Thanks you so very much for all the work you put into these videos. So instructive, inspiring and beautiful to watch. I love your sketchbooks and your work. Greetings from Bavaria Germany.

    Such beautiful sky colours on your video and the photo you shared at the end. Your painting is so pretty, captured the cool and freshness of the scenery. I’m always taking photos of the sky colours. I’m going to paint one of my photos tomorrow. We don’t get snow that often here in England. The snow on the fence the other day was like a gold shimmer of glitter when the sun shon and the snow on the ground had a sliver glitter shimmer to it with this cool blue. Ahhhhh lovely. Plenty of photos taken, time to paint them. 😊😀

    Ooo what a gorgeous reference!😍 I might have to give this DTIYS a try, what a neat spin on it! You did a beautiful painting, the way you lay down strokes reminds me of Bob Ross, not necessarily in style but in the fluidity and confidence and variety of technique. Gorgeous. Have a great Christmas. 🎄💖

      The kitties don't love the snow, but they tolerate it. They usually go out for 1-2 hours then come inside for a few hours. They do this a few times a day. Whereas in the summer they are outside from sunrise to sunset!

  • @wenwake7584
    @wenwake7584 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Happy you've your voice back, Sarah 🙂
    Your paintings are always gorgeous. And those Scottish sunsets and sunrises are fleeting yet spectacular (same for us in Wales). So hard to capture in a limited time, as photos never do real life landscape justice, yet you made snow look effortless!
    Gives me hope when you say you learned a lot after painting a stunning scene. I think, although I'm a beginner, that watercolour always surprises and teaches even the most seasoned artists (pun again, unintentional, lol).
    Love the look of these palette colours. Will have to look through your back list videos to see which pigments you favour now you live in a Northern hemisphere cool climate (excuse my ignorance, but I don't know if you originally come from America or Canada).
    I mention this as I'm trying to build a versatile palette for UK seasons. I love Jane Blundell and the information she provides about pigments and favourites on her blog. Yet, I find, British greens, earths, skies and such are a completely different color palette to our Aussie cousins. I'm sure you've heard this basic knowledge question before, but what are your favourite pigments for British or Northern hemisphere seasons? Any surprises? Any disappointments? Any essentials? Any special mixes (rather than buying £££ mixed special effects paints)?
    I'd be super interested.
    I'm divided between watercolour and gouache right now, so your channel is perfect!! Thanks 👍😁♥️

    • @SarahBurnsStudio
      @SarahBurnsStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I'm constantly experimenting with different color combinations. Even though this palette has 12 wells, I typically only use 3-6 colors in a single painting. fearlessbrush.com/my-favorite-art-supplies-top/ in my supply page I show what colors are in the palette (under 'gouache' section)

    Gasp!!! You must have been born with a rigger in your hands, you made painting branches look like child's play.
    The chances of playing "Surprise!" in the snow are slim if you're a black cat... Flokie easily won that one 😄

    Lovely video Sarah, glad you're on the mend. My family have been very poorly with chest infections that are doing the rounds. Love your snowy painting, what paper were you painting on ? Sadly l didnt get out much in the snow as it was treacherous on our steep hill, plus l got a leg injury😟 You asked me a few weeks ago to let you know when snow was in Glencoe 😀 well l guessed you would have seen plenty of weather warnings for round the country. Look after yourself and have a very happy Christmas Alioban x

    Hi Sarah, curious, do you prefer painting on an easel, or flat, or both? I find it hard to really “see” what I’m doing flat, but it feels awkward to use my tabletop easel. Perhaps an easel I can get under would be better. Appreciate your thoughts. Lovely video. Hello from BC. 🇨🇦

    • @SarahBurnsStudio
      @SarahBurnsStudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer an easel but I have such a small space that I often don't bother setting it up. When I paint flat my neck and shoulders and back hurt from leaning forward.

      No, I'm not on the northern islands (outer Hebrides). They have a more extreme version of short days. For us, we have about 6 hours 33 minutes of daylight this time of year, but the most northerly tip of the outer Hebrides have 5 hrs 45mins.
