      @@candywisdom hello! Yes, I've seen people from biomedical engineering, medicine, neuroscience, psychiatry and public health. Not too sure about finance, but maybe there's some cross over in behavioral economics?

    Great video! Nice to get an insider’s view of this career line. Don’t really hear much about it as a psychology student, so it’s definitely an educational watch

    Hello Yana, your videos have been so helpful in better understanding the role expectations for psychology RA jobs. I was wondering if you have any tips for applying to psychology RA positions or if their were any big adaptions or realisations that you made during your RA application process. I look forward to watching more of yoyr videos in the future. Kind regards, Emma

      Thank you! 😊 Glad you found these kinds of videos helpful!
      In terms of tips - I suppose my experience of applying to RA jobs has been pretty standard (i.e. like any other job), but I did hear that a lot of university based RA roles are advertised internally first so it helps to get familiar with academics you're interested in working with.
      I'm planning on making some more videos on the topic :)

    So I am 26 and want to start going to school to get a bachelor degree in the brain. Psychology seems more interesting to me. I would have to go online to get my degree. I have a full time with big bills. What would work look like trying to find jobs after that? ill probably be 30 until I get the degree for an entry level. Any advice?

    • @yana.rya_____
      @yana.rya_____  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doing a degree whilst working full time tough (from what I hear) but doable! In terms of jobs I guess it would depend on what sort of work you'd like to do - you can do admin work in psych clinics, get into hr that sort of thing after the bachelors. To do more practical stuff you would most likely need to do additional training (e.g. work as an aba therapist or helpline operator generally requires you to do a short course but some jobs will still take you on and train you up). To be a psych you'd need to do honours and masters. I think for most research assistant jobs you'd need honours.

    I am Masters in Psychology.. Can I ger Research Assistant / Associate jobs with only Masters? Is PhD mandatory to get Research Assistant job? Also, if I started to pursue PhD, can I get research assistant / associate jobs for short-term projects in abroad and carry on with another short projects after one gets complete?

    • @yana.rya_____
      @yana.rya_____  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends on the job! Some just want you to have research experience, some require a phd. For your second question, I highly doubt it as a phd is very intensive so it's hard to work more than 1-2 days per week. You might be able to go abroad as part of your phd but you won't be paid for it 😅

    How is the pay? Does this job pay well?

    • @yana.rya_____
      @yana.rya_____  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I think generally its decent, but it varies a lot depending on experience and whether the job is casual/temp or on salary (casual tends to be paid more per hour as the work is unstable)

    If RAs have even more questions regarding the research topic, will the researchers take it into consideration and possibly start another research project if the question inspires them to?

      What kinds of teams are there because I wanna have my thoughts & questions taken into consideration if into the research field

    • @yana.rya_____
      @yana.rya_____  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it would depend on the particular team/setting. If it's university based then I think it's more likely that the researchers will allow you to start another project/do other analyses on the data. If it's industry based then I think it depends on if the questions align with the business/funding and if it doesn't take away from your normal work. In either setting it would really depend on whether a new project will take funding and whether the researchers are willing to spare funding/ resources for it.

    • @yana.rya_____

      It's really diverse! I think this is a great question to ask in interviews because then they'll be able to let you know :)

    • @MargauxNeedler
      @MargauxNeedler ปีที่แล้ว

      @Yana R true! I will be sure to ask that if I ever have an interview for it. I plan on job-shadowing for it somewhere before I decide if I want to take college classes for it. Now that I know how different the job can be for different settings. I can choose to job-shadow one that sounds ideal or job-shadow all of those options. Thank you 😊
      Edit: I'll definitely ask during the job-shadowing.
