    What a collection! I watched your most recent promo video and had to watch this one again. This may have been the 3rd time. There's something about the promos.

      Promos are beautiful and easy to relate too. I like the early 60's regular cars best because it makes me think that life was simple then which it was. Only we did not know it! Cars were beautiful back then with chrome and pattern fabrics and colors. As long as you did not get in a serious wreck. There was no walking away from a head on collision. I think muscle car promos are neat too but those are too expensive for my taste. Anyway I got my collection at an auction where there were at least a thousand promos and the other dealers and collectors were focused on the high dollar resale models. So I got all mine at a third of the value at the time. I still pick up a nice promo here or there and these 4 cost $220 total so a very good price. Too bad the boxes were toast.

      I will definitely be keeping my eyes open for some more of these. You are right, they are a glimpse into a simpler time. Thanks for the reply.

    AMT, stood for Aluminum Model Toys. This is because when they started out making them they were in Metal and after about two years they changed to plastic.

    Very, very nice. Looks like an actual miniature car showroom. I have so many I've collected over the decades...they are packed away in 2 closets, not nearly as nice though as your originals....Modelhaus was a good friend for many years. That is a beautiful collection you have there, thanks for sharing. How many did we destroy as kids?

    Very nice collection, those Mavericks look pretty nice. I’ve got a few. Years ago I bought a good sized model collection which had quite a few promos mixed in. Probably the Best Buy I ever had, packed in with it was a Aurora Bat Mobile.

    I have a bunch of 1960s era Matchbox, Corgi, and 1/25 promo models as well as a few kits I built. As I got older, I like the bigger cars and loved the detail on the promos. Don't really know what to do with them all - I'd like to see them go to a collector/dealer. Gotta catalog and photograph them.

  • @michaelvaldez204

    • @toycarcollector
      @toycarcollector  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      All promos are worthy of collecting. Most average models with boxes are $80 to $150. Models without boxes are half that and used ones are $20 to $40 on average. Anything broken is a parts car. Then there are the cream of the crop models like Mopar Muscle and the Riviera and Imperial and some other scarce colors, those are spendy!

    Nice collection. I have mine on shelves in three rooms of the house. It would drive me nuts to have them all packed away in boxes but it is a pain to keep them clean. This summer, I purchased two glass display cases from a local jeweler who was closing up shop. My goal is to eventually house my collection in them.

    • @CycolacFan
      @CycolacFan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crushing Vanessa3 once they're warped they stay warped, even if you heat it and somehow get it straight it will warp again. All you can do is store it in an airtight bag away from light to prevent it getting worse.

    /// COLLECTORS HINT /// To prevent your old plastic model cars from warping keep the cars in an enclosed glass case or in their sealed original box. Any air movement across the plastic tends to make the plastic want to warp and try to return to it's original flat manufactured state. Preventing air movement is the key. Even solids are fluid in this world. So to keep the beautiful lines and designs of your cars, keep them under glass and safe. An easy tip to do and save your collection for generations to come ! Cheers !

    • @herksmodelworks165
      @herksmodelworks165 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the most ridiculous bunch of bullshit I've ever heard. The way you describe it seems you think these bodies are stamped out of flat plastic like real cars made of steel. They are injection molded from liquid styrene which was probably in a pellet form prior to melting it . I hope they don't start turning into plastic pellets.

    • @rustyshackleford3978
      @rustyshackleford3978 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@herksmodelworks165 Your response is much more ridiculous, and higher in bullshit value. Do your homework before firing ignorance with both barrels at innocent victims. Promo models were NOT made of polystyrene. Promo models were made of acetate, which at that time was more suited to the promotional attributes of the models; acetate molded well, was very tough and GLOSSY right out of the mold, important because promos were not painted, and the glossy finish added realism. Acetate has distinctly different properties and breaks down differently than styrene. You don't understand half what you think you know.

    • @herksmodelworks165
      @herksmodelworks165 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rustyshackleford3978 styrene or acetate either way they're injection molded. I called bullshit about him saying that the plastic was trying to return to a flat state. It was never flat in the first place, so understand what you read before you start running your mouth.
