I really enjoy your style of teaching, going slow but in depth and in a way that encourages thinking like an engineer. Do you also offer something like a 'guided tour' for people who are already very familiar with the principles of CAD, but are new to the Solidworks software package? I spent all my professional carreer on CATIA, designing cast aluminium engine parts for a big car manufacturer, and I am considering to expand my repertoire to other programs with the context of possibly switching to a different employer. What I'd need is more 'where does [tool XYZ] live?' than 'How do I think with planes and relations?', if you get what I mean.

Hello Aryan, The long intro (00:00 to 2:30) was a bit of a turn off, and it could just have been this much (00:49 to 01:30). 😬 Other than that, your whole tutorial was GREAT!! Very good teaching methods. It’s also very nice to see you on-screen where you elaborate on your teachings using your body gestures and make virtual “eye contact” with your students. Wonderful that you started with proper hands/finger placement on the keyboard. I've been a graphic designer & retoucher for over 30 years and that's also the first tip I teach when I do some teaching. EXCELLENT CONTENT!!!!!👌🏽👍🏽👊🏼
It's such a coincidence when I watched your video that my hands were placed directly the same as your hands using esc and spacebar before going through the basics, this might be my calling to pursue this career path. Thank you for the support for the community, really appreciate your guidance and teachings! deserve a sub!
Perfect! That is the way to go. ESC helps you move out of a type of sketching tool without having to move much with the mouse. Another thing that can massively increase your productivity, with mouse gestures.
This was an excellent video! I am an engineer with a lot of experience in NX and a few other CAD software, and I was able to follow this well and see how Solidworks is a little different but still accomplishes the same things. I'll definitely check out your webinar at some point.
This is absolutely fantastic I finally found the perfect solidworks course U really explain very well I wish I could learn this entire course Unfortunately this is just too expensive for me
This was actually pretty helpful since i am leveling up from intro to engineering to principles and this year we are only using solid-works instead of inventor (which is what i used all last year)
Hi teacher. First of all, i would like to appreciate you for this video, because i've watched all of 45 minutes without any pause or stops, that was so interesting , but i've just started and it's a little bit dufficult for le to understand how does this application works and how to become more confident on ourselves and be an qualified engineer of(car, aeroplane) etc. Actually, i'm an aircraft engineer who just used this application and he wanted to find a solution to get it. Anyway, thank you that you had teached me about this application))
Hey, thank you for your kind words! I'm really glad to hear you enjoyed the video and stuck with it for the full 45 minutes-means a lot to me! I get that starting out with SolidWorks can feel a bit overwhelming, especially with your background in aircraft engineering where precision is critical. The best way to build confidence is through practice, especially by working on projects that align with your field, like designing components for aircraft or cars. Start with the basics, get comfortable with sketching, parts, and assemblies, and then challenge yourself with more complex designs. If you're ever stuck or need guidance on a specific topic, feel free to ask. You've already got the engineering mindset, so once you're familiar with the tools, you'll be flying through SolidWorks in no time. Keep at it, and thanks again for watching!
Thanks for the introduction to solid works! As someone who is already familiar with fusion 360 and inventor, would you say that transferring my knowledge to solid works will be time consuming, or is it mostly just figuring out where the different tools are in solid works?
Of course it helps. You already have lots of bits and pieces. You just need the connection and order. You’ll enjoy a huge ease of interface when moving from inventory to SolidWorks. It’s more expanded and clear
I've gotten pretty good with beginner level solidworks design and made functional parts, but I'm having a really hard time converting solids into sheet metal parts that can be ordered via Send Cut Send and welded together (think of a cube broken down into 6 seperate flat sheets of steel with tight-tolerance locating tabs that allow it to be assembled without tools) how would I go about making such a part? I just get errors when using the ripping tool and I don't want to use bends
well this is not a novice move. you need to know more about the fundamentals and the sheet metal tools. there are tools inside the sheet metal tab that let you convert your solid into the closest sheet form you can.
Book are a thing of the past, in 2023 all you should be looking at is replicating models from videos following some formal training in video form. I have a Pro Course on this if you are interested.
Hello. Excellent tutorial, not just for what it covers but for the method the tutor uses. I was wondering, since some of the interested in learning #solidworks probably need to built the product; is there any chapter in which you talk about standard components like bearings, bolts, etc. I would like to know if the drawings that suppliers of a component (a servomotor for example) provide on its website, can be used in #solidworks or, it is needed to draw each component from zero. Thanks a million.
Is there any function in Solid works by which I can prepare a master model first then link it with excel or any function to make a new model just by changing its dimensions ?
Not ideally to create your models, since most professional software is made for computers/laptops, but after you build a model on a computer its easier to make changes with an Ipad, if you use Cloud based CAD platforms like 3DExperience.
Would it be easier for a totally beginner (never used programs like this) to use SolidWorks for 3d printing or should i start with something else? I want to start creating both sculptures and useful practical items from my 3d printer.
I'd ask it differently! What kind of stuff would you like to be able to model, if I could make you an expert in any CAD software in a blink of an eye today? Organic geometries? Not solidworks. Engineering designs and mechanical parts? DEFINATELY soldiworks. Depends on your needs. Architectural stuff? not solidworks

Thanks for making this video, i am going to start a solidworks class on Monday in a swedish technology school and this feels like it prepares me for whats to come !
Hi. thanks for your good video whenever i open a new drawing, units system returns to MKS, but i need to sketch in MMGS. how can i change the default unit for solidworks? changing units is easy, but shouldn't i be able to define a default for program?
to be honest actually I Am been search tutorials for that, but not find yet with detail explanation like have you done. I think it's would be good to you to make content that can direct applied on CNC industrial machine and absolutely would be good to people like me that would be direct practising at work place.
Hi, thank you for this quick tutorial! To this day I´ve been working mostly in Inventor (partly in Fusion and NX) and now I was hired as a contractor to startup, where Solidworks is demanded. Do you have some course for people like me? That means people that are fluent in "engineering modeling language" - understanding from basic sketching to making large assemblies, but need quick introduction to SolidWorks to assimilate in new enviroment? Overall all 3D CADs works similar, but there are little differences, that could be frustrating. Thanks for your respond.
Thank you very much I have problem with moving sketch and coipy which you did not tell use know the basic, and you where very fast we have to review your video many time
If you have any specific question send me an email and I'll do my best to send you a solution to the same when I get time. My Pro course is 20+ hrs long, so I can spend enough time and take things slower. Send me an email for the same if that is something that interests you.
Does solidworks use an axis? Before I retired I was using catia. I would hide all xyz planes and only work off of an axis system. That always worked better for me. Thanks
SOLIDWORKS does have an axis for visual purposes, but to start a sketch you would need a plane. Thus you would have to create reference planes as needed.
Yes, it is called 2d to 3d. It works pretty good for when you need to create a solid model from existing dwgs. I wouldn’t try it for anything too complicated though
I mean its still a hit or miss, and I would not trust it with any real projects, its better to do it yourself by learning a new skill, since it also gives you a part which you can then make changes to and tweak if needed.
Sure, best way if its a standard bolt/nut etc. is to use a toolbox component, then comes the thread feature, followed by manual thread making using helix+swept cut.
You could post to content central and they provide you with a web frame that you can import into a site. Other options would be to use edrawings api. I have used it before to embed edrawings viewers into excel
SolidWorks itself does not provide a direct way to embed 3D models into a website, you can use a platform like Sketchfab to achieve this. Here's a simplified process: Export your SolidWorks model: You need to export your 3D model as a file format that can be uploaded to Sketchfab. Typically, a format like .OBJ or .STL should work. Create a Sketchfab account: Go to Sketchfab and create an account if you don't already have one. Upload your model: Once you're signed in, click on the Upload button. Select the 3D file you exported from SolidWorks, and follow the steps. Embed the model on your website: After uploading, Sketchfab will provide you with an code that you can use to embed the model on your website.
It was a great!! I want to scan the device and put it in this program and make changes and of course I want to make different engines I have no idea where to start
Good day, This whole workflow is called Reverse Engineering. Start by scanning the model, then import it into SOLIDWORKS, from there you can use the "Direct Editing" tools, these do not depend upon which software/ how the geometry was created, it is powerful enough to change it as needed.
my biggest enemy and problem for few days i recreating my own model from .step file sended by external company. I keep missing correct options to make this fast and correct
What are the features used? at times you can use the auto feature recognition feature, to rebuild the .STEP file within SOLIDWORKS, its not perfect, but it will give you an idea of how you can breakdown the model and re-build it on your own.
@@with-Aryan my coworker showed me that he is making assembly file of step and his model and make it fit together by cutting extending "material" but im not sure if I can, in assembly file, cut my model to edge of step model
This is so helpful Aryan! I haven’t used Solidworks in 2yrs and this was a great refresher. Please if you can cover some of the complex tools or any advice on becoming a CAD Technician would be awesome
Beside SolidWorks can you name some other software that compete with SolidWorks and most important can you say where does SketchUp stand in this list or is it anywhere near with these industrial 3d modeling software ?
AutoDesk Inventor, Fusion 360, CATIA, Rhino Sketch Up is more suited for environment designs than objects. The first four I named are your good alternatives.
You should really reconsider your price. Don't reflect on what the present market price is for your product but try to assess what the price-elasticity is. You might be able to gain much larger revenue by dropping your prices.
Your opening monologue is a great way to chase away the 20% of people who are neurodivergent. The idea of doing something automatically is a challene for the many of us who were not endowed with a large working memory. The very assumptions you make in your approach to learning are those that educators everywhere are trained to avoid. You know your subject matter yet you do not understand teaching
I appreciate your feedback, and you're absolutely right-everyone approaches learning differently, and I should be more mindful of that. My intent is always to help, but I can see how my approach might not resonate with everyone, especially those who learn in a different way. The goal should be to create content that supports all kinds of learners, whether they're neurodivergent or neurotypical. I'll definitely keep this in mind and look at ways to make my material more accessible and supportive for people who face challenges with things like working memory or learning something new in steps rather than all at once. Thanks for pointing this out-I’m always trying to improve how I teach, and your insight helps me get better at it. If you have any specific suggestions or ideas for how I can adapt my teaching style to make it more inclusive, I’d really love to hear them!
Thank You, I will be following you. The first video was very easy to follow. I learned more from you in that short amount of time than from several others over the last four days in the office.

Hi. thanks for your good video
whenever i open a new drawing, units system returns to MKS, but i need to sketch in MMGS. how can i change the default unit for solidworks?
changing units is easy, but shouldn't i be able to define a default for program?
Change the units to MMGS, then save your (empty) part as "part template". The next time you open it, it will be on MMGS
Yeah, Thanks
(فکر نمی کردم به این زودی جواب بدین 😉)@@with-Aryan
Great explanation and can be easily understandable. Thank you for these videos.
Glad it was helpful!
great one
Thanks
This is good for starts like me. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
would you going to make a mold drawing tutorial to prepare before getting to the CNC machine? with detail explanation like this?
I haven't thought about it to be honest! do you want to?
to be honest actually I Am been search tutorials for that, but not find yet with detail explanation like have you done.
I have the perfect course for you! courses.solidworkstutorials.net/
amazing tutorial for a serious beginner. thanks a lot Aryan👍
My pleasure 😊 Glad you liked it
Fast, but excellent. I assume I can use SolidWorks for a residential house plan. Correct?
Yes, absolutely. As long as you know what is safe and the correct design codes that apply in your region SOLIDWORKS can handle it.
What spec or laptop name and model you recommend for someone who plan on taking your course?.
Don't take it hard on yourself. The hardware is not going to be an issue, just any decent laptop can handle solidworks these days
Great presentation!
Thank you for your support.
@@with-Aryan thanks
Excellent. this is so much better than the Solidwork tutorial." Thank you"
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks! Please add clicks indication to your next videos, as it's not every time obvious when you click somewhere, especially for beginners.
Noted!
Thanks for the fast reply!
Always.
Is there a way to automatically combining 2D sketches of multiple views on a technical print into a 3D model.
❤❤❤❤Excellent ❤❤❤❤
Many many thanks
Do I need to know how to drowning technical drawing before learning solidwork?
No
@@with-Aryan to good to be true...
@@davidrabin7287 I wouldn't think of it as too good! It's still hard! But it's true

wow you are amazing😍😍😍 well understood. thank you

This was really a good way to learn step 1
Excellent brother
Thanks
Very nice
Thank you for the kind words.
can you explain how to make different types of threads in effective way in solidworks ?
Sure, best way if its a standard bolt/nut etc. is to use a toolbox component, then comes the thread feature, followed by manual thread making using helix+swept cut.
Fantastic! thank you so much!
you are welcome!
Do you know how to embed an interactive SolidWorks model into a website?
You could post to content central and they provide you with a web frame that you can import into a site. Other options would be to use edrawings api. I have used it before to embed edrawings viewers into excel
SolidWorks itself does not provide a direct way to embed 3D models into a website, you can use a platform like Sketchfab to achieve this. Here's a simplified process:
Export your SolidWorks model: You need to export your 3D model as a file format that can be uploaded to Sketchfab.

I want to scan the device and put it in this program and make changes and of course I want to make different engines
I have no idea where to start
Good day,
This whole workflow is called Reverse Engineering.
Start by scanning the model, then import it into SOLIDWORKS, from there you can use the "Direct Editing" tools, these do not depend upon which software/ how the geometry was created, it is powerful enough to change it as needed.
Thank you for this 45 mins ❤
Thanks for watching. Don’t stop join my mini course
Where is the link? I could not find it in the description ...

my biggest enemy and problem for few days i recreating my own model from .step file sended by external company.
Plsss make an entire series.
I already have. you will find the links in the description of this video!
Thank you. Excellent
Thank you for the kind feedback.
This is so helpful Aryan! I haven’t used Solidworks in 2yrs and this was a great refresher. Please if you can cover some of the complex tools or any advice on becoming a CAD Technician would be awesome
Sure thing!

Happy to hear that!
thank you for this amazing video! after this video which other videos do you recommend whatching?
Where do you wanna go?
Thank you
You're welcome
Beside SolidWorks can you name some other software that compete with SolidWorks and most important can you say where does SketchUp stand in this list or is it anywhere near with these industrial 3d modeling software ?
AutoDesk Inventor, Fusion 360, CATIA, Rhino
Sketch Up is more suited for environment designs than objects.
The first four I named are your good alternatives.
Outstanding
Thanks
This is really helpful video Aryan. Thanks a lot!

0:02 - Not surprised - what an AWEFUL tutorial!!!!!
Its just cold facts, I don't make the rules.
I actually need this type of teaching ❤ but you first Little bit known about solid work
Glad to hear that, the next 2024 is on its way out soon
You should really reconsider your price. Don't reflect on what the present market price is for your product but try to assess what the price-elasticity is. You might be able to gain much larger revenue by dropping your prices.
the present market price for similar products (quality-wise) starts at $2k and goes up to $5k and they are no nearly as good
Hi Aryan, I am interested in your course but can not find any details. Is it a download or on CD's and what is the cost?
it's online bro
Its there a version of solidworks 2023 affordable ? Like the premium version but cheaper or free? :))
pm me
student version is cheap if you are a student of my course you can get it very cheap

Do I have to pay to install solid works? Or is there a free education version? I use mastercam and want to know how to use solidworks.
no free version but student version!
Hi Aryan, Does the paid student version contains all lesson and will it take me to the pathway to become professional in SW?
Yes!
Beautiful ❤️
Thanks

Thank you for watching my videos!

The only way to get SOLIDWORKS is from their website. Any other means are illegal and can even corrupt your whole system.

I might
what are your units??
In this video, MMGS, but it's regardless of units
Thank You, I will be following you. The first video was very easy to follow. I learned more from you in that short amount of time than from several others over the last four days in the office.
