    As a kidnap victim she stayed calm and was very observant.

    The adverts are amazing. Around about this time there was academic research indicating the dangers of smoking.

    Yes 20 20 Is hindsight. In 1966 surgeon general warned about smoking. This 1940 s and 1950 s. He died from smoking. When he started no one knew. Thank God my father became religious and quit smoking.

    I wonder if this is a variation on case in The Big Grab? Both cases involve a professor's wife who was kidnapped.

    Never have understood sentencing for kidnapping. You can get a longer sentence for kidnapping than murder.

    Can you imagine a cigarette commercial nowadays? The ACLU would be suing every one!

    • @leetakamiya2162
      @leetakamiya2162 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Wouldn’t it be exactly the opposite? The ACLU sues for civil rights, the right of free speech among them.

    Well Jack Webb was wrong about smoking, that and alcoholism cost him his life
    The consequences of fictional dialog, cigarette carnival barking and stolen glory

    • @E.L.RipleyAtNostromo
      @E.L.RipleyAtNostromo ปีที่แล้ว +4

      He was no alcoholic, there’s no justification for that statement, and he died of a heart attack. Smoking probably had something to do with that cause of death, but even that isn’t certain. If he was “wrong about smoking,” so were countless millions of others, many of whom died in their beds of old age.

    Who would've known smoking 🚬 was such a good idea?
