Thank you for doing a Raleigh review, I wish you had the time to explore the area like you've done with other cities and it's environs. I'm not taking anything away from you, I'm just highlighting the positive your videos are in educating the masses of cities they would have never known about. I want to thank you for all you do. I've been following you and Nicole as you tour the 50 states and I must say I'm jealous. I wish I could do the same. It's refreshing.
Raleigh was an early video, and I hadn't really developed a style yet. Additionally, there was a Thanksgiving parade that day, so it was impossible to get into downtown. We will most likely return there and do another video in time.
Glad y'all enjoyed Raleigh. Wish you all spent more time. Excellent local restaurants. Any of Ashley Christiansen's restaurants are worth a visit. It should also be mentioned Raleigh is called the City of Oaks (you noticed all the trees) and it's the 3rd best place to live in the US.Thanks for doing what you do! It's a little escape for me as I sit at my desk all day working from home punching numbers. Keep it up!
The Andy Griffith Show (1960) took place in North Carolina, even if the county and city was fictional. One of the many reasons we know this, when Don Knotts left the show, his absence was explained by having Barney move to the capital of Raleigh to join their Police Department. 2
Interesting. We looked into visiting Andy Griffith’s gravesite, which is in North Carolina, not far from Raleigh. Unfortunately, the public cannot visit it. Which sucked. I would have liked to go there. ☹️
The city is fictional but Andy Griffith was born in Mt. Airy, NC and that is believed to be the basis of fictional Mayberry ... Mt Airy/Mayberry. Nearby is Pilot Mountain (an actual mountain), similar to the Mount Pilot, another fictional town referenced frequently in the show. Both are a bit west northwest of Winston Salem, close to the foot of the Appalachians and the Virginia border. There is an outdoor play called the Lost Colony in Manteo, NC which borders the Outer Banks. This was sometime during the 80s but I was fortunate enough to be there when Andy Griffith did a walk-on appearance, that was a surprise!
I was through Raleigh in 1963 on my way to Columbia SC and Fayetteville, NC. Saw the White House and everything about 4 months before JFK was killed. We started in western NY.
What a beautiful museum! I wonder if you got the COVID rate or if 'free' is the going rate? It's hard to believe that you had good Wi-Fi and no microwave! Crazy!
I stopped in Raleigh some time ago and remember it being more of a town than a city. The hotel was not conducive to tourist. No amenities and no good food anywhere nearby. I would have thought that would have changed by now. A museum in Raleigh? The ever-constant reminders about slavery, yuk!
@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip From what you showed it looks totally amazing dinosaurs skeletons totally cool. We in Alberta Canada still have many discoveries of dinosaur skeletons. Free is always the best. Just want to encourage you both you’re doing a awesome job with your channel. I love the hotel reviews to. Gosh those eggs & sausage looked plastic to me lol. Safe travels. Looking forward to your next video. They finally took away the covid testing for us Canadians who are going on short trips to the USA, so that’s good news for us. Come spring traveling back to your wonderful country. Where I am this time of the year can get just crazy for traveling by vehicle, you never know when it’s going to start snowing. I live about 1 hour 15 drive from Buffalo NY. the Great Lakes Ontario Erie are known for dropping lots of snow. Ya never know might jump on a plane to Cali to visit family when it gets really crappy cold here. Looking forward to your next video.
It is cold but really beautiful up there. I could see why California would be a nice visit from time to time, but there’s a lot to be said for Canada, all good, of course. Years and years ago, while in Montana, I crossed into Canada at Wild Horse. Really desolate, but beautiful.

The Ramada, near Disney World, Orlando, was exactly the same no microwave but it was right next to a Walmart.
👍👍👍

I appreciate that the state honors who built it and doesn't just ignore that ugly part of history.

I guess you paid for the museum in the hotel tax
Super quality museum, the state building was real well built, only sad thing it was build by slavery.
Key, you wanna know what was the best part of this museum? It was free! It was a great museum as well. I showed very little on video.

That actually never happened. Too many feelings were hurt by history so it has been sanitized.
