- The top-ranked, SEC champion Alabama Crimson Tide (13-0) took on the #2, Big 12 champion Texas Longhorns (13-0) in the 2010 BCS National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. With this win, Alabama claimed its 13th national championship. It also completed a 14-0 season for Alabama, the only such season in school history.
Still my favorite tide game of all time. I was nine watching this 10 years later nick saban is the GOAT RTR
I was too! RTR man!
I bet Texas deeply regretted running that QB option play at 1:30
Yeah, it was an odd choice. McCoy was never really known as a runner anyway, unless I'm mistaken.
Bama Rewind he was a pretty good dual threat in college
yea i remember him being passer not runner... but i do remember him getting injured and thinking texas is screwed
He lead the Longhorns in rushing that year. Then again, that was only like 650-700 rushing yards after 13 games, so more of a testament that Texas's running game wasn't that good / had a committee of running backs. Definitely correct, though. Odd playcall which needless to say cost the Longhorns dearly
CFB RedZone the hit that changed Texas
That flag for unsportsmanlike conduct against Dareus was a horrible call at 10:40. I am so tired of the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in college football.
I'm not really sure how what he did qualifies as unsportsmanlike anyway. Just threw the ball. You see that go uncalled all the time.
If the player is taunting the opposing team or doing some unnecessary showboating type dance to draw attention to himself, then call it. However, if it is a brief display of raw emotion, like Dareus on the film, then keep the flag in the pocket.

This is still to date the last time a national championship game did not take place on Monday night
This was on the Thursday before NFL Wild Card Weekend
My how times have changed
The last time texas was relevant lol
Ill bet you they will be back next year!
Truuuu, but Charlie, aka the worst thing to ever happen to the University of Texas athletic program, is finally gone. So Texas actually has a chance to be relevant again starting in 2017
You think Charles Strong was that bad?
@@blazingcharizard928 Texas is finally looking good again now. If Ewers hadn’t been injured, there’s a good chance they’re undefeated rn
I remember i was on a trip to florida and was in a hotel room when this game happened. I remember i fell asleep before the game finished and i woke up and my parents had to tell me who won. Ahh simpler times
The tumultuous, painful decade of 2000's filled with mediocrity, turmoil, coaching scandals, crippling NCAA sanctions, a near death penalty, bad coaching hires are in the past is over.
Watching in 2021 October 8
bama would have won if colt mccoy hadnt gotten hurt. wait, what?
Of course
Alabama's first-ever win over Texas.
Now there's two
ROLLTIDE
Forgot about the punt pass at the open. Kind of a strange decision, coaches must have felt they'd seen something to do it. Still strange.
I think they got a look that gave them a green light for a fake, but (if I recall correctly) Saban thought they'd killed the fake because Texas changed out of the original look. The punter didn't get the audible.
@@richardpierce4908 you can tell the gunner wasn’t expecting the pass. So somebody missed a call
ROLLTIDE
BAMA FACTOR
Roll Tide! Seems like a good guy but McElroy was just dreadful. The Tide would have almost been better off just pulling some random guy off the street to play QB.
McElroy played this game with broken ribs.
ROLLTIDE
TEXES GOT NOTHING ON ALABAMA
If mccoy was healthy it would've been close
Not true colt McCoy would have been beat up
ROLLTIDE
McElroy was truly awful this game.
