There's nothing making you buy it. It's a free game that costs a shit ton in money and upkeep. I'm not saying EA isnt greedy, and I think they're a shit company, but at least the game is still playable with a ton of free rewards.
@@User_Ew33r44 yes the game is free but the free rewards are trash yes you don’t have to buy it but you can have a good game with a good monetisation they could just put the money in the 20 tick servers which are really bad because you get way to many no rags and there are also a lot of bugs happening like peoples accounts getting reset because they fired a lot of employees for playtesting

Cool concept. And I think the idea of customisational universal heirlooms is good. But at this price, with so many locked variations it's ridiculous

I feel like if you use heirloom shards to unlock it you shoot get the whole set but if you use the exotic shards then you need to pick and choose every level individually

To me it looks soulless and lacks the charm / personality of the heirlooms that are connected to the characters. I happily grinded to get Revenant's heirloom because that thing is a beast and I'll happily grind to get Octane's next. But this? Nah.
Yeah the whole point of an ‘heirloom’ was so it could be an actual heirloom and this by definition breaks that
I have five friends who were a Revenant main and as soon as they bought the heirloom they instantly regret buying it and each have a different fault as to why they hate it.

I think it helps that I also just really love Revenant as a character. I think his lore is amazing and complex.

I feel like people are misunderstanding. And to be fair I was confused too. Each Katar piece is 10 of the new currency. There are 5 parts to each set which cost 50 in total. You only need 10 to use the base Katar for the one that you want and you can get more from events and lootboxes most likely. You can spend 10 to get a new part for each one but I believe you need to buy them in order. Essentially it's like an heirloom that gets more detailed the more you put the new currency into it.
That being said, if you need the base part in order to actually get new parts, that sucks and should be changed.
Absolutely no one would choose the Katar over any other heirloom

@@snowconebrat7329 well it kinda depends. I'd personally get the kobalt katar base next time I get heriloom shards simply because I already have the butterfly knife and Octane's prestige skin. I don't play other legends to the point I'd feel like a heriloom is worth it for them.
That being said, I hope respawn keeps making unique legend herilooms, I'd like to see one for Ballistic as I've been playing him a lot lately.
edit: forgot to specify I will get the kobalt base specifically to complete all sets one day to get the nitride set, my favourite base is the electrum.

It's like the Apex Legends Mobile Heirloom customization system just the base heirloom was free to unlock and modifications would cost $$$ in Mobile version however on the Main game they are keeping the traditional process of Heirloom shards so it makes more sense now that maybe later we might get all the customization features on the Legend based heirlooms as well which will be awesome 🥰

Nahhh, getting a base cobalt katar still needs heirloom shards, which mean I may end up never getting one until I spent a thousand hours ingame at least… but at least it’s a nice to have for those who play multiple legends.
I truly don’t care for generic heirlooms like this, or the buster sword. I have shards, I’ll be hanging onto them for something unique to a future character.

@@cvVampria by 12 seasons I mean that's the time required to get 150 heirloom shards (if you have no luck, like me). First of all you need to buy the base katar which costs 150 heirloom shards, and only then you can buy the customisation options. But yeah, actually, by the time you get the base katar you will have had enough exotic shards to get 2 full bundles. I just didn't think of it
Ngl I know the final fantasy collection event was super expensive and I did buy the buster sword, I’m now glad I did so I no longer have the FOMO for this stuff since I now have an heirloom that might never come back. And if I don’t like my characters heirloom, I can switch it to the buster sword and never worry about it again

We now have the option of one highly customizable heirloom for 150 HS or a very personalized one. I actually like this. I bought the Katar one cause I liked it and two cause now I can have an heirloom on everyone. Now I can change everything about it and get more value out of it. Honestly better than the recolor reactives cause there's so much more you get for 50 ES
If the katar was part of the challenges like the flatline & wraith skin. I could understand having this parts & pieces system.

I think there's 7 legends without heirlooms if you count alter:
Maggie, Ballistic, Alter, Vantage, Newcastle, Conduit and Catalyst.
In my opinion its better to give players universal knife which u can equip on every character than waiting for ugly heirloom for your only one main. Heirlooms with satisfying equip animations etc. ended on loba, thats true. Dont even tell me that buttplugs from ash, big guitar fuse or toilet brusher horizon are worth to spend 150 shards... I main for example ash, I have like 32k kills and I want that Katar more than actual her heirloom. If one day im gonna change my main character I will still play with Katar heirloom. So in my personal opinion its a better way that they gonna add more stuff like that.
@@ynlodan the katar may look better than certain heirlooms but it literally has 0 personality or meaning for the legend you equip it on, that's why heirlooms are better because they're so much more personal to the legend

I hate this. As a Newcastle main, I might rlly never get a unique heirloom for him because of this universal or artifact heirloom, I dont even know what it is anymore the names keep changing 😭. All things considered though, it does look dope. The customization options give a lot of leniency when it comes to pairing with skins, but was another currency rlly necessary for the customizable options?
So on top of needing heriloom shards to buy the base you need 40 bucks to get the rest

welle i mean i never knew what heirloom i would take when i get (one day one day) heirloom shards but if they really put the artifact currency in every bp from now on i guess building an universal heirloom is not a bad idea.
Yeah the only problem is you will get bored of it after like 2 seasons at best (maybe even earlier) and even getting new effects and handles won't really help you.
I got my first (and only) heirloom one year ago, and I got fed up with it after about 4 weeks, right now I can't even look at it cause I'm sick of seeing the same animations over and over again, it literally drives me crazy.
