Hey, Chris. Hi. My name is Jane. I'm a healing touch practitioner for the hospital. How are you feeling?
    00;00;14;16 - 00;00;26;17
    CHRIS NADLER
Sore. You know, I think I can help you a little bit with your pain. Like, okay, I'm all for that, you know? So she explained it to me what it was with the. You know, you don't have to put my hands on you or I can.

Touch or sometimes I'm over the body.
The healing touch techniques that we use. They work with the bio field, so we all have this energy field around us. And that's how we get the EKGs, the MRI's. It's just that light, gentle touch on or around the body helps the body to relax. And then when the body's relaxed, it's at its optimal state for its own healing.

So it's really about putting them in their best position to heal.
    00;00;53;17 - 00;01;08;05
    SHERI CUNNINGHAM, MSN, RN
The Healing Touch program is a non-pharmacological method way that we can help patients with their pain, nausea and other ailments that they might have. It's complimentary to the care that they're already receiving here at Methodist.

She started doing it and I can't tell you what she does. I close my eyes. I try to get deep into thought it was like an extreme, deep relaxation that I felt.
    00;01;19;26 - 00;01;20;29

    Is the pain getting better?
    00;01;22;22 - 00;01;41;27
    KATHY SVOBODA, BSN, RN
Oh, my goodness. Such a huge impact. And it helps me feel better because I have something else to use to help them relax, to reduce pain, to reduce anxiety, to help them sleep. Huge impact and big difference in patient satisfaction. Yeah, they're usually smiling and a lot happier.
    00;01;42;07 - 00;01;58;11

You know, just a good arrow in your quiver to have. You know, I think that we're so dependent upon pills and medication for everything. When I really think that in our body we can we can do a lot of ourselves. So it's just something that will help you with that. And, you know, not wanting to use any opioids or any of that stuff.
    00;01;58;18 - 00;02;00;16
    NADLER
This is just perfect for that.
    00;02;00;22 - 00;02;22;09

Healing touch is very beneficial because there's some limits to how much pain medication you can give before or if you give too much, then their breathing gets too shallow., their oxygen level can can lower. When it gets to those times and maybe ice isn't working or things like that. Then you can use Healing Touch to help bring them that pain relief.
    00;02;22;16 - 00;02;26;26
    BIES
And there's not side effects like there is if you get too much pain medication.
    00;02;27;08 - 00;02;44;01
    SVOBODA
I think the healing touch, it also gives the patient a sense that, you know, we care, Methodist cares to go out of our way and do something extra for them. And it just shows how much Methodist cares for the patients. The workers.
    00;02;44;02 - 00;02;44;22
    BIES
    How are you doing?
    00;02;45;08 - 00;02;47;21
    NADLER
    I'm doing great.
    00;02;47;26 - 00;02;51;09
    SVOBODA
It's just such an important thing to add to patient care.
    00;02;51;18 - 00;03;09;03
    NADLER
Oh, it's huge. I mean, I've been an outdoorsman all my life and able to keep at least fishing. I mean, I can't ski anymore, but at least fish and teach my grandkids and be able to be at all the family functions. God knows what would have happened if I wouldn't have been able to get decent care, especially with the stroke and the cancer.
    00;03;09;12 - 00;03;16;25
    NADLER
I can be taking a dirt nap. I've been they've done well. I can't say enough good things about them. I wouldn't be able to enjoy all this.
