I have family in Newport News and I’ve enjoyed several visits to this outstanding museum. However, I haven’t been there since 2009, so it was great to get a more recent look at it. Thanks!
Did a Lecture one Evening there on the Modern Whaling Industry in Antarctic Area many years ago and made so welcome as a Scotsman by the staff especially Martha Stewart.Have very happy memories of that visit who Pete and Caddie Meekins introduced me to the Museum.Wonderful collections of Maritime History
Being a lifelong train aficionado, I’ve been following you and your videoed railroad excisions for some time. I truly enjoy them. I guess I’m even living a bit vicariously through your travels in between my own. I wish I would have known you were in Newport News as that is my home and I live about a mile and a half from the Mariner’s Museum! I would have loved to have had the opportunity to meet you, bought you lunch and/or dinner and shared some good conversation. Maybe next time. Safe travels.
Thats the Propeller off of the S S United States. Its still afloat in Philly Harbor they are trying to save it. The ship could go 42 knots and is 990 feet long.she had the record of the fastest crossing the Atlantic of any Oceanliner.
Nice! I live in Yorktown, Virginia about 15 minutes from this wonderful museum. Do you take video requests? I would love to see a similar video of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.
Starting off waiting for a traffic light? I think you could have cut out the first 2 minutes of just driving and finding parking. BUT, this is exactly what I wanted to see. One of my fav museums 20years since I was last there.
John Shoosmith, it never fails to amaze me how some people will criticize some aspect of a video, in the course of which they miss the obvious reason for the very thing they are bitching about. Hell, I won't even tell you what it is. If you care at all, watch again and see if you can figure it out.
coming off the James river bridge My Cousin has construction company that builds shopping mall complexes all over the country He owns the biggest majority of the peninsula to the left of the Bridge
Warbir, I think you meant to write "should have" and "you were"...... But I think I mentioned more than once in the video that I had very limited time, and needed to get on the road. So no, I should not have visited yet another attraction at the cost of arriving very late at my evening destination.

51:50 That is the SS America, an ocean liner that had a long career and was eventually destroyed off the Canary Islands in the 90s.
Thats from the S S United States not the America
42 or 43 years ago I remember driving by and seeing the giant brass propeller

great tour awesome museum thank you ...
very interesting tour,,,thanks
I wonder about dust in these museums. They must have a large cleaning crew or at least an excellent air filtration system.
