For 2 years now I've had this little side story floating round in my brain. Finally I just sat down, got to work and boom! It's come to life! This all happens in Zone 83, where I get to introduce you to one of the minor villains REBIRTH.
Like promised, the next video will be the next instalment in the redesign series! So make sure your OCs are ready on our Discord server!

Something that I only just noticed that caught my attention looking back, is that the two people on the train with our bird guy here at 1:17 aren't burning. he actually doesn't burn everyone he sees, just select people. some, he spares.
The old lady on the right I assume is because she's old, so she hasn't taken that "Miracle Drug" Rebirth to return to her youth.
This is based on a theory some others had in the comments that the Bird dude was only burning people who took the drug, which turned out to be the phoenix's blood, And all it needed to ignite the phoenix blood was direct eye contact, it seems. Perhaps it's how the phoenix punishes those that use its blood, those taking its lifeforce to extend their own, by burning them to ash, but of course since they're not phoenixes themselves, they obviously can't be reborn from the ashes.
But the guy on the left with the interesting tattoos intrigues me. he gives the bird guy a side-eye before looking back at his phone. and his Design alone is pretty intriguing. Is he another Character we have yet to find out anything about? I'm curious about him. unless he's just a uniquely designed NPC with tattoos and darkened forearms? (maybe they're sleeves? but his shirt is white- I am just curious about tattoo arm guy.)

Love the implication that the phenoix can burn people only because they have a tiny portion of it within them from the immortality pills. Such a good micro-story.
Y'know that makes a lot more sense. I was wondering why all the cool designed characters weren't being targeted but it makes sense if you think about the fact that they look "Aged" like they don't take the pill so they look more gruff and rough compared to all the people with perfect smooth skin and perfect smiles.
Does that imply that the Phoenix also had taken the immortality pills but his kindness towards birds made him chosen to save the true phoenix?
@@Wearenotaloneanymore I think that it means that the bird reached out to him through the other birds, and helped him burn away the thing holding him back from saving the world.
I saw the fire as a burning internal conflicted feeling - is it self loathing, or what? we all struggle with an internal darkness, and i think for many they took the pills because they didn't love themselves. But this fire could also be a rage of impotence, and this man had that in the way that he could do nothing to save the helpless, just feed bird friends.
@@Ruffled_raccoon never underestimate what bottled up fury can do and not just in fictional worlds either. this is what most school shootings in the us are a result of it after all. the victim of a bully can't hit the bully back without getting in trouble for "being violent" while the bully gets off scott free. the "tell the teacher" thing also tends to just increase the bulling more than stop it, even more so as most teachers simply don't care. they'll act like they care enough to make it seem like they do to other parents, but its just the same as how many christians that attend fancy churches claim to believe in god but don't and are just there to make a showing. i knew someone who would attend a baptist chruch in the day on sunday, but would spend the evenings hanging around in satanic seminars in the woods hosted by the baptist chruch's priest's wife.... i only found out about this because i tended to use those same woods as a short cut at times... there where so many people in goat costumes baahing at me while attacking i thought i had stumbled on to a secret furry convention until i saw the ritualistic red circles and black candles... that was one weird night...
Wait, how have I missed this, everytime? I thought it just could bc pyrokinesis, period. But, I like this twist so much more. Only thing is why did one actually grow a Phoenix head? 🤔 Also, I wonder if it got shot in the head at the end bc of the lore that only one can exist at a time.
I like how Ney presents the Phoenix as not just a "Giant bird" With red feathers, but rather makes it so that the wings become actual fire!
I think that this was the beginning of its rebirth judging by the color of its feathers and the fact that the fire starts where the clamps were ( 3:18 )

I also feel like this involves a question of knowledge. The phoenix with its power to set people on fire must have wanted revenge on anyone who used its power. However, did the clients know that "hey I used a real ass phoenix's power to rebirth myself" or the fact that they were informed that a "new technology" has been invented? If so, the people might well as been innocent since they would then reconsider if they knew of the exsistence. This is jsut mindless thinking ekfjnaelf
If you count the guards that come out of the elevator you'll get three, but count after that seen and you'll get two. He totally got one.
This is a perfect representation of Neytirix. The horror of being roasted alive and flesh sliding off you, the ability to make said burning alive funny/cute, and the great story telling to be able to follow the story without a single word of exposition and incorporate other projects of hers in as references.

I went from thinking a guy gained powers and couldn't control it, to thinking a guy gained powers and decided to become the villain, to realizing a phoenix sent its power out to create an avatar to aid in its escape and killing the ppl in the park wasnt an accident, it was just making sure everything worked right. The story telling, the art, the song, all top tier mate. Poor ppl tho.
I'd argue that the power only works on those who have taken the rebirth pill. The people on the train didn't ignite and the strike force didn't ignite either. Maybe our main guys also took the pill but he had the right qualities to "ascend"

Edit, nevermind, just watched it again and saw the posters. I don't think that's the case. I the Phoenix simply chose not to kill anyone on the train. It's primary goal is to escape the rebirth facility, and causing general mayhem would just make the trip take longer, or could even get the avatar killed early. Once at the facility, it prolly wanted to kill everyone there just out of anger, but choose to only kill do it need to escape, but once it realizes the security guard was gonna raise the alarm, it changed plans and killed everyone to make sure noone raised it. The lady in the elevator was just uncalled for tho. As for the guards. Phoenix prime had just been freed, so it decided to consolidate its power to prioritize escape rather than defense. Of course this is all speculation and I may be 100% wrong.
@tokageki haha this was all just my own theory as well, I do like your idea too, the phoenix earned the right to be a bit of a jerk after all, that set up to contain it looked like an awful experience to say the least

But, the fact that it could create an avatar and even fly off after being imprisoned and tortured for so long is a testament to just how truly powerful it is.the amount of resources it took to subdued it must have been staggering, terrible, but still staggering.

I don't know why exactly, but I cried at the end. This is so beautiful, I thought it was another funky animation about Ney's universe and there is THIS. I choke on my tears, this is a masterpiece, I'm so glad I saw it today!

I have watched this what is possibly 37 times over the course of a month or so. The song is SUCH a bop. The animation is so hilarious at the beginning and compelling at the end. All of it is just... Genuinely, nothing bad about this.
This song is catchy as hell, and I love how the music amps up once the phoenix is revealed, showing the pure holy of the creature!
I love how the old lady in the train is the only person we see smiling. There's confidence in old age (and I'm guessing it's also part of what the story is about).

she was probably offered a miracle drug for free but didn't and continued to live her life in her current age or she knew it was made using an actual pheonix and realized she cant do anything about it and decided to turned a young man's head into pootis and you know what happens next after that

I mean, sometimes to do what's right you need to be the villain of the story, and I do rather enjoy stories like that when done well
I adore how adorably goofy yet it gets juxtaposed by the ending of the titular Majestic beast in the ending. And I can't quite point the feeling this gives me but it gives my heart vigor and awe with how it looks. I really hope you do more of these, its just so fun to watch it and admire your work paired with such an awesome track that inspired it!

Personal head canon: Phoenix only burns the people who actively took the Rebirth drug. Hence why we don't see him with smouldering corpses on the train.
They used its blood to make the drug, so I wonder if that's how it burns them, the drug in their veins waiting to ignite around the presence of the Phoenix, or at least its human host like throughout most of the video.

Could also be that you need to have phoenix juice in you for him to burn you. That's why he gets gunned down without lighting up the guards at the end.

This is a master class in small-scale animation. Other than the fire and water, what's got frames, what's animated? The dog walking. Chick's head. The pidgeons. Pretty much Everything else is a still image being moved and lighting effects and it's glorious.
I watched it 40 or 50 times now on loop. Having fully absorbed the storyline and details, I am finally wishing I could watch it for the first time again. Amazing work!
Hope the creators of the soundtrack see this. I really cannot believe the opening/newscaster was part of the song! I really thought you had added that as pretext to make the story make more sense. How did you tailor the animation to the song so well? Absolutely stunning, not just animation and timing but the storyline... not many are capable of writing or conveying such a masterpiece and you built it around a song. And my god your style is undescribable! It has to be experienced to understand. I like the idea that a phoenix's eternal life can be siphoned from it, and that only one can lead to a whole industry, but this story is silently telling you that you shouldn't take from others what doesn't belong to you, and that includes life. What a message, Ney you really don't know how good you are at this.
Oh and another small detail, Phoenix kills through eye contact, but the soldiers had helmets, leading to the ending where he dies.
What if it can only kill those who have taken the pills. For example we didn't see anyone old dying like the granny?
@@NOT_BROLYDon't think the direct eye contact works though. The dog walker had walked past his bench and the guy on the picnic was focused on his partner rather than looking at him.
It may be more of a case of people who have taken the pills (the young man feeding birds is a old person trope, being young is the the clue to having used the Rebirth pills and so they may be susceptible to its powers aka being set alight), or people who have exposed skin as the soldiers were entirely covered up, maybe his powers weren't powerful enough to combust the soldiers inside their protection.

I like to think in my own head canon that these people weren't just randomly bursting into flame. All of them are customers of Rebirth and were reborn younger thanks to the phoenix's power. That's why some who came into contact with the Phoenix's avatar (the young man) never burst into flame while others did. So they already had the power within them the young man could activate that power they can't control. The young man might also be a Rebirth customer, but was someone the phoenix was able to awaken a piece of itself to turn into an avatar.

Hey, maybe the young man might've been taken the pills several times, enough to the point that a large chunk of himself was the phoenix, so eventually the bird was able to reach out to it and take over? Sounds really interesting, probably my favorite hc/theory so far.

@@bingolinging Yes, somewhat. The customers of Rebirth are consuming the rejuvenating power being stolen from the phoenix by the company producing Rebirth. So that is why they are bursting into flames. Perhaps in punishment from the phoenix for their part in stealing its power.

I love your choice of making the captive pheonix ash grey! I feel everyone makes them red or orange, but i think the ash color makes it so much more dramatic when it ignites! (PS: pheonix are my favorite mythical creature, so this was so awesome for me!)

I like how Phoenix looks like he's vibing all the time, the way he moves his head when walking almost makes me not think of the many people he burst into fire that could have easily been spared.

I think it is somewhat implied he isnt burning them just because.
Some have suggested that they are flaring up in flames because of having used the rebirth pills, which i had guess is likely, given we see characters seem unaffected by it (yes, generally known characters in other ney vids, but in general characters that look roughed up or old).
the final sequence with the phoenix makes me cry, no joke. this is so amazing, i love the visuals and the song slaps!

One thing I like is the implication the guy *worked* at the facility, because he knew exactly where to find the elevator to the basement--he's probably was an employee who took the pill, or even a scientist who helped develop it--but he didn't realize it actually was *from* a living creature (probably a low-level employee). Him looking at his hands after transforming looks a lot like when a character goes 'my god, what have I done?' which might be him realizing what his COMPANY--and by extension him--has done. It might also explain why he didn't remotely try to protect himself from the guards--it was protecting the phoenix, and penance for taking some of its blood. At least, that's my theory.
both the song and the animation go so hard that individually they'd be incredible, but combined together makes this an EXPERIENCE
I don’t know what I expected but it certainly wasn’t this! First it looked cute, then started feeling like a comedic fever dream (that feeling never went away… I was in hysterics watching the bob of their head and those blank eyes even as they murdered everyone), then it went full horror/incredulity-mode (I was NOT expecting those detailed corpses-), and finally the reveal of the phoenix was incredibly well done! Such a majestic creature, as beautiful as the horror that released it. I had to pause and rewatch several times to just appreciate the depth of the storytelling and hidden details! At no point in the video did I anticipate what was coming next and I think that just added to the experience and made the second watch unique as well. I loved seeing your side characters too, from ol ‘Zilla to the bartender and grandma! Of course also the shameless Daisy Daycare plug. Dirt Dude ™ must also be appreciated. The climax - with the chains being released to show the raw skin underneath, the erupting flames an echo of the flames that consumed everyone else, the phoenix shooting into the sky - was incredibly well done, BUT I think I might even like the very ending shot more. There’s just something about seeing the sparkle in their eyes as they watch phoenix arc through the sky, before the light fades from them. This is a cinematic masterpiece that somehow is a perfect combination of horror, comedy and majesty at the same time. I’m glad we (Patrons) have been able to support you in realising this story, and here’s to more of you making what you love!! ❤❤

OKAY, so I already wrote a fully-fledged (get it-) comment, but sue me, I’m writing another one. It’s been an hour since release and I’m somehow still watching this?? I mean I briefly went to watch/listen to the OG sound, because it is * chefs kiss * . While listening it dawned on me how well you used it, and obviously the whole animation is tailored to it. Every beat drop has its matching story/dramatic counterpart, and the brief instrumental interludes were both perfectly placed as interludes themselves - travelling in the metro/tram/train(?) and from the lift down to the final destination. And the reveal of the phoenix is accompanied by *the most* epic key change (I had to google the term) I’ve heard in a long time. I just rewatched that segment for maybe the 10th time just now and OUH it makes my autistic little brain so happy! Again, the work you put into this project is INCREDIBLE, and we are so lucky to be able to see and appreciate it!
last little notes: I CANNOT get over that pigeon doing the silly head bop it makes me almost fall over laughing every time. And my third favourite scene has to be that picnic diorama, with the scorched skeletons and picnic baskets, flames licking at the foreground, smoke billowing behind the trees and dark bushes, with our Bird Guy sitting perfectly complacently in the middle of it all, and the pigeons still pecking away! That is one scene I would love to be released as a still/animated frame. The way you animated the explosions/flames is incredibly satisfying, as is the way you animated the water from the taps switching off! So many small details where you can just feel the love and time put into mastering them. Beautiful. The amount of thought and planning, as well as time, to not only come up with the whole story but also map it to the song, is insane. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: you make incredible work, and you’re an incredible person!!

@@Concerned_Custodian I am partial to thinking that the people at the park maybe have taken the pill made from the Phoenix's blood. While they still might be somewhat innocent due to not knowing what it was made out of though. Just a thought really

**In a park of a unnamed city, a man called Phoenix is simply feeding the birds on his boring Saturday with nothing to do. Seeing as he was forcefully fired from his job at ‘Rebirth’ out of the blue, he was upset since he didn’t do anything wrong.
However, the nearby detectives and Neytirux know exactly why the company laid off Phoenix very quickly.. The reason becoming apparent when Phoenix felt a pain with a stinging sensation in his neck..
In the next moments, Phoenix scratched his neck in discomfort, before his head suddenly burst into fire, Anne couldn’t scream for the life of him. As much as he tried, but a single word escaped his mouth- that soon turned into a bird beak.. His head became a bird’s head..
Suddenly he wasn’t on fire anymore. He blinked as his vision looked strange. The pain also stopped. Soon, a voice rang in his head..**
*…H…help me… Phoenix.. Rebirth..must..burn… Burn anyone of sin … Don’t worry about harming those of pure innocence and good.. You’ll know by those who burn in your eyes..
Help me ascend..*
**Phoenix knows not who those voice is… or why his anger for Rebirth suddenly went to lvl9000. Then, he looked at the man on his picnic with his girlfriend..
Within seconds, the man’s head bursted into flames. (That guy slept with other women and works for Rebirth) The woman screamed, then the guy walking his dog lit on fire too. (He smuggled drugs before)
Soon Phoenix understood his powers very quickly.. And when the park set ablaze, he went to the train station to catch a train to Town Centre. Luckily his doubts were fixed when the guy in tattoos and the elderly lady didn’t catch on fire looking at him, proving their innocence.
As the voice beckoned his arrival, Phoenix was soon infront of the Rebirth building… He walked on in through the security checkpoint, and before the guards could question him, he got on fire (he killed people in city at night) . The blonde woman cowering behind the counter soon lit in fire, and the woman calling the swat team of Rebirth soon met her fate looking into the eye’s of our dumb eyed protagonist.
Phoenix had to figure out where the voice was calling for him. His one guess is to get a high lvl security access card. Luckily his search isn’t long as he came across Jimmy Jefferson (a old co worker who bullied him and cheated on his wife’s). With the lvl5 card in hand, Phoenix went into the access elevator and descended.. The voice called and begged him to come save them. As he finally reached lvl -30, the sight before him suddenly made all the questions clear for him.
Rebirth has captured the holy beast that of is the Phoenix, did research and experimented on her to learn that her blood could be used to create a drug and reverse someone’s age to turn young again. This product mass produced, and Rebirth made millions while abusing the poor Phoenix to its near death state.
But not for long. Once the pieces clicked for Phoenix, his decision was made, putting the keycard into a slot and slamming the “release” button for the dying bird’s shackles. Soon, the water spraying constantly halted, the devices lodged in its chest released and fell to the ground, the chains clamping her poor wings unclamped along with the restraint holding her to a post.
All at once, the dilapidated bird fell, trying to recover itself. As Phoenix moved to comfort and assist the bird, the elevator suddenly dinged open as armed men in armor came out. With a second to spare, Phoenix put his own life infront of the bird to defend her while she recovered. Arms out and unable to talk, his decision was already made..
As the bird’s eyes opened and glowed, Phoenix heard the voice..**
“Thank you”
All at once, the wings of the majestic brings lit aflame, the guards covered their eyes at the sight before they Phoenix eventually flew into the air, and burned through the thousands of concrete in its way to make her escape.
Our ‘Phoenix’ did not make it with a shot to the head.. However.. He will rise from the Ashes and make his return to burn bright.. and Ascend.
Nice story. It could be that or anyone who took the medicine and thus has phoenix blood in them is affected and burns.
0:43 i was expecting it to say “Wright” after this but i could have not been more pleasantly surprised by the rest of the video. The horror ,comedy and the epicness of it simply mixes beautifully together. As someone who has been inspired by your works for years every piece of art you create inspires me to create art myself. It so quickly went from oh nice, he's turning everyone into Phoenixes too, to oh god I forgot this is a Neytrix animation XD
The first feeling was joy and silliness, that was the atmosphere of this. The unilateral destruction being supported with this silliness gave it the _Neytirix_ vibe I love, cute and gory. The ending turned around on me though, brought a tear to my eye.
You've created an emotional story, dragged me into it using murder spree disco vibes, and sat me down at the end.
Your work drives me forward to find new heights of creativity, as you've now shown me a new precedent of emotional creativity I've never before seen. Thank You Ney ♥

One day it's some sort of nightmarish abomination, the next it's something cute and wholesome, then the next it's basically an animated music video for a song I haven't heard before with a whole bunch of familiar characters in and interesting world building in the background
I love this. The animation is so simple yet so effective. I'd say it's a perfect mash once again of cute and a bit of Gore here and there.

I think Rebirth here is the company who were holding the phoenix captive, seeing as the company is called Rebirth, they sell sketchy pharmaceuticals, held a bird captive, and have very evil-looking spec-ops dudes. Definitely feels like the corp is the villain here.

God Neytirix's work is so good. Somehow it catches me unaware every single time. Like she seems to be telling this gruesome cute nonsense story and then BAM, she hits you with the big secrets.
1:05 the handle things go to the beat, really cool detail Neytirix! I also like how the person in the background slowly turns to look at phoenix this is an amazing work of art, and the song is an absolute BOP.

I love the attention to detail the most, you can EASILY tell who took the phoenix pill and who didnt, the people who did have a rather simplistic style, easy to draw and not much detail, but the people who didnt (example: the 2 people on the train) look more realistic, their eyes arent just dots or ovals, they have wrinkles.... But what i dont get is why that old lady had Such a warm coat? It seemed like a pretty end of summer or beginning of Fall kinda day
