Ewout Pierreux is een leerkracht van de Kunsthumaniora in Antwerpen en als ik Ymre over hem hoorde spreken, dan verwarmde mijn hart. Ik had een droom - de ES academie voor jazz, een samenwerkingsverband tussen de verschillende jazzopleidingen (waaronder het conservatorium) en jazz muzikanten en ik was al vrij ver toen men mijn droom kapot maakte door snobisme en financieel eigenbelang. Vlaanderen heeft talent en doet niet flauw, mijn naam zal straks ergens voor staan en die meerwaarde stop ik graag in projecten die toekomstgericht zijn. Ik heb de muziek achtergelaten en ook Ymre speelt hoe langer hoe minder saxofoon - waarom moet men alles wat mooi is saboteren - met een beetje goede wil maakt men er z'n paradepaardje van en ook al heeft men van het pand in de Coveliersstraat z'n zoveelste winstproject gemaakt (dat waarschijnlijk nog verlieslatend zal zijn ook), hier in de straat is er een huis afgebroken en aan de andere kant staat het gebouw van Calodar leeg - perfect om beiden te gebruiken voor iets dat uniek is in de wereld (en hopelijk kan ik Ewout en zijn charmante vrouw, Tutu, aan de eerste lichting toevoegen. Neen, ik geef niks meer uit handen, Antwerpen had z'n troeven kunnen uitspelen, maar heeft gekozen voor praal en prestige. Ik ben mijn eigen, bescheiden zelf gebleven, het meisje dat kon dagdromen als geen ander en geloof me, dat is wat er aan het einde van de rit overschiet, want anders is ALLES voor niks geweest.
