I loved this a lot. The knuckles segment was REALLY smart and I'm very glad they did the "fake soft-lock". I also really enjoy how the controls and collisions were odd. It really does give a sense like it was abandoned.
I really liked that this game embraced the weird mechanics and collisions. It adds to the uncanny nature of a supposed messed up rom. I'm pretty sure the broken controls are on purpose at this point because it just worked so well... If you think about it, if you have a haunted game, the mechanics will probably be a dut broken lol

Honestly, the sprite work for Unl is peak perfection, along with the level design, really adds that Hacked Rom style to it. Sure the gameplay was a bit wonky, but it came back with solid jump scares and gore. I would like to see this developer do a crossover with the creators of EYX, would be interesting to see this guy’s level design with the analog horror that EYX brings.

If you pay attention in the menu before tails death there all happy, then after tails death there sprites they seem worried and after knuckles death, you can see eggman being extremely scared like he cradling himself
What It meant by spread assimilate repeat was to say he had been take over by a fungus that was using his body to do just that, when knuckles died it shows him spreading.
Like i commented before, I feel my only genuine complaint was the physics. Specifically tails' physics in green hill act 3, some of those jumps SHOULDN'T BE POSSIBLE. The only explanation I could give how that is even possible, is magnetic feet
Know what might be cool? An EXE game where you have to play it twice for the spooky stuff to actually happen. That way you get lulled into a false sense of security and possibly confused by the replay and lack of horror, leading to more powerful reactions when it DOES happen
