all about temperature may be, I just put 1 seed in the bottle and put that bottle in aquarium which was set on 26-28 degree... Now that one is germinated successfully, and still it is growing in good condition 😊

This WORKS! After a couple of failures followed this method yesterday and today I have shoots!
After so many trial and errors, finally tried this method and it WORKED!!!

What did you finally do? Did you plant them into pots and sink in a pot for a water feature? Or did you plant into a pond?

Floating is normal...wait till..root seen...then plot this rooted seed in mud(smallpot)and place in big pot then slowly fill water
I watched this video where you supposed to peel the outer skin off, and I regret it.
Mine was fine it still sinks after peeling. Maybe it a hit or miss?
Put it in a tub with some soil and slightly cover it so it doesn't float it will grow roots in some time

Keep changing water every 12hrs don't add any vinegar or acidic solution once they are germinated

Just give the lotus seeds in water without breaking or rubbing it will grow
But would take 10 to 12 moths to take one seed to grow without sacrificing
