I like this model because of its small size, and I like the lever wind. That small spring is way too fragile! Even so, I've taken some good photos with this camera. It's very solid and has more weight than you would expect. My one gripe with most of the folding Retinas is that there is so little space for your right hand, because the lens door opens horizontally rather than vertically. I'll talk about this in my review of the large-bodied Retinas. Regardless, they're still great cameras.
Great video, these early retina's are so underrated. All you need with the 1a is an external rangefinder and you're shooting Leica iii style. Personally I prefer the Retina II, knob film wind, you have to cock the shutter manually and the lens is uncoated so you need to use a lens hood but the results are great.

Only the Retina II with the Superlative Ektar 2-47 is a great camera!
