    Get better soon! I think its nice to go over the lenses that you own and see how much you use them. When I started with M4/3 I wanted to cover every focal length I could, but over time I have become very reductionist, pretty much just using the 12-32, the 17 1.8 and the 45 1.8 (which you may want to try at some point, could be a short telephoto/portrait replacement for both the Kamlan and the Sigma 60). So slowly selling off the rest, and I have found I didnt miss them as much as I thought I would initially.

      @photographyforenjoyment  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes Diego, one of the 'pitfalls' of producing items for the channel, is that you get almost sucked-in to buying stuff to experiment with. I think both the 17mm and 45mm f1.8 lenses would indeed replace the Kamlan and Sigma.

    Try grating ginger in a plastic wrap around your leg over night! Ginger works very well also internally, as do curcumin + black pepper + olive oil, Pycnogenol, and Boswellia.

      Wow! I know about ginger being good when taken internally, but using it as like a poultice is a new one on me so that's going on the shopping list! Thanks for the tip.

    what a lovely, relaxing 20 minutes on a late Sunday afternoon 🙂
    that is a carefully curated selection of lenses, and I eyed your 600 f5.6 equivalent with much envy. that reach and reasonably fast in such a small package makes me wonder why I didn't go down the M43 route.
    But APSC it is, and my collection of lenses consists of:
    Fujinon 10-24 f4 (mark 2) - my wide angle Fuji zoom
    Viltrox 23mm f1.4 - my goto video lens
    Fuji 35mm f2 - my standard lens
    Laowa 65mm f2.8 - my ultra-macro lens
    Fuji 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 - my telephoto zoom
    and then my Nikkor lenses: 17-35mm f2.6D, 28-70mm f3.5-4.5 and the GOAT 105mm f2.8 micro Nikkor
    I'm happy with the current line up. I did consider swapping the 35mm for Fuji's 30mm macro, giving me three macro lenses at various focal lengths. I might still go down this route if my photography continues to veer away from landscapes (I've shot 4, yes 4 all year!!) to more intimate / macro nature scenes.
    Hope you're up and fit again soon Alan. I', pretty well housebound myself at the moment and it is depressing isn't it? 😞

    • @photographyforenjoyment
      @photographyforenjoyment  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes Nick, being housebound really sucks! It is so frustrating! Well I hope you continue to get out in the garden as I have been enjoying your latest macro shots on IG an awful lot. There is no doubt that I have acquired some lenses purely as experiments and to feature on the channel (Kamlan), so I think its likely that I will sell a couple and look for more practical alternatives.

    I have several lenses in common with you, but none are in the "pro" category. Most are not weather sealed. But I like a change of lenses every now and then so I pick one for the day and try to get the best out of it. For street I'm often out and about with a Lumix 20mm or 25mm (both f/1.7) on a GF7 (fantastic fast, little, quiet thing)

    • @photographyforenjoyment
      @photographyforenjoyment  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Luc and thank you for commenting. Weather sealing isn't something that concerns me greatly and it has never deterred me from buying a lens as I rarely have a camera out in the rain or spray for more than a few seconds at a time. I must try a GF7 one day, I have always heard good things about it.

    Good review. I use a Zuiko 25mm f1.8 lens on my Olympus OM-D E-M10 (M43) camera. It's a great walk-around kit and the quality of the images is amazing. I do have bigger Full Frame cameras and heavier lenses but I'm more likely to bring the little Olympus out with me. If you are upgrading from a phone to a camera I'd recommend this camera / lens combo to learn on. Get well soon ;-)

    TTartisan 7.5 f2 (including ND1000), Pana 20 1.7, Oly 75 1.8, 75-300, 12-200.

      Hi there "CC", that is a list of quality right there! I think there is one on your list that I need to get - the Olympus 75mm f1.8. They rarely come for sale on the used market but I think a silver one would look great on my Pen F.

    Your videos helped me decide whether to try M4/3. The answer was yes, and though I've barely scratched the surface, I'm enjoying it quite a lot. My M4/3 kit to date: Lumix G5 with Olympus Zuiko 14-42mm F/3.5, TTArtisan 25mm f/2, and Lumix 45-150mm f/4. Fleshing out the primes next.

      Well Ranger, The G5 with those lenses seems to be an excellent starting point. Now that you can enjoy using the format, as you say you can expand on the outfit in due course. Thanks for commenting!

    Hope your condition improves ASAP Alan, along with the weather, I was at Albert Dock on Friday night photographing the wheel and it was baltic, so if you sadly can't get out you probably timed it right. Some long exposures were blurred with the wind rocking my beast of a tripod and chunky FF gear (fav walkabout lens Nikkor 28-105D), I lasted about an hour until I couldn't feel my fingers any more...
    Looking forward to seeing you out and about on here soon, super Adelphi photo.

      Cheers Colin and yes, I liked the Adelphi shot a lot (The 6mm Laowa renders great sun stars). The leg is improving gradually and I hope to be out again very soon!

    I wouldn’t worry too much about the front extending on the 17mm. Like our old manual focus film primes the focus is achieved by moving the entire lens set forward or backward. We have gotten so used to internal focus (to speed up AF) that this now seems strange . Hop the leg feels better soon.

    • @photographyforenjoyment
      @photographyforenjoyment  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you Ira, the leg is 'getting there'. Yes, I freely admit I'm old school and so worrying about that extending front element is probably pointless. It is a great lens.

    Hello,
    I come from Berlin (Germany), have an E-M5 Mk3 and mainly use fixed focal lengths for street photography. My favorite lenses include the Lumix 25mm f1.7 and the Sigma 30mm f2.8. the Sigma 60mm f2.8, occasionally also the Sigma 19mm f2.8. But that's rare, too wide-angle isn't really my thing.
    Maybe an Olympus 45 mm f1.8 will be added, we'll see.
    I always only have one fixed focal length with me, so I don't have to switch and possibly miss a shot. 😉

      @photographyforenjoyment  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there "Spam" (love the name!). Yes I often venture out with just the one lens, it makes you concentrate on the subjects you can cover, and keeps things very simple. Thanks for commenting!

    Hi, Mr Alan. Hope you get well soon. I've recently "discovered" your YT chanel and I like it very much. And also the way you view and aproach lenses and the M4/3 system as well. So I have a question... because I don't have the budget for the Pana 50-200mm f2.8-4 or the Oly 40-150mm f2.8 ... yet😉, I'm looking for less expensive options, for my kid's football games(9 players= short field). I'm looking for the budget Pana 50-200mm and the 40-150mm. Does the last 50mm in the long end to big of a diference in your opinion? Thank you for your time. António from Portugal

    • @photographyforenjoyment
      @photographyforenjoyment  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello Antonio! I bought the Zuiko 40-150mm when I first started with M43 and I loved it. I cannot compare it to the Lumix 50-200mm on quality, but for football matches on a small pitch I would think that the 300mm equivalent from the Zuiko would certainly be enough. I hope that helps and I thank you for commenting and subscribing 👍

    Always nice to see you Alan, I’ll excuse you this time for not doing a “history channel” segment, I hope that that you've recovered completely by now (or at least significantly). To answer your question about the lenses that I own, for my Fuji system I have most of the XF primes including my latest acquisition, the XF80 macro, but my most used and favorite prime is the XF33 f/1.4 (excellent lens). For zooms I have the XF10-24 which is great for landscape “stuff” (as suggested by Dexter), the XF16-80 for just walking around and the XF70-300 for iguanas, birds and to keep my distance when photographing alligators. For my Nikon FM2-N I have three primes, a 28mm, 50mm and 105mm. For the Olympus OM-1 MD I only have one lens, the 50mm f/1.8 Zuiko. Be well, stay safe and watch your step.

    • @photographyforenjoyment
      @photographyforenjoyment  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah as always many thanks Enrique. I too had the XF10-24 lens in my Fuji days and I bet that 33mm f1.4 is a belter. The leg is definitely improving, I am just taking care not to do too much too soon.

    Get well soon Alan, I enjoyed your lens review and good use of the mini turntable which also showed off the tripod in the other video, If nothing else the tripod looked like a thing of beauty. You never need to apologise for staying indoors, I for one appreciate the effort that goes into your weekly output.
    Cheers, Alan.
