More could be done to address injury analysis and make the game safer. They focused on the head injuries, and that was great. Even though they might have misinterpreted some hits, they probably did a good job of erring on the side of caution. However, nobody is looking at the knee/leg hits in the middle of the scrum, where it's harder to see what is a legit hit, and what might not be. You have to consider whether a certain type of contact could have been avoided. This is where they need to bring in martial arts experts because that is their business. A LOT of players have martial arts training these days. Is there a code of silence on this issue? Do some coaches (including assistants) condone such, without overtly saying it? There is a risk/reward curve, and the players/teams that generate more injuries seem to feel that the risk of getting caught (next to nil unless it's in the open field) is worth the reward of taking out a #1 position player.
