Hi you all! This is Michael LaTella and I think of you always, I never wanted to leave there, it was the most rewarding job besides my medical field, to see and feel all the children's happy faces and singing songs. Before I left was being Santa's Head Elf, I'll be back again soon ❤❤
Just rode the train 09/05/2024. Great way to spend a few hours. Unlike other park train rides, this one doesn't beat you to death. Our host was Mark, Great funny guy. Worth every penny !
I take this trip a couple times a year. never gets old. I still have anxiety when we get robed. the cowboys always remember my son as he grew-up from the time they made him cry till now that hes 18. one of them bent down to my son and said don't worry its just play acting. and he gave him a spent blank from his gun.
I lived just outside of Williams on what is now Coconino County Park property...Cataract Lake. Then it was 90 acres with two ranch houses. Williams was in a severe state of depression. I processed firewood for Crazy Jerry until a young friend I got a job for there lost the fingers on his fretting hand during a splitter mishap. He was 15. I didn't want to go back to work, though Jerry begged me to. I paid 60 dollars a month and drew my water from the lake until the Highway Department issued me a cease and desist order so they could use the water to build interstate 40. I loved the feel of America before the interstate system. Now everywhere is almost like everywhere else with the ubiquitous Mickey Dees and such. I grew up in Phoenix in a part of old town which was taken for the cross town freeway...the Moreland corridor. Too many people in such a fragile environment. All that said, I would love to bring my wife to Williams once again and see what it's become. We don't usually do the tourist thing, but we would like to sample the train ride, the hotel and see what my beloved once home has become. Now living on the Canadian border on 50 acres within a state forest, I'm not a fan of what America has become, overall.
We made a trip to the Grand Canyon 2017 We want to go again 😂❤. The train we rode from I believe Williamsville to the Canyon was older we saw the shoot out did the train ride, ate at the very best restaurant, went to the Canyon, rode the train back. We loved all ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊
This was an awesome train rid especially for my granddaughters and grand son very exciting for the kids to see jow the pioneers traveled could never get this experience in text books experience the real deal
Me too. I agree. After an 2 day overnight stay out all over the s-rim, my feet were tired. Nice to sit in a plush a/c carpeted dome care with a drink in hand, even if it did get robbed, LOL.
I was just on it on Tuesday went for my 20 my family trip used to go when I was a little girl the conductor would run a penny over for me great entertainment and amber rose was an amazing hostess and love the gun show had a picture of me a little 9 yr old on the horse and my favorite memories as a kid I highly recommend taking your family on this trip and your kids are going to love it and remember it for life love the grand canyon train
Yes, and it's "one of the biggest natural volcano areas in northern Arizona." Which means there are other biggest natural volcano areas in northern Arizona--which means there are smaller ones too. I wonder how many volcano areas northern Arizona has?
Too bad the Santa Fe railroad didn’t keep the original route running through Downtown Williams in addition to the Crookton Cutoff - until 2018, the Amtrak Southwest Chief stopped at a small platform located on the outskirts of town, and people had to take a shuttle bus to Downtown Williams. The ATSF built the Crookton Cutoff for a good reason (to provide a smoother route for freight trains), but if they had rebuilt the original route through Williams as well for passenger trains to use, then the Southwest Chief train could have made a stop in Downtown Williams and passengers could transfer directly to the Grand Canyon Railway at the same location.
There here. Most don't do the train because they are stopping thru. This is something you gotta put some time aside for. Spread the word they will love it and the people here have a very chill vibe.
What a disappointment based on another youtube review we decided to book this train ride 05/02/21 Don’t waste your money drive to the canyon cost was over $600.00 for my family of four round trip first class served a stale muffin and cold cup of coffee. If you don’t want to do the drive yourself from Williams You can rent a round trip van ride much cheaper and see the same boring sites along the way a lot cheaper.

Interesante el recorrido en tren hasta el Grand Canyon, recuerdos del 2016.
This is on my bucket list.
It is on my parents' bucket list too. My husband and I booked a trip for them as a surprise next Spring. 😁
We are going in a few weeks, looks awesome!
Had the opportunity to ride the train back in 2015!
Awesome now I really can’t wait to go next year in May!
Looks like lots of fun.
Good old wholesome fun for the kids and family.
This is Very Memorable
Our car wasn't peaceful. We were in the crazy car. So much fun ! 💜

I'm going to the Grand Canyon in September from Chicago on the Southwest Chief, and I'm going to go on the Grand Canyon Railway.
So beautiful
1:27, 2:47 #29 is actually a sister to our #33 that we owned at Hocking Valley Scenic Railway in Nelsonville, Ohio.
you seem to know your stuff about the GCRY, do you know if SP&S #539 has a shot at running again?
Buynot I doubt it. They could sell it to someone that could run it and trade it for an inoperable fireless cooker that could run on special weekends
I'm going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also scared of heights
“Biggest natural volcano here” as apposed to those man made volcanos out there

To my east coast fam: wanna make a super memorable moment for your kids, grandchildren or nieces and nephews? Book the polar Express in December!
Why do they keep saying it's a real train i never thought it was fake

You need to get better horn for those F40FHs (that’s not a misprint) you have. Like a First Gen K5LA.

Are any of the train cars peaceful ?
Hmm did the southern pacific run by Williams
Bandit: Thank you, pal!
(Young kid holds out a dollar bill)
You’re the man!
Him: Here’s a dollar...!
Bandit: Why, thank you!
Did this last summer. Btw don't drive just take the train. And also it takes 2 hours to get their
You only get three hours at the Canyon itself. Seems to me if the reason you're going is to see the canyon, the train doesn't make much sense.

Good grief are there any melanated folks?
In a day and age of domestic terrorism where people actually get shot and killed, is it really a good idea to have staged train robbery?
lol
Domestic terrorism? Put down your pacifier man.
Are you serious or just plain stupid...
