I know that this is majorly off topic but did you see Mr. Enters review of Turning Red. Also love seeing your videos on pokemon and Yugioh dude. Keep em coming.
Mirror B is okay here in Colosseum, but in XD, his theme music alone blows his appearance in this game out of the water. In his words: let the music play!
It’s definitely different in colosseum which is why I feel it’s unique but I do have to agree, the XD music for Miror is other worldly compared to what we were introduced to
I think XD (this game’s sequel) is better in every regard except the tone of the story, but Colosseum set the stage for XD and gave it a good foundation to stand upon. Let the music play!
I'd argue there's some other things that Colosseum does better like the catching system cause it's literally possible to waste your Master Ball in XD, and half of the Shadow Pokemon are stuck on Citadark Isle where it's a big halt of the story since it's one massive island that takes literal hours to traverse.
@@averytubestudios I'd argue it's better to use the Master Ball on Metagross due to the difference in catch rate, this is also ignoring the glitch that makes the Master Ball infinite
Omg Gale of Darkness was my favorite game to play as a kid! I love the fact that Eevee is your starter and you can have any Eeveelution (Gen 1-3) super early in the game. Plus unlike most Pokémon games, Colosseum and Gale of Darkness aren’t hand holding at all so after the very short tutorial you can practically enjoy the game.
I played XD as a kid but didn’t learn about colosseum until later. I wish they had the balls to make another Pokémon game like this, the story had some darkness to it, the region was somewhat gritty and crime ridden, the protagonist was a criminal who betrayed his gang, it was so different but it worked so well. Not to mention it was difficult, especially with all the battles being doubles, which made the battle looks grander which fit the grand battle themes. The plot was simple it had some really cool ideas, the shadow Pokemon were basically living weapons and taking them back from the bad guys was a really cool mechanic. Hopefully with legends arceus being seen as good they’ll begin having more confidence in spin offs again. I’d love another Pokémon game like this
Got to love that during the 25th anniversary of Pokémon a whole 5 seconds of either Colosseum or XD played. If they ever remake this game I hope they give Mirror B a Buffalaunt. Let the music Play.
Let the music play! That said, I have to admit, headcanon for Wes, personally was something akin to having worked for them. The point he turned on Team Snagem was after finding out about shadow pokemon, and likely a threat that either his espeon or umbreon... or both... were going to be put through that process.
I like to think he never really had any qualms with stealing people's Pokemon for fun but when he found out what exactly was being done to them he drew the line. And then when Rui tells him he can only steal Shadow Pokemon he's just like "fiiiiiiiine ok"
If Pokemon ever decided to change things up again like how Sun and Moon had trials. I wouldn’t mind seeing them bring back Shadow Pokemon and having the gym challenge swapped out for raiding villain team bases. Also they should’ve remastered this game for the Wii U or Switch. They could’ve not done the Delcalore Islands arc in Black and White for Ash going to Orre and getting a gang of Shadow Pokemon to purify.
This vid is definitely what I call solid B-Day Gift. I'm so glad that _even TO THIS_ *DAY* Pokémon -Terrorism- Colosseum(an early 2000s game at that) STILL gets more respect than Gen 6 to 8!
Eh give it a decade or so, Gen 6-8 will be more highly regarded because everyone got the vile out of their britches. It’s the cycle of Pokémon games, and as of right now it’s yet to be disproven. @@leoultimaupgraded9914 Damn what HASN'T she voiced in? In almost everything I have ever watched or played, she's there. Also, how cool would it be if she voiced in Vox Machina? A little call back to Dark & Dicey
Pokemon Colosseum and XD are still in my top 5 favorite Pokemon games. They just have a certain unique feel and charm to them. Plus I love how every battle is a double battle.
YESSSS ANOTHER OF THESE, I'VE BEEN WAITING! Since you're checking out the spin-offs in their own respective videos, I'd love to see a "Ranger"- and a "Mystery dungeon"-retrospective
Beautiful work. So glad to see more love for the game! It really deserves it. And yesss that Rui art is beautiful! In the sequel it would have been great to see Rui as the main protagonist. Let the music play! Keep on rocking Manga!
When I first got Colosseum as kid, I didn't like it because it felt too different. As I got older, I found a new love for it BECAUSE of its differences.
LET THE MUSIC PLAY! ARHYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I think I still prefer Gale of Darkness over Colosseum. Just over the fact that in Gale, we have a much smoother introduction into the gameplay and improved Shadow Pokémon. I honestly would like to see more people talk about it you included. Decent enough video, do keep going.
The battle theme you heard from Willie isn't play only for him, it's played when you go against casual trainers like old people rich\ ladies trainers, guys and guys with glasses( yes, that's a trainer class in this game) teachers, athletes, lady in suit (again, only in this game) and ace trainers.😶
Let the music play! Colosseum and Gale of Darkness are games I never had the chance to play, although I did have a Gale of Darkness edition Gamecube at one time(I didn't know it was until I removed the black marker scribbles on the art. Why anyone would do that is anyone's guess).
Okay, I lost it with Decpacito Sprigatito, but it was also super cute. Rui had a midriff in Japan? Huh, the more you know. Shadow Pokemon were some of the coolest additions to the lore of the universe due to jimplications of what it takes to make them.
I played XD as a kid without knowing it was a sequel to Colosseum, but Orre was my first introduction into Pokemon. If there ever was a third game to this series it could go something like this: Instead of playing as a preteen just starting out on his journey like the mainline games, you'd be playing as a fugitive from another crime syndicate (Team Plasma or Galactic just off the top of my head) looking to start a new life in a new region. It's been several years since the end of Gale of Darkness and wild Pokemon are starting to return to the region, but there are still lawless elements. It's been established in Colosseum and GoD that the only way to safely cross the desert is by vehicles equipped with special hover technology, so a feature would be caravans pulled by teams of Mudsdales, and every trip would run the risk of being assaulted by hordes of desert Pokemon (Hippowdons, Cacturnes, Pawniards, etc). Rather than automatically get new regional starters at the very beginning like most games, you'd start off with a Pokemon from your criminal days (most likely something at a midway evolution like Magneton or Loudred), but get the opportunity to choose a regional starter around the midpoint of the game. And of course we'd need the return of Miror B! Let the music play!
On the "Darkest" title I think only Team Flare's planned genocide in X&Y really tops how dark this particular game's plot is, but on the whole this game does have the darkest atmosphere given that much of X&Y simply has Team Flare as a bunch of bumbling wannabes. Also, "Let the Music Play."
I agree with this for the most part. Cipher feels like an evolution of Team Rocket, in that their experimentation bore fruit. To what end, I'm not sure it's said, though world domination? Though now, I'd like to make an argument for DPP having the darkest storyline. Yeah there's planned genocide with Flare, but Cyrus was planning on nuking EVERYTHING just to be by himself. No ecological end goal like with Aqua and Magma (and Flare to an extent). No plan for works domination. Just to get away from the people that bother him. Relatable somedays, but still dark af to wipe all existence just to be alone
Much of Colosseum and XDs gritty atmosphere and character designs comes from mangaka Sinichi Horimoto, who worked as character designer and Art Director for both games. A fun fact, the Demon Designer for the upcoming Chainsaw Man anime, Kiyotaka Oshiyama, has been illustrating Pokemon cards since 2011.
Let the music play! I find that Colosseum and XD gale of darkness both have their problems but I wish the concept of shadow pokemon could come back, and be the main driving point of a story with small nods to the ore region.
For Orre itself, I'd like to see another game from this Region. Heck, I'd like to see another established character in Pokemon, being part of an evil team (which I do have an idea for) and a dad character. I do agree with you on a lot of the subject matter, especially on your closing thoughts "It took a risk". That's kind of why I like the Let's Go games and Legends so much, they're different from the main line series and shook it up, and I want to see more in that vain. Though I'm upset you don't didn't cover a few things. The solo gym leader of the region, which is understandable. But you didn't cover Miracle B, and that's a crime against nature. I mean did you hear *his* theme? It's just Miror B's theme but pitched up, making it ten times more hilarious. Also, using Chuggaaconroy's clips I see. Nice. Now Let the Music Play, I want to see your opinions on Shadow Luigi.
16:55 Notices the nickname for the Typhlosion. Snickers… nice. Anyway, I have this game and beaten it. Love this game so much. Glad you’re covering it. The music and plot were really great.
Let the Music Play! Fun fact: Originally Wes was planned to be the Final boss of Pokemon XD instead of Greevil, and we would have learned He initially didnt have good Intentions. But he was scrapped as that would have made the first game be seen as pointless in the eyes of the players.
There ARE moves that are given to pokemon in colosseum that pokemon can't learn naturally. From what i know about competitive there are some pokemon brought all the way up from then to use those moves. Heal bell is one but i'm not sure about others
I've seen a lot of retrospectives/reviews on this game and I think this video is a wee bit too scatterbrained for its own good. There's very little of the actual gameplay described in this video outside of the broadest strokes of the double battle formula. The Pokemon roster in this game is particularly interesting because a lot of the gen 2 Pokemon represented here are Pokemon that are previously unobtainable before the post game. Pokemon like misdrevious and Slugma really do get some nice time to shine in this game in a scenario where they wouldn't get another opportunity for a long time
I actually low key like the art style of this game. The character designs are edgy and cool looking and remind me of Yugioh. I’ve never seen it but I really like the art style .
I love this game so much, I decided to speedrun it, with a large LC pizza, 2L of Mt. Dew, and a family sized bag of Doritos. Let the music play, he won’t get away!
I wanna try to get a female one. I think it would be cute as a girl. And I really like getting Female starters. I’ve had a female poplio in Moon, My sobble in my sword game was female, and my Chimchar in Shining Pearl was female as well.
My favorite parts about this game were the various battle modes with you being able to use a party from any gen 3 game and also the double battles. Also love orre colosseum
I'd love for them to return to this region in a Legends: Celebi game. Players would go back and forth through time with the help of Celebi restoring the barren region. The series only has gen 1-3 pokemon there but maybe other gens once thrived there too. Every change we make to the past would alter pokemon available in the future. Players would also have to discover the connection between naturally occurring shadow pokemon and the original grey dragon from gen 5 that lives in the past Orre region. Ancestors of cipher Admins; Dakim, Venus and Ein would have the paradox poekemon Gouging Fire, Walking Wake and Raging Bolt.
Let the music play!! Fantastic analysis Kamen. It brought me back to when I played it. I loved how you actually had to save the world instead of collecting gym badges. Please do a video on XD.
😐 I'm ashamed of myself. It took me till 23 minutes in to realize that some of the footage used in this is from Chuggaconroy's playthrough of Pokémon Colosseum. HOW DID I NOT NOTICE THAT SOONER! IM AN IDIOT!
Fun fact: there was a bug wherein if you used your first Pokemon's turn to throw a ball, then with your second Pokemon went back into your bag and swapped that ball's position with another one in the bag before using a move, the ball you selected to throw wouldn't be consumed. I abused the hell out of it for infinite Master Balls once I got it 😂
Pokemon XD does actually give the purified Pokemon access to moves they wouldn't actually be able to use. The most substantial of these buffs being Heal Bell and Refresh access to a variety of Pokemon as well as giving Shadow Lugia Psycho Boost, the signature move of Deoxys
Let the music play! Grew up with pokemon colosseum, despite it's issues, it is one of my favorite games of all time. XD is amazing as well, looking forward to the pixel art remake of the game whenever that releases!
The only thing about this game is they definitely missed and opportunity to have one of the greatest gyms ever. The Agate gym full of retired trainers would be such a fun place.
I haven't touched any new Pokemon game since USUM. Honestly at this point I just wait for the ideal Pokemon game I wanted when I was first introduced to the franchise which we might never get but we have the ingredience for it. An action RPG that is not turn based. - similar to a fighting game where you have 1 to 6 Pokemon against oppossing 1 to 6 Pokemon with swapping mechanic - more than 4 moves but Pokemon have a smaller movepool based on their actions - attacks having effects on the environment like in the anime like being able to turn the ground to mud with a strong water move - attacks can be combined for additional effects like when your opponent got wet from a water move, you can hit it for massive damage with an electric move - moves can be somewhat customized like Wing Attack to Steel Wing or Slash to Shadow Claw or Dragon Claw - weaker moves can be upgraded to stronger moves like Ember to Flamethrower - some moves can change when charged like Flamethrower turning to OVERHEAT - catching mechanics similar to Legends Arceus - Able to use something use Smog to great a Smokescreen and escape from Battle safely The possiblilities are endless and way too much work for the Pokemon company to invest in. And it seems besides me nobody cares about a game like this anymore. Imagine Pokken came out back when Pokemon was introduced. It would have been somewhat an ideal Pokemon game.
In a lot of ways, I love XD more than the original. Longer story and progression (feels like a full game of lvl 5 to 50+ like mainline games), improved Shadow Purification, more awesome music (with all the original music iirc), Flaws with XD? The constant notifications of pokemon being ready to be purified back at the lab (really made the final area that much more tedious), and the Wild Area encounters always getting overridden by the freaking Munchlax! Now, as much as I love all the battle themes from the original, XD has the only one I put on a YT playlist of video game music. At least, for awhile! Miror B 2.0, Let the Music PLAY!
I had a lot of fun with Pokemon Colosseum. I named the MC Yugi and the female companion Sakura because Yu-Gi-Oh and Cardcaptors were my favourite shows at the time.
First off, points for using Ken ashcorp's rival. Been a good while since I've heard anything from them. Pokémon Colosseum will always hold a special place in my heart and memory for Wes alone. This ain't no ten year old running about, that's for sure. Also, if you think Mirror B.s theme in this game is great, wait till you get to XD. LET THE MUSIC PLAY!!
Now I vaguely remember this game. I am fairly certain that it was available for the GameCube because my friend played that game religiously whenever I was hanging out with him at his house

We Need A Remaster of Pokémon Colosseum and Gale of Darkness
I want a post game set in orre. Like the delta episode in the gen 3 remakes.
If the game was remastered instead of remade on switch could it be made compatible with a GBA since the switch has a Gamecube adaptor?
Could they make it better than the D&P remakes?

@@Mangakamen can I chase your skull character around in a future video??? Could it be all chibi like and I'm an aggressive Incineroar? :P
Seeing that small of bit of chuggaaconroy footage really took me back and put a smile on my face. Let the music play!
Most of the modern animations came from Stadium and Colusseum, these kids should know their roots, this game was groundbreaking when it came out.
oh take me back to the good ol days
LET THE MUSIC PLAY!
gotta admit, it is hard for me to not use the infinite ball exploit in this game.
LET THE MUSIC PLAY BABY
I still want my weed fur baby
I wanna try to get a female one. I think it would be cute as a girl. And I really like getting Female starters. I’ve had a female poplio in Moon, My sobble in my sword game was female, and my Chimchar in Shining Pearl was female as well.
Basically if it looks girly or cute, I try to get it as a female ?
What are your female starters, if you have them? I’d love to know ❤️
2:47 He said in 2015 when the Wii and Wii U had WiFi like the NDS and 3DS.
I LOVE YOUR POKEMON VIDEOS!!! LET THE MUSIC PLAY!!!
I always go back to these games now and then
Banger after banger after banger from you my man. Great vids looking forward to the next one
I just wish the views would be there *sighs*
My favorite parts about this game were the various battle modes with you being able to use a party from any gen 3 game and also the double battles. Also love orre colosseum
Let the music start !
LET THAT MUSIC PLAY BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Finally pokemon colosseum is ACKNOWLEDGED. Thank you kamen
*"Let the music play!"*
I am more so for XD Gale of Darkness though Colosseum is awsome!
Let the music play over and over again and again baby!
One thing older games did really well was not explicitly tell you absolutely everything.
Love the Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends reference
Mirror B is the best pokemon character; change my mind.
Let the music play!!
Fantastic analysis Kamen. It brought me back to when I played it. I loved how you actually had to save the world instead of collecting gym badges. Please do a video on XD.
One of my favorite pokemon title, banger OST, great graphics and animations for the time.
Let the music play btw.
😐 I'm ashamed of myself. It took me till 23 minutes in to realize that some of the footage used in this is from Chuggaconroy's playthrough of Pokémon Colosseum. HOW DID I NOT NOTICE THAT SOONER! IM AN IDIOT!
ehehhe
Honestly, i think that this game had the best animations of pokemon ever, only rival is battle revolution.
I forgot how good the music in Colosseum was. Mirror B’s theme was by far the most unforgettable though.
Let the music play!
20:59 I like how the sequel, XD Gale Of Darkness, straight-up did that too. 😂
20:11 ♫Thunder, rain and lightning...♫
I haven't touched any new Pokemon game since USUM. Honestly at this point I just wait for the ideal Pokemon game I wanted when I was first introduced to the franchise which we might never get but we have the ingredience for it. An action RPG that is not turn based.
- similar to a fighting game where you have 1 to 6 Pokemon against oppossing 1 to 6 Pokemon with swapping mechanic
- more than 4 moves but Pokemon have a smaller movepool based on their actions
- attacks having effects on the environment like in the anime like being able to turn the ground to mud with a strong water move
- attacks can be combined for additional effects like when your opponent got wet from a water move, you can hit it for massive damage with an electric move
- moves can be somewhat customized like Wing Attack to Steel Wing or Slash to Shadow Claw or Dragon Claw
- weaker moves can be upgraded to stronger moves like Ember to Flamethrower
- some moves can change when charged like Flamethrower turning to OVERHEAT
- catching mechanics similar to Legends Arceus
- Able to use something use Smog to great a Smokescreen and escape from Battle safely
The possiblilities are endless and way too much work for the Pokemon company to invest in. And it seems besides me nobody cares about a game like this anymore. Imagine Pokken came out back when Pokemon was introduced. It would have been somewhat an ideal Pokemon game.
I believe Game Freak has issues with the two titles, but with shadow stuff in Go and Pokken it is not impossible or entirely forgotten
The KH references are on point, Nascour straight up looks like Ansem-Riku
Let the music play!
Orre Gang rise up! Let the Music Play!
I’m so happy the old school Pokémon console games are starting to get some love. Do XD! Let the music play!
Let the music play
In a lot of ways, I love XD more than the original. Longer story and progression (feels like a full game of lvl 5 to 50+ like mainline games), improved Shadow Purification, more awesome music (with all the original music iirc),
Flaws with XD? The constant notifications of pokemon being ready to be purified back at the lab (really made the final area that much more tedious), and the Wild Area encounters always getting overridden by the freaking Munchlax!
Now, as much as I love all the battle themes from the original, XD has the only one I put on a YT playlist of video game music. At least, for awhile! Miror B 2.0, Let the Music PLAY!
I had a lot of fun with Pokemon Colosseum. I named the MC Yugi and the female companion Sakura because Yu-Gi-Oh and Cardcaptors were my favourite shows at the time.
interesting
First off, points for using Ken ashcorp's rival. Been a good while since I've heard anything from them.
Pokémon Colosseum will always hold a special place in my heart and memory for Wes alone. This ain't no ten year old running about, that's for sure.
Also, if you think Mirror B.s theme in this game is great, wait till you get to XD.
LET THE MUSIC PLAY!!
Now I vaguely remember this game. I am fairly certain that it was available for the GameCube because my friend played that game religiously whenever I was hanging out with him at his house
