it's crazy because Thunder really were loading up on him and doubling him every time he tried to post up and he still got 38 efficiently. I know Laker fans were mad OKC was playing so hard to ruin the night but I respect it lol And I feel like it also is their way of showing respect by not feeling like they had to play soft defense on him. Not the same. One of Lebron's key assets is longevity which obviously looks great on records etc but masks how great they actually were at their peak..

The bar Kareem set was so high, most people thought it could never be reached again. It took Lebron 20 straight seasons of 25+ppg to finally get the record. The record has stood so long that when Kareem took the record, Lebron wasn't even born yet. Happy to see Kareem still well and able to pass the torch to Lebron at centre court. That although isn't a very official trophy or anything, but him giving Lebron the ball was very wholesome. All this beef about Kareem not happy about Lebron, that's all out the window. Both of them had decades of dedication of hard work. Both understand how difficult their journeys were.

No one is spared from ageing. But similar to CRonaldo and Tom Brady, LBJ has an inhuman amount of discipline over decades on taking care of his diet and body. This crazy amount of dedication from these sportsmen are the main reason they are able to keep in top form despite ageing. Kept their eyes on the prize and kept going. All are role models and GOATs in their own right. Eventually all of them will succumb to age, but it’s the sacrifices (that 99.999% of us won’t) they made in fighting it that makes it impressive.

I think people don't realize enough how crazy good and consistent you need to be to break this record ! This record was supposed to be UNBEATABLE! He still has some years to score and is on top of retired LEGENDS ! He will most likely get past 40k while MJ and Kobe topped at 32-33k !! And to those saying that because he played more matches, he played 3,000 minutes LESS than Kareem and even played less matches than the 3rd (Karl Malone). And even with more games it shows how consistent and dedicated he is to stay on top for so long. Hate him or love him, this guy has always shown respect on the court, he is a true legend, and needs to be used as an example for future generations. 👏🏽 👑
