Thank you, sir. I love how you explained the effects the pencils have on different quality paper. I've been using the verithins for a long time.....gonna be purchasing some premiers in the very near future.
I have always been a watercolor pencil user, I like how the pencils can do both wet or dry! I got koh-I-noor when I was a youngster and have always used them. I branched out to Faber Castle when I went to a different brand. I do have a 16 set of Prismacolor but they are not very well used. I did enjoy watching your review and appreciate your artwork! Keep doing what you do! Have a better tomorrow.
The koh-i-nor ones are really great quality, unfortunately I can't find them open stock. As I use them up I am thinking of replacing them with Faber Castell since I hear nothing but good things about them
Thank you for this review, I’ve been wondering about verithin, personally i still think I’m gonna be sticking to my premiers, they just fit my art style better and are easier to blend
Cool review, Dave! Prismacolor colored pencils are also my go-to for colored artwork. I like the look of the Verithin on your Catwoman piece, so if I ever see some open stock of Verithins, I'll pick up a few colors to give them a try. Thanks for posting, and stay safe!
Damn I had no idea they where different I thought it’s just the name. I’m trying to see what’s the difference with the 2 150 pencil set... they have different cover pictures on them. Can u share some insight please
if you want a set of great blending pencils without the breakage of the prismas try either the Derwent colorsoft or the Derwent Drawing pencils. The Derwent Drawing pencils are unlike any other as they are clay based instead of just wax or oil. There is no pencil on the market like the Derwent Drawing, and i have tried from the very top shelf lightfast to the bottom shelf kids pencil crayola's and everything in between. Give them a go or even have a head to head with prisma and they will out perform anyone in softness and blending.
I’ve been wanting to try oil based colored pencils for quite a while. But since I’m not sure how I’ll like them I can’t bring myself to purchase the polychromos. So I may get the verithins. When you say to use canson or Strathmore, is there a specific type you would suggest. I have canson xl mixed media, marker, and drawing. I also have the Strathmore toned tan, toned grey, toned blue, drawing, sketch and I believe I have one other maybe watercolor. Of these which would be best? Or is there a different one that would be better?
In my experience it will come down to personal preference. Any of the papers you named will work but the final look will be different on them and it will come down to what you like or dislike. I would just try to work on the papers you have and see how you respond to how the paper and pencil interact and go from there.
What’s up DKG72, have you ever tried burnishing your art work with a tint or a shade with the premiers? I think you will like that result more when you are doing your cool comics.
Thank you so much for this video. I just broke open a new box of Verithins that I got about 20 years ago and they're amazing but I don't really see them sold anymore so I was thinking the Premiers were the new version? When reading the reviews on Amazon, people complain that they aren't as good as the old ones and I think they're probably talking about the same Verithins that I have. Do they still make them?
They do make them. The best place to get them from is Block art supply. I think Michael's also carries them. Verithins are great pencils but you have to be aware how you are utilizing them to get the best results.
Out of stock until September almost at Blick but thankfully found at Michael's online with a coupon! I have a set of 12 but was wanting a larger set. I finally got some Premiers and they are nice but they're like fancy crayons to me. I really like the detail and precision of the verithins.
@@DKG72 wow, what a fast response! Yeah, I dunno, in my place verithins are a bit expensive and for the same price of getting 36 verithin colours, I could get 70 faber castell classic pencils for the same price.
I have been planning to buy good pencil colours for a couple of months now, I used to get the ones like a dollar(I don't live in US) worth but they were really bad, duh! These one costs like between 1k-6k in my currency
@@DKG72 oh and thanks for the video, I might get verithin for now because it's not bad compared to other brands at the same price range, premier would have to wait. 😅💛
@@DKG72 I use many pencils : Derwent, Caran D'ache ( I buy single as expensive them too). But I use also Giotto that are scholar but very good). Ciao dall'Italia!🤗
Prismacolors were such good pencils when I was first getting started. I then got Faber castell Polychromos and they are so damn awesome for details! Just a few weeks ago I got the amazing Caran d'Ache luminance pencils and oh my gosh!! they're amazing.

I do love my Prismacolor Premiers. Haven't tried the Verithins yet. Something to consider for detailed work. Thanks!
Yeah the verithins surprised me...their versatility is their strongest attribute.
Amazing thorough review condensed into a short amount of time so we can absorb all of the information you've delivered. Thank you. ❤
Thank you.
I just bought the premiers and I’m very excited! Thank u
Your welcome!!! Let me know what you think of them.
I wondered what the difference was. Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome. Thank you for stopping by the channel.
Thank you for clarify this for me 😊
You're welcome.
That was cool. I use the verithin indigo blue and also the col-erase blue. I use them for sketching.
I love the col-erase pencils. Verithins are quickly becoming my go to for color sketches...
Thanks bro, I just recently started drawing again and using Prismacolor, learning what to use and when.
You're welcome. Glad I could be of some help.
Love your style.
Thank you so much.

Great info. My son was just asking for a harder lead. Well try the verithins. Cheers.

No difference just more pencils. Way more pencils. It is the premier variety so more of the soft wax style pencils.

Verithins are my favorite as well, but I just found out that they are now discontinued by prismacolor! Have you been able to find a replacement?
Unfortunately I am just now learning they were discontinued from your post...so I will definitely be in the hunt for something to replace them.
Thanks 😊

Awesome thanks

Glad it was helpful!
Would the verathins and prismas work well together/compliment eachother?
I haven't tried that but it would be interesting to see. Will do an experimentation vid to figure out the results.
@@DKG72 wow thanks!
Would the verithins be ok for adult colouring? They have the 36 pack for $20 at costco canada site so im thinking of picking them up.
Yes they will work fine for adult coloring. You shouldn't have any issues whatsoever.
I love those colored pencil prisma color premier pencils
Same here. I love their vibrant colors.

It can but not in the same way as the Premier pencils.
DKG72 ok ty !
Should I buy verithins or faber castell classics?
That's a personal choice. Either ones will work. But it will come down to what do you feel most comfortable with.
