Hotel Review: Big Lynn Lodge- Little Switzerland, North Carolina

- In this episode, Tommy and I journey to a long awaited destination, the Big Lynn Lodge in Little Switzerland, North Carolina. This 100 year old Inn speaks volumes of the history it represents for early North Carolina and life in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The standing pillar out front dates back to pre-Revolutionary War days.
This historical Inn offers amazing views, breakfast as well as dinner that is included in the price of the room, ($125 for weekday visits and $150 for weekends). The food is made from scratch, with fresh bread daily. While the accommodations we had might have seemed dated, there was nothing dated about the bed we slept in. The luxurious bedding and mattress made for a wonderful night's sleep.
We give the Big Lynn Lodge a solid 10/10!

As a kid in the 80s... I remember our family had just left Grandfather Mtn and was heading to Little Switzerland. When we got there, the road seemed straight up and a single lane road. I was terrified! I told them to just set me out at the bottom there and they could ride up without me. Its strange how I remember that Tiny, winding, straight up road. I guess over the years, they have changed it? But I remember being scared to death! Lol

I was telling Tommy this true story I read about a couple who happened on to a diner when they were driving through Route 66... They got out of the car, went in, and noticed that things just felt and looked weird. Like the people in there were dressed in late 50's styles, etc... They got creeped out and left. They drove to the next place, which was quite a ways up the road and mentioned to the waitress about the place they'd just come from and she told them that diner had burned down in the 50's. I was like... DUDE... what if we kinda entered a time warp where we saw Little Switzerland that day as what it might have been during it's not so glory days????
Whatever happened that first time, the second time more than made up for it and we would hand down go again. Absolutely loved it!!!! And there's so much to do there, that we really needed more than one day.

@@enroutewithchuckandcherie That's our biggest hope; that we can get together soon. Every time we try to plan something lately, it falls through because of other things coming up or happening that we have to do. I guess that's life, but... UGH!!!!

I told Tommy that I really believe we entered like a time warp type of thing that first time. Like we saw it as it was a LONG LONG time ago. This was completely different. On every level.
