    Another great video Eddie, you're getting good at this! Seriously though, I'm also super excited to see how it looks in a few years. This street has been horribly run down for as long as I've been alive. I do still have memories of waiting for the bus at the old bus station after a take away from over the road. It was a shit hole then but it's only got worse, great to see it get the love it deserves finally.

    Thanks so much for this update ! I have been looking forward to seeing the bridge getting refurbished 🥳. Me and my colleagues from International Paints nearby have been asking for paints to be given as charity to help with the project for years, but I do not know if this actually happened. Very excited to see the new development nearby materialise, the area has been an eyesore for a while now and change was needed... Although not sure what to make of this new tall building 🤷All the best to you.

    Its great to see this been redeveloped. I can remember getting off the Bus there (no metros them days) and making your way through the streets to St James. I did some chef training in the old fire station that was a experience and a half. Then, opposite the police station who can remember the shop where you exchange your coupons from ciggie packets (Ke4nsitas, if I remember correctly) and green shields stamps. There was also a wall as you head down to the bridge which was called the FLICKR wall, where members of FLICKR wrote messages and down photos to place on FLICKR.

    Wow Eddie,....this is a fabulous view into the future,...thank you. Just for a wee bit of ecological balance, these developments come with a consequence, which is the continued migration into cities at the cost of the countryside. Investment in those places where our nourishment comes from is diminishing at a devastating rate. Food is already depleted of the nutrition we once had in part due to the lack of people to maintain the land. So,.....I luv the video, but there is a much deeper issue behind the development of city ecology at the expense of rural ecology. What I would love to see is investment in rural areas like Amble for example, and other rural towns/villages, encouraging people to populate our magnificent Northumbrian countryside.

    It's going to be so exciting but for me I think they should've done things differently, I would love to have seen that area of Newcastle become similar to Spinningfields in Manchester with open grass spaces, outdoor dining tables and maybe a few residential towers. It's a real shame the whole of Pilgrim Street can't be demolished and built up again like other cities are doing. Then we could have say our own BoxPark like London.
    Also not sure if they are or not, but I think it's crazy to not build say a 2-3 story car park underneath the HMRC site, traffic is going to be crazy.

    • @TynesideLife
      @TynesideLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The area being developed in Newcastle will look similar to the Spinningfield development in Manchester. This too has public realms amongst modern buildings. I went there a few weeks ago.
      They’re building in newcastle a 150 space car park with the idea of investing heavily in public transport infrastructure, rather than having more vehicles in the city centre. All towns and cities are moving away from this idea.

    I wonder what Newcastlers think of these developments? Do they want there city as a tourist destination or as a working city? I’m not from the UK feel free to enlighten me.

    • @TynesideLife
      @TynesideLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Different people will have different views but mainly, people see tourism as a massive source of revenue for the local economy since the death of industry on the Tyne.
      Work evolves and Newcastle is no different but in my opinion, the evolution of the city is making it even more special 👍🏻
