I have been of two minds for quite awhile regarding which way to go regarding a Pat’s Easy Change or some form of Quick Hitch you have really helped me decide on Pat’s Easy Change. Thanks for a very well put together video with clear explanations of the pros & cons. Thankfully they are available in Australia.
Extremely useful video. Purchsed this system after watching this video when first posted. We have implements that are category 1 or 2 but our lift arms are category 1. Pat's has an easy change for that. Category 1 at the lift arms to category 2 at the implement side. When you have to pick up cat 1 imps you simply use a bushing over the connector pins on the implement to increase the diameter to cat 2. Works great. This system is so helpful when working alone. Take this guys advice on cleaning and greasing. It makes a huge difference. Since making this purchase we are more eager to get out there and hook up. Thanks
I tried 2 different quick hitches for the JD and ran into the same problems. I thought about adjusting every implement to fit then found the Pats system, which I have now ordered. But this was also a fantastic vid on how to install them, so thankyou for posting
I've been waffling between a quick hitch and Pat's system for my Kubota. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! I'm sold on Pat's now with your great descriptions, comments and demonstrations. Fantastic video!
I've been thinking about getting the Pat's system for my Kubota B3200. This video makes that decision a lot easier! Thanks for putting the comparison together!
Thanks... I just came across the Pat's Easy Change and I found your video very helpful. Now if only somebody would come up with an easy change for the PTO shaft!
Another great thing about the very versatile Pats Easy Change System is it's designed for Cat. 1 implements and 7/8" diameter pins. With most Quick Hitch attachments, bushings are needed that cost in the neighborhood of $40 per pair. Gets pretty expensive when you want to hook up to multiple implements. Very informative video, keep them coming!
Great video. I’ve had the pats quick hitch for about 2 years now. Great product, heavy duty and MADE in the USA. Getting off the tractor to hook up the top link is no problem. Lot of the time your getting off to hook up a PTO. And with Pats , noting is in the way to hook up your PTO.
I agree I went with the Pat's Quick Hitch as well. After doing some research it seemed more versatile. The top link has never been an issue on any of our equipment but the lift arms are another story.
Thanks for your testimonial on the Pat’s system compared to the Quick Hitch. You confirmed my concern: compatibility. It’s impractical to take all of your implements to where they sell a product to confirm fit. I’ve seen quite a few videos that praise the Quick Hitch ( mostly made by folks that sell them). Your video saved me the disappointment & frustration getting something that wouldn’t work without modifications (I don’t mind modifying, but that’s not “quick”). Always a bonus to get a product that works for half the cost of something that might, or might not, work. Thanks also for letting me know where you got the Pat’s kit. Like you, I hate to pay for shipping. Ironically, mine will also be shipped to WI (Iron River).
Good to hear thank you I have since bought another tractor and first thing I did was buy another Pats they really do work well, no complaints after over four years.
Great informative vid and just on time, since I just ordered the Pats hitch yesterday. I priced around and ordered from Rural King. Best price and free home delivery. Now I have two Quick hitches to put on Craig’s List. Looking forward to the new arrival
My vote is for the quick hitch. I’ve got a lot of attachments and modified each one to work correctly with it. Does take time and fabricating skills but I think it’s well worth it, especially for me. I have a small property where sometimes I’m changing between implements multiple times an hour. Without having tools and skills for metal fabrication I can see where the Pat’s quick hitch could be attractive.
Thanks very much for posting this. I was weighing my options between quick hitch and Pats Easy Change but after seeing your video and knowing the amount of time that goes into swapping out my implements I am going with Pats. Safe tour!
seditiouslibel after almost a year now of using it I think they should come standard on all tractors it makes it so much easier to hook up implements and it has worked on all 10 of mine. Thanks for watching
@@backinthewoods2022 I ordered them last evening. I also ordered the PTO quick fit and I really broke the bank with a new set of pallet forks but frankly running that machine by myself tends to wear you down. That and the element of time closes the deal for new add-ons and implements. Safe tour!
I haven't bought the Pat's Quick Hitch system yet, probably in the spring.I did the same thing and bought a similar quick hitch and didn't fit a couple of my attachments. Its sitting against the wall in my pole barn.Great video, thanks.
I just installed mine a few hours ago on my 1025r. The hardest part for me was adjusting the set screws and angles. You made it look easier lol. It’s still a bit of a learning curve. I guess it’ll just take some use and fine tuning.
I love the Pat's on my 8N. The longer I have it on there the quicker it is to swap implements. It's like I've increased the effectiveness of my tractor by 100%.
I have used Pats hitch for a long time. Loved them. I did buy a quick hitch recently and discovered like you did, that it will not attach to all of my implements. Very disappointed. Ill be selling mine too and will reinstall the Pats hitch.
Those easy hitches can be tricky, your implements and other equipment are definitely tools of the trade. Love the ford tractor you have man 😎 awesome work
This is exactly what I was looking for, and for half the price of just about any quick hitch, it's a no brainer. Though I'll probably be welding washers on the end of all my pins instead of using the adapters.
give that quick hitch to somebody you dont like! pats works with everything. quick hitch gets in the way of hooking up PTO . everything you own MUST work with it or it is pointless. that there KU-BOATER looks like she has some size to her. I have a 50hp 6600lb tractor and I use pats easy change. I got cat 1 , I'm wondering if I should have went with cat2 and use sleeves? you need to make a mount to store the lower link spreader. any ideas mine sits in the shop. the 3 best ad-ons for a machine that size for 2-$250 each are pats easy change-hydraulic top link- and 1/2'' x 6'' cutting edge for bucket. (Holland spare parts has the hydraulic top link and hoses and fittings at your door for under $250) nice vidja, I'm going to look for your tractor vidja to see if that pumpkin is KU-BOATER or KIOTI?
My quick hitch is sitting out in the field. I quickly found that every time I changed implements I had to reconfigure the top hook to make it work and some implements wouldn't work on it at all. Bought a set of the easy change adapters and they work great. I don't bother with the adjusting rod as it seems to be more trouble to use. Back up to the implement and lift slightly adjusting the outriggers to both catch then use my normal top link. Quick and easy for all my implements.
I was very fortunate in that when I went to purchase a quick hitch, I called EA and they warned me against getting it for the same reasons you discussed. They lost a sale on a quick hitch but I have since purchased several implements from them because of their integrity. Like you, I purchased the Pats system and love it. I wish EA sold them, they have a loyal customer now.

Well explained and great video! But just a small point, it would be slightly better if you put the 'shim' in the otherway around so that it it slightly protrudes from the 'Pats' and extends slightly along the lift arm to spread the very heavy load out it will be taking. So it needs to be as far away from the pivot point, which is the fat grey greasy pin. Hard to explain, but if you ignored the roll pin and slid the 'shim' right in under the fat pin, it wouldn't work at all. The 'Pats' would rotate until the lower inside edge of the 'Pats' would came up and contact the underside of the lift arm. By the way, none of these quick hitch systems will work on my Ransoms three furrow plough or my old fingerbar mower, as they flop on their sides when unhitched, so each time I have to wrestle with them to get them to cooperate.
14:15 The distance between the lower lift linkages used by quick hitches is a standard set by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The distance for Category 1 quick hitches is 36.8". I own a SpeeCo quick hitch and this distance between the lower lift linkages is 37.3". I'd assume all CAT-1 quick hitches and implements follow this spec.
All manufacturers do not follow the same specs, doesn’t make sense I know, but buyer beware. The Pats has worked on all eleven implements I have and my quick hitch did not work on my Landpride back blade which was one of the main ones I wanted it for so I stopped checking after that.
Thanks for the great video man!! Going to install mine tomorrow :) I've had it a year or even two and haven't gotten around to it as I haven't had to use the tiller. Going to plow one up this year so I figure now is the time to install this. Thanks again for the great instructional video, I for one really appreciate it. Nice place btw. God bless :)
I am glad it works well for your application. Having older implements calls for more versatile design. You are right about hooking the lower arms. That is the hardest part, especially with a back blade. Most of its weight is far back, and the blade contact on the ground acts like a pivot point that does not work in harmony with the process of hooking the implement... Thanks for sharing the information!
I'm very confused about quick hitches. Most of them seem to have problems and have to be setup different before they can work. I like this one which seems to work on most attachments. Thanks for the video.
I'm going through the same issues. I'm going to buy Pat's. A local guy had some for sale for $75 and I didn't get to it quickly enough. He sold it in hours.
I made the same mistake of buying a quick hitch and it not fitting all my implements. What a bummer. I'm going for the Pat's easy hitch and selling the quick hitch also. Thanks for the video.
David Nix yes this thing is great it should come standard on tractors. Now that I have used it for some months it works perfectly on everything I have from new to old.
Good evening Sir, very important information that you just teach me !!! I'm very sad about you loose from the other heavy quick attach, but maybe someone will give you a genius idea so you lose that money. That last small highly adapter quick attach and in reference of Joe Case tractor is very good !!! Keep up the good work Sir !!! Cheers !!! and yes grease is good !!!
I’m leaning this way (Pats) because there is no Quick attach for the PTO! You have to be at rear of tractor anyway for the PTO and as you said, “the Top link is never the problem on a 3 point”. Plus you don’t have that squared off piece of steel in your way to attach the PTO (when needed). Pats just seems so much more user friendly with EVERY attachment/implement. Have you tried applying locktight to all of the nuts on all those screws? Would there be a reason not to? Just seems like I would want to make sure they weren’t loose. Thoughts?
I haven’t one but came loose once I retightened and haven’t had a problem since. I take it off and clean everything twice a year so I haven’t put any on myself
I am having the same issues you mentioned with older used equipment and this will be my solution also .Great video however may I suggest a clip on mic ?
I bought the 3pt quick hitch, same problem, now I'm stuck with it because they want to charge $50 handling restock fee plus i have to pay for shipping it back to them.😩
I have owned both and a quick hitch is far superior. Yes you may have to modify implements to fit because manufacturers don’t build them to the correct specs but it has never taken me more than an hour to modify one and then it is good for life. I can hook and unhook implements without leaving my seat. I guess if you don’t know how to weld modifying your implements could be a pain but personally I hated pats and had to deal with the frustration every time I hooked something up. The problem is the lift arms sway in and out and you have to get them just right to hook up which isn’t exactly easy to get both right at the same time and then get to the three point lift lever. There is a reason every commercial farmer uses a quick hitch. It is the best and easiest way. Another issue is if you have a hydraulic top link that sucker is heavy and also difficult to get the right length if attaching the conventional way.
I have found the Pats works great for what I use it for. I don’t have a problem with the lower link arms being in the wrong position I have 9 different attachments from various brands and eras. I do not weld or have metal fabricating equipment so I would have to pay for any modifications. I don’t feel it to be a nuisance to attach the top link to each implement but I only change out a few times a day maybe when I’m working with the tractor.
@@backinthewoods2022 In your situation Pats works great. Imagine though a quick hitch where everything fit. Ho easy would that be.? Not everyone is in the same position as me and I get that but I have been welding since I was ten years old so it is no big deal to me. I love my quick hitch. If you look at commercial farmers with big tractors they all use quick hitches. An hour or so to modify an implement ensures a lifetime of easy connections.
Yeah, no standard sizes I thought buying a American made one would fit my landpride attachment but it did not. Landprides quickhitch is very expensive so that is why I bought a different one. In the end the Pats works on all 14 of my attachments so in my mind it’s a no brainer unless you have the money to buy all new attachments of the same brand. I try to look for deals on Craigslist when I can do mine run the gamut.
@@backinthewoods2022 Thank you for the reply! That makes sense, I only have experience with Frontier and they seem to all work with the John Deere imatch. I'd say your strategy is a good one, saving money on used attachments and getting work done is pretty sweet. Take care!
Great video. I ordered one from Northern Tool last week and I'm anxious to get it. Only thing was is that theirs doesn't come with the stabilizer bar so had to order one from Rural King. Is it ok to leave the stabilizer on the lift arms during operations or is it just to set the distance for the pins? Thanks
I just use mine for picking up. I installed an after market hydraulic kit on the back of my Kubota L3200 and if I were to tilt the implement it would tweak the stabilizer. I made my own stabilizer from some rod and square tube I picked up at the local hardware store. About six bucks.
Use it on a auger by any chance? As you said the top link is never the issue. Removing a standard quick hitch to use an auger is rather simple, however if this is not compatible with an auger, than maybe I should get the standard quick hitch since it can be removed in a Matter of seconds
That's one of the many issues with a quick hitch, additionally "quick hitch ready" mower decks an brush cutters are more expensive because the have to be designed to flex within the unit instead of just having a link that is designed to allow the top link to swing. My neighbor was mowing with a quick hitch, went into a gully and all the weight of his tractor bent the top link and folded his deck, expensive mistake to make.
I’ve had Pat’s easy change system for the last five years. Great piece of engineering. Enjoy it. Next, get a top and tilt kit from FitRiteHydraulics.com . Those two have served me so well.
Just curious and I may of missed it, but why didn't you go with one of the quick hitch from Land Pride? Guess I should of waited til the end of the video you explain why. Jumped the gun. I have Land Pride QH, but I also have Land Pride equipment and it has worked just fine for me.
I was wondering if the telescopic Lower Links are needed if using the Easy Change ? I'm trying to order a kioti dx10 se and am not sure if I need the Tele Lower Links ?? Great Vid
You're a good teacher. You got right to the point of all aspects. Thanks for the time you took putting this together and editing it.

How have they been holding up? I'm considering cat2 versions for my two smaller tractors. The most time I waste is always swapping implements.
Great no problems at all. There awesome
Just ordered pats easy hitch
Very good video I mean
Thanks. Dry good video !!
I am assuming you would not want to put a negative pressure on them? Say your using a disc mower I guess that question would apply to any quick hitch.
Iam not sure I don’t have any experience with that
good tractor and home is v nice god
Thank you
So, a quick hitch will only work for newer more standardized attachments or it's all a mix depending on attachment/quick hitch brand?
Thanks
lympduck I think you can leave it in unless your using the pto the directions said. Good luck with yours
I just use mine for picking up. I installed an after market hydraulic kit on the back of my Kubota L3200 and if I were to tilt the implement it would tweak the stabilizer. I made my own stabilizer from some rod and square tube I picked up at the local hardware store. About six bucks.
NO!!!
Thanks for video, very useful info.
Use it on a auger by any chance? As you said the top link is never the issue. Removing a standard quick hitch to use an auger is rather simple, however if this is not compatible with an auger, than maybe I should get the standard quick hitch since it can be removed in a Matter of seconds
I do have one and it works great I even have that on a couple videos if you look for the beginning of my woodshed build it’s on there👍
@@backinthewoods2022 I'll check it out. Gotta new subscriber here. Thanks man!
Matt Beale appreciate it thanks
Awesome video... is that a Bouvier (dog). I have one, great dog.
Yes great dog he’s gone now name was Uecker. Thanks for watching👍
So sorry to hear that... I know how much of a family member they become ... sorry for your loss.
Great video, Just joined your channel. We have similar content. I’m shopping quick hitches now.
Pat's works better on mowers because it allows the top link to float were the quick hitch doesn't.
I never thought of that makes sense👍
That's one of the many issues with a quick hitch, additionally "quick hitch ready" mower decks an brush cutters are more expensive because the have to be designed to flex within the unit instead of just having a link that is designed to allow the top link to swing. My neighbor was mowing with a quick hitch, went into a gully and all the weight of his tractor bent the top link and folded his deck, expensive mistake to make.
Yes brother!
I’ve had Pat’s easy change system for the last five years. Great piece of engineering. Enjoy it. Next, get a top and tilt kit from FitRiteHydraulics.com . Those two have served me so well.
I will look into that thanks appreciate it
Are they Forgings or Castings?
Casting I believe
Too bad the QH didn't work out , it is a backsaver, the Pats should help you out a lot also!
Just curious and I may of missed it, but why didn't you go with one of the quick hitch from Land Pride?
Guess I should of waited til the end of the video you explain why. Jumped the gun. I have Land Pride QH, but I also have Land Pride equipment and it has worked just fine for me.
Brad Myers I forgot to put that in there the Landpride was over $400 and the one I bought was $200 less
I was wondering if the telescopic Lower Links are needed if using the Easy Change ? I'm trying to order a kioti dx10 se and am not sure if I need the Tele Lower Links ?? Great Vid
I have not needed mine since I installed the Pats. Thanks for watching
Do you know if you can purchase additional stopper washers?
