Tips for German Vocabulary: Turning Adjectives into Nouns

  • Here you can find out a trick on how to turn some German adjectives into abstract nouns. There are just a few rules:
    1) The nouns will be feminine and capitalized;
    2) Add an -e to the end of the word.
    3) Add an Umlaut (two dots/sound change) over the vowels A O or U.
    4) Keep in mind this does not work for all adjectives in German!
