I wish there were a recording of this concert version of the show, with Raul Esparza and Sutton Foster. It would far surpass any of the other recordings available.
Brilliant! They did such a great job on this! This show has such a great score! Ahead of it's time in the '60'S! PERFECTION for 2020 and on! They work well together. 🙂
HAPGOOD: With so little to be sure of, If there's anything at all. If there's anything at all. I'm sure of here and now and us together. All I'll ever be I owe you, If there's anything to be. Being sure enough of you Makes me sure enough of me. Thanks for everything we did, Everything that's past, Everything's that's over too fast. None of it was wasted, All of it will last: Everything that's here and now and us together! It was marvelous to know you And it isn't really through. Crazy business this, this life we live in- Can't complain about the time we're given- With so little to be sure of in this world, We had a moment! A marvelous moment! FAY: A marvelous moment! A beautiful time. I need you more than I can say. I need you more than just today. I guess I need you more than you need me. And yet I'm happy. All I'll ever be I owe you. HAPGOOD: The more I memorize your face, FAY: If there's anything to be. HAPGOOD: The more I never want to leave. FAY: Being sure enough of you Made me sure enough of me. HAPGOOD: Come with me, Fay. Because Sutton was having a PTSD flashback and they both stopped acting. Raul was married to Bill. And she needed his support. He sensed that and acted accordingly.
The cast for this production is legendary.
THIS is what perfect phrasing and lush voices can do to present a song as a work of art.
I AGREE! 🙂
Wish there was a better video and audio of this recording because it's FABULOUS!

An exquisite song! Truly, a great and immortal secular hymn to love between humans. :)

Thank you thank you thank you.
thank you for posting this, I have been looking everywhere for a recording of this. :)
❤️❤️
This is wonderful. It was such a terrific production. Do you have the Cookie Chase ballet? It was my favorite part of the evening!
Hi David! The video is already uploaded... th-cam.com/video/nI-VdiRysiw/w-d-xo.html
3:17 to the end is POWERHOUSE! love it
Beautiful voices, and a splendid couple, but weird direction and so wooden...why the lovers so removed from each other?
Agreed.
Because Sutton was having a PTSD flashback and they both stopped acting. Raul was married to Bill. And she needed his support. He sensed that and acted accordingly.
Source? Because Esparza isn't married.
It is a concert, not a staged presentation. Both are carrying scripts.
His vibrato is so fast. It usually indicates poor breath support.
