@@ritenac6770 To me it's a combination of the entire circumstance. The world goes to shit, his daughter is killed immediately as it happens by the people I imagine he thought would protect them. So he hardens and let's instinct take priority over feelings, makes sense for a man who's gotten so far to have done many questionable things to stay alive.

She was infected just resistant to the symptoms due to a physical block over her brain So to do what she does literally everyone would have to be infected and hope the fungus doesn't evolve again and also magically form a net around their brain. Also her strain might just have been a fluke considering it came from a normal zombie which someone else died too but the doctors who are really incompetent and would need multiple PHD's to even attempt this including in fields that didn't exist until 20 years ago in that universe. But I might give them thst the fungi mutated but if it works how they explained they got no chance. Because even if it works its impossible to mass produce these results and get it to people and even have people accept it instead of saying "wait I need what on my brain?!" Context clues also imply the fireflies jumped the gun and real life implies they would be ruining the cure if anything by kiillng someone who is a live example of coexisting with the virus and if they die it just becomes normal fungus. You can also perform surgery to get that off they have been doing it in brain tumors for over a century

I would also agree the first game implies the fireflies can't be trusted. They are terrorists They are violent with Joel and break the deal so they lack any integrity. They literally beat you up while trying to give cpr to a little girl They lie and say Ellie would want it when we know from multiple points in the story that Ellie does not want to even get hurt in the operation and wants to go with Joel after. Marlene however says "she would want this" but we know from context the fireflies want this to justify all their bad actions by trying to do a good one but the funny part of that is the pure hypocrisy of keeping her away from smarter hands and better equipped ones because they think FEDRA is restricting freedom and oppressing people despite being put in that place by shortages and people like the fireflies as well as being pretty justified in what they do. Yet the fireflies who are so against FEDRA making choices for others because its for the greater good do the same exact thing while trying to get ahead of that organization while becoming a less well equipped version of it. And the fireflies "greater good" isn't anything but a dream its like if I said killing her was gonna give everyone puppies and believed it was worth it and maybe its a good thing but its not possibly going to happen in reality just like a cure which wouldn't save people even if it worked as intended

It's only because of the acting and the characters that this game did so well... It's not even that good of a game. The writing, gameplay, believability, all of it is very, very meh... I couldn't stand it anymore after the DLC. I just knew where it was heading...
Honestly I can partially agree. The plot is kinda meh especially on multiple play thoughs. The puzzle design got bland really fucking quick imo. One of my favorite aspects about the game was definitely the gunplay. Some say it’s kinda of janky which absolutely it can be but I love the visceral feeling that comes with the shooting in the game. It feels like there is actual weight behind the weapon and the way enemies react upon being shot. Although I don’t like all the changes the difficulty settings made, particularly hardened, I appreciate how the game made me feel that every bullet I have counts and not to waste them. Hell, later in the game I got very creative with my brick and bottle throwing use.
