Ive been told these are trash and Mikey Pipes had even called them out for shady practices and even worse, their reasons for their systems doing what they do upon failure. Its crazy how there wasnt a class action lawsuit against this manufacturer. Nice video tho, really like how knowledgeable you are and how thorough you are with service calls. Love to learn from people like you
The fire tube heat exchangers models are the best. Water tube heat exchangers have issues. Also Mikey Pipes lost the lawsuit. He’s a good plumber but his attitude is horrible.
Ive recently become aware of the importance of using the proper type of PEX piping for hydronic heating. A contractor in our area retrofitted several buildings with non oxygen barrier piping. Its taken about 5-7 years but every one of the buildings has sludged boilers and system piping. Id love to learn more about the science behind this phenomenon and whether that test kit you showed would help indicate this issue.
Ive heard a lot of negative stuff about Navien. Haven't had any first hand experiences with them as that style of heating isn't common in my area. The Mikey Pipes channel has several videos of them. He was an authorized dealer and servicer and promoted them until he started seeing failure patterns.
@@HVACKnowItAll that a good attitude. i still do wish they still made a lot of simple single stage condensing boilers - not everyone needs a wall hung modulator.
I hope this video helps guys!
I am installing one tomorrow for the first time in a while. Great timing of the vid!
Good luck, glad to help!
I’m heading to the Navien training center in California next month. Thanks for the video.
My pleasure
Great video Gary. Thank you for the knowledge.

Had mine for 10 years plus so far. No problems at all
Nice!
is there a battery that I'm missing so that when the power goes off the clock is not reset?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍.
I would take a tank water heater and high efficiency condensing furnace over that super-complex, fragile wall hung thing any day.
Super fragile?
i would take a 96% furnace and tank water heater over that super-complex, fragile disposable thing hanging on the wall any day
It's really not that complex at all.
