This literally made my day!!!! Nothing like a traditional W. African dish! Can't wait to try this recipe!!!! I'm a rice girl though. So I will definitely put this one over a nice bowl of rice!!!! Thanks Kezia!!!!
oohh Kezia this receipes brings me back in da days!! Im from Senegal but i love this soup and all foods with palm oil (Ghana, Nigeria, Congo, etc.) Just so healthy and so delicious! Temptatioooons!! I will try it some day! lol! thank you for sharing it!
Hey Kezia I made this and it tasted DIVINE!! I've always wanted to make a simple vegetable soup but didn't have any recipe but now thanks to you I can. Thanks hun, stay blessed xxx
My guy is Nigerian. he made this with spinach. I'm going to surprise him and cook it for him the right way. I'm American. thanks Kezia.............but if i could just learn the broken english !
Kezia this looks so delicious and I've never even eaten This culture/type of food. One day I will get the chance tho, it reminds me of a big pot of greens with ham hocks lol
Thanks so much for making this video! I'm studying abit away from home and I miss home cooked meals. I will be trying this out soon! My mom would be shocked I'm cooking Nigerian food haha. Akwa Ibom Isongo Love from Canada xo
Very interesting..... I have a question? Is Afang leaves and Callaloo almost the same thing? In Jamaica we et are Callaloo with salt fish like a morning dish.
babysimone In America, we eat collard, turnip, kale, or mustard greens. I love seeing the links of African culture in the diaspora! We are all uniquely different, but share so many cultural similarities to our Motherland, Africa.
Hi Kezia, first of all, I must say, you're doing an awesome job. I've been following your blog and channel for such a long time. But could you do a breakfast recipe? I'd really love to see that. Thank you!
Me too, I am going to create this dish for my friends and my special guy. I am curious to know if I could add Egusi to the soup, should I? I can not wait to prepare this recipe. Thank you Kezia.
Fanouvvi nope different soups in Nigeria have different process through which they are made. you should youtube how to make egusi soup. I promise, you will understand what I mean.
smilechynwa I know how to make egusi soup; I use goat meat, dried shrimps. onions, so forth and so... I seems like I tasted a similar recipe to Kezia that a Cameroonian woman cooked but she added egusi.
Those didn't look like afang leaves, it looked like nkong leaves also known in English as fluted pumpkin leaves. I kept looking at the girl chopping the leaves and that was definitely nkong not afang. I'm from Akwa Ibom state so I know. Good job sha.
I recently had my first experience with Nigerian food, well just African food, specifically Nigerian food. I had Fufu for the first time, is the stuff you served with the soup the same thing?
Oh gosh why did I watch this? Now im seating here starvin and what im about to eat aint that hype :( lol but thanks for sharing kezia! In my country, we cook our 'eba' (called fufu) and its a task lol.
Hi Kezia, tripe is my favourite thing to eat but I don't eat red meat any more, is there a vegetarian or chicken alternative please, I know it won't be the same but I must try, this looks so good x
I feel ashamed to say I actually hate gari! Maybe if i tried it with another traditional dish like fijou-beans cooked in palm oil and other spices (I'm Congolese and a 1/4 Angolan). This soup looks very similar to something we call pondu. But we use smoked catfish, no beef and cassava leaves. Its funny how Africa is such a big continent with loads of tribes but we still link together. I migjt try this out looks TASTY! xx
Jessica Sebastião I don't like garri either. I don't eat garri, pounded yam, amala, fufu and the rest of the things like that. I'm Nigerian and English. I've lived in both Nigeria and England (I currently live in England).
+Jessica Sebastião Try pounded yam or semovita. There a lot of other substitutes for garri. Am not the biggest fan of garri either. I actually prefer to use oats flour to make my "fufu". I know it sounds weird but it works and it is a bit healthier than the regular fufu or garri.
This is vegetables not afang mrss girl cook.i don't even understand what you are talking about. Vegetables is now turn to afang ,TH-cam cookers i dey great oooo
You came to the party late.. we've already established it's not afang hence the video title??! so pls do me a favour and don't watch my videos if you don't understand

Definitely going to make this one. I don't have afang leaves but I do have kale and spinach.

In Jamaica a soup that is made with this green leaf is called pepper pot soup
Very interesting..... I have a question? Is Afang leaves and Callaloo almost the same thing? In Jamaica we et are Callaloo with salt fish like a morning dish.
I was also thinking the same thing!
babysimone Hey simone, they are a bit different in terms of taste and texture, but do look similar. #PerksOfBeingJamaicanAndNigerian lol
Ok good to know...
babysimone In America, we eat collard, turnip, kale, or mustard greens. I love seeing the links of African culture in the diaspora! We are all uniquely different, but share so many cultural similarities to our Motherland, Africa.
Yvette S
One of my favorites!

This looked great.
Hey...thank you for the recipe. I am wondering..is waterleaves similar to watercress?
Is this the same as fufu? Looks so good!
love this! love's amazing !
Beautiful!
In Jamaica it's called calloloo I love eating this vegetable
Looks delicious
Hey, i was just wondering whether this is the same as the Yoruba soup Efo riro... It looks the same just that we add something called iru.
I'm from Congo and wanted to know if 'eba' is like fufu? xo! :) food looks great
La Merveille yes it is
Although both are made from cassava and round, taste wise, they are not even close.
It is not like very different, and what i mean by different totally opposite hope i helped :)
I'm from DRC
...ok
Me too, I am going to create this dish for my friends and my special guy. I am curious to know if I could add Egusi to the soup, should I? I can not wait to prepare this recipe. Thank you Kezia.
+Fanouvvi I would not suggest that. Egusi is made differently than vegetable soup.
smilechynwa what are you suggesting? I thought that Egusi could be made with any type of stew.
I know this is late but you probably can Kezia comes from Calabar basically borders Cameroon many of the food and culture similiar
Your videos are great can you do one on how to make egusi soup
Those didn't look like afang leaves, it looked like nkong leaves also known in English as fluted pumpkin leaves. I kept looking at the girl chopping the leaves and that was definitely nkong not afang. I'm from Akwa Ibom state so I know. Good job sha.
Yes it was an error on my part. Will have an updated version. Thanks
Looks DELICIOUS
Making this asap!!
Hi
Was this in Peckham please? I mean where you got the vegetables
Lovely hun x
I recently had my first experience with Nigerian food, well just African food, specifically Nigerian food. I had Fufu for the first time, is the stuff you served with the soup the same thing?
looks delicious but very spicey!
The lady who was cutting the veg has great knife skill:-((
I'm sorry but did u just wash the leaves in the sink?
Yes she washed everything in her sink that looks sparkly clean!
Keesena glasgow I'm sorry but... ewwwww 👎
If your sink is clean there's nothing 'ewww' about it.
Looks good,
ur very good at cooking
Akwa Ibom Isongo!!
Oh gosh why did I watch this? Now im seating here starvin and what im about to eat aint that hype :( lol but thanks for sharing kezia! In my country, we cook our 'eba' (called fufu) and its a task lol.
Mmmm this slyly reminds me of tuo zaafi from ghana!
Hi Kezia, tripe is my favourite thing to eat but I don't eat red meat any more, is there a vegetarian or chicken alternative please, I know it won't be the same but I must try, this looks so good x
Heyaa! Smoked turkey is a must! It tastes amazing and this can be eaten with fish like mackerel or chicken! X
O fantastic, yaay I'm so excited to cook this. Thank you x
Is there anything that you can add in instead of the tripe? I tried it at a Nigerian restaurant once and didn't like it :( xxx
You can skip the tripe
beef is fine on it's own! you can even use chicken instead! X
Awesome thanks hun. Chicken sounds good! xxx
👍
Shaki is called guru in Zimbabwe 😃
ulusu in ndebele
where can I get waterleaf
Tanks love it
is this dish eaten with a spoon? or with the hands?
Best eaten with your hands. I feel when you use cutlery to eat this type of food, it changes the flavour.
+Abiola! lol ikr. i have no idea why eba and soup always taste better when eaten with the hand. It just does.
+Abiola! PLease tell me how do you eat a soup with your hands. I am from the USA , not trying to be funny, just need to know how is this done?
cywoods60 It's not exactly a soup, it's made of leaves which is easy to pick up with the hands. Also, the food absorbs the juices.
matebele na fufu!!!
eza matembele?
Kai!! Calabar people can cook sha.
Can this be done without the tripe?
Yes
Yes!
Wow cant believe you chopped the scotch bonnet without wearing gloves. I could never do that, my fingers would be on fire
I knew mommy was cooking I could tell by the way she cut the onions. Lol
Girl you are wifeable!!
b. patricia.
U know she is
JMJ4life
Also your name is so pretty!
can you make Agushi stew Ghanian style
yes but my bf is Ghanaian and they have their own variation
I believe they also spelled Agushi
yes it is
miam miam
I feel ashamed to say I actually hate gari! Maybe if i tried it with another traditional dish like fijou-beans cooked in palm oil and other spices (I'm Congolese and a 1/4 Angolan). Its funny how Africa is such a big continent with loads of tribes but we still link together. I migjt try this out looks TASTY! xx
Christine Nigeria my aunts do the same thing its tastes vile! And don't even get me started on fufu, I can't stand the texture
Jessica Sebastião I don't like garri either. I don't eat garri, pounded yam, amala, fufu and the rest of the things like that. I'm Nigerian and English. I've lived in both Nigeria and England (I currently live in England).

smilechynwa I don't like pounded yam or semolina either lol it's a texture thing I can't deal with the squishyness
SammySingally you and me both, can't stand any of them!
But these leaves are edikaikong na, not Affang.
NICE ONE KEZIA
Thank you :)
I don't eat the meats put in there nonetheless it looks great
You could make a seafood afang stew, using different types of fish. Delicious.
Abiola! Will try it
The leaf in the video is not Afang leaf. Na wa-o
We did use afang leaves it was mixed with the greens....
Well done girl! You will definitely get a good husband no doubt about that 😃
This video makes me want to have tripe.. Mmmm
Looks Very Tasty!!!
Hope To Try This Dish One Day!!!
IG: roromaxn ;))
