"she has since explained she wanted the issue to get attention so did something unforgettable and was watching too much Little Britain at the time" genius move - probably over a million people have watched 9 minutes about transgender issues to get to the very end bit. bravo!
However, Lauren has said elsewhere that the presenters and the psychologist weren’t “taking the subject seriously”, and they were “talking nonsense”, so she decided to mess around instead. What she thought about the presenters and the psychologist was absolutely wrong and the end part was so stupid. It just made her look even madder than people already thought she was.
As a trans female myself, I can honestly say, that Miss Harries makes me feel as if I have absolutely zero issues or any real obstacles to overcome in my own life. lol, she came across extremely rude, self indulgent and completely BAT-SHIT CRAZY!
@@CalvinistBriton Just letting you guys and girls know that if you wanted to see something more recent with Lauren Harries she went on a show on Channel 4 called "Naked Attraction" and when she got turned down basically took it all personally and stormed off haha. Even though she was rejected because of her rudeness and attitude. Hope ya'll having a blessed day and peace out. Dan
As a transgender woman like myself, the word trans people is not offensive to me and this is the first time I ever heard trans people being offensive. Trans women yes but do you forget that Trans men exist because they do and trans people refers to the community so how is it offensive, trans women aren't the only ones in the community, there are trans men also. Harries did come off pretty snobby and she and others like Caitlyn Jenner has lived a very privileged and could afford all the surgeries, going off subject a bit but it's well said and honest that we need more recognition from those who don't have much money and could spread awareness to those who are suffering and isn't able to get the necessary medical treatment to transition, some can't get insurance or the proper insurance and almost all the states in the U.S, the surgeries aren't covered by insurance and some people actually have trouble even getting health insurance and a lot of places won't even prescribe hormones without you having insurance.
It would've been a lot funnier though if she left out the part about her up and coming show and instead said "now, there's just thing I want to say - Eh eh ehhhh! Eh eh ehhhh!"
3:57 "'scuse me one moment, but I don't like the sort 'em quote term trans people" oh shutup, stop attacking him, he's not attacking you, yes you are a woman, but we can't say all women go through what you have. It's like saying 'all men find it hard to coming out' not it's gay/bi men, we have labels for things, even woman and man are labels.
I personally don't understand her dislike of the word "trans people!" There are both transgender women AND men, therefore the term 'people' seems appropriate!
I just found this hilarious. Lauren reminded me so much of Ann from Little Britain with her outburst of frustration. Sometimes it isn't always about "you" & you have to be patient & polite and respect others' right to express views or speak.
at first i thought she was shouting EH EH EH because she was pissed off that they were ending the interview and trying to get their attention or something but i'm sure afterwards i heard her say "i just wanted to say that" um WTF, why did she want to shout EH EH EH!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! even if it is a reference to little britain, which im not convinced it is, why would she just want to say that? i'm so confused, but it sounds like everyone else is too
I must admit I can't see why she got so upset about the word "transpeople"- we're talking about people who are between genders (at least for a while) so it makes sense, it's not discriminatory at all. But then, she was just as "precocious" (Read: facetious) as a boy.
At the end, Lauren did an impression of psychiatric hospital character Anne from Little Britain, shouting her catchphrase "Eh! Eh! Eh!"... and then she also appeared to stand up and grab her breasts. We just don't know why she did it. Her actions got her banned from This Morning though.
I think there are two reasons, one of which is that Lauren can’t look some people in the eyes, because she isn’t as confident as she seems, but also because Lauren doesn’t always tell the truth in the media, nor on social media. 😲
What a very rude and arrogant individual, I accept her comment relating to "Tans People" however she makes reference to this but has no alternative so how can she argue this.
Geez, they really weren't very good at keeping track of the tiny amount of time they had, saying they had to finish only 10 seconds before commercial made for a terrible and disorganized ending. Wasn't it odd that she kept talking to the ceiling? It's natural to look up when you are trying to recall something, but to keep speaking at the sky and the floor is a bit off-putting.
I don't think transpeople is offensive. If you can have a transman or a transwoman, then why not collectively refer to them as transpeople? And then the weirdness at the end...
Transexual is a label like "woman" or "man" it's how it's used that makes it good or bad, if it was just acceptable to call a transgender person a man or a woman after their op then they wouldn't have a community and she wouldn't want to be their spokesperson. xx
If anyone saw this who happened to be on the fence about these issues, then they would likely feel more prejudice towards tran-genders as a result of her being an unrepentant bitch. She is doing more harm to her cause if anything.
@@Dreamskater100 Lauren said in interviews elsewhere on TH-cam, that the presenters and the American psychologist (Dr. Kenneth Dempsky) weren’t taking the subject seriously, nor did they know what a transperson goes through, when Philip and Holly were willing to learn and the psychologist works with transpeople, but Lauren cut off his answer to Holly. So, Lauren decided to make a mockery of herself (not for the first time) and the whole segment by impersonating the character of Ann/Anne (played by David Walliams) from the BBC comedy show, Little Britain.
You can still be a trans and be a woman, it shouldn't need to affect that. Trans people should be proud of who they are and I Feel too often we feel the need to blend in and pretend we're exactly like everyone else, when our situations and experiences dictate otherwise.
I wish trans people would make their minds up. One minute (like Lauren said) they want to be considered an actual Woman, not a trans Woman. But now you're saying you don't want to pretend to be like everyone else. Im assuming that means that you don't want to be considered a Woman? The rest of us are unsurprisingly confused.
If they find so many things problematic, why don’t they just isolate themselves off to a little village of their own? There’s not many of them and most would be thrilled not having to interact with them.
people have explained what they think it is in the comments if you scroll down a bit - as far as I know Lauren herself has never explained officially what it was all about
Why have we got to think of a new word, ot doesn't make sense. Because whatever word is chosen, will be used in exactly the same way. If there are people determined to call out names, they will do it, whatever the name is.
Despite the unfortunate last few seconds, that was a good interview on a difficult subject. Lauren’s point about language is valid as was the interviewer’s response about the general population’s difficulty in knowing what terms to use. As always, education is key.
She was doing an impression of a character on Little Britain played by David Walliams. The character is called Ann, it is blatantly a man dressed in a womans nightdress & she wears big thick rimmed glasses, she gets into various situations & her catchphrase/gag is "ehhh ehhhh". She does things like lift her nightdress and piss in a stream etc, it is a funny character google it.
No one person represents the whole trans community. I'm sure there are people Lauren would be embarassed about too. I really hate when individual transpeople(sorry Lauren it's the best word I have) are singled out and cast out to the wolves for being too weird.
Not the best interview shes done but there was method in her madness she did that at the end to try draw attention to trans issues which did kind of work everyone was talking about the interview when it happened. Shes a good soul and her heart is in the right place and i really admire her confidence and how she isnt afraid to be herself. Love you Lauren !
She started off pretty well but it was hard to watch after a while. I don't like when trans people get too specific about trans terminology - what she says is correct but I don't like when people pretend that people are just people, being trans does affect your lived experience as she herself can well attest to. While people are too quick to label you still need to be able to describe your situation and you can't just write away differences.
The reason I think she made that noise at the end is in reference to Little Britain. One of David Walliams characters is him dressed in drag and only making that noise.
Shame, she seems nice and logical and then goes and spoils it at the end. Also, her appearance her is very nice but she's gone totally OTT in Big Brother, with the negligees, stockings ,sussies and heels so high she can barely walk in them,
I’m all for people being happy but seems like she got lost somewhere along the way from that sweet little boy who was mannered … he’s lost now it seems
