I started my pencil journey 40 years ago. I have been using Prismacolor all the while. When I open my case of pencils and the smells hit my nose it's like I go back to the wonderful years of youth.
Hi, I can only imagine that as we did not have Prisma pencils growing up but it must be wonderful. (I just saw the film IF, they had similar memories with nostalgic scents. I was also willing the main character to get their old art supplies out again). Thanks for visiting, happy coloring :)
Excellent tutorial! I loved your tips for leaving white spaces. Much easier than trying to add white highlights with a posca. I can't wait to try my hand a using your techniques. You've brought so much depth and dimension to these simple pages! LOVE!!!
Thank you so much, glad the highlight idea helped. I know what you mean, either tricky to erase tiny areas or go over with white pen. Thank you for watching, happy coloring 🥰
The nice thing about this simple books is while you can color very simply, you can also go all out....they have a lot of room to do really detailed transitions, shading and highlighting. I often struggle with the more detailed books to fit it in, especially with my thicker core pencils. It's one of the reasons I like my Chromaflow so much, they are much thinner but still soft.
Hi Bee 🐝 thank you.. I’ve got those markers but to scared to use them by seeing what u do with pencil blending over the markers it’s amazing.. I really didn’t think those markers would yellow.. with the price of them thank you for sharing ❤❤❤😊😊😊😊xxxxx
Hi Kylie, you can do it, just little by little lightly touch the paper, you'll soon get the hang of it. Thanks for watching hun and I appreciate your kind comments 🥰
This is the first I've heard of a problem with Ohuhu so it's good to know to avoid that black. FYI the best fix I've seen for bleeding pages is to get a clear page protector, cut off the part with the holes for the binder and the bottom, and trim to fit the page. You are left with the front and back held by one "hinge" and can slip it over the page to seal both the front and the back, but still see through it. I just went and grabbed a Hampson book I knew I used my markers in.. a lot of red and orange mushrooms, along with grey, green, yellow, blue.. and I have no bleeding at all.. it's well over a year old. I guess it's mostly the black. I don't own the black Ohuhu so I haven't used it. I have the two pastel sets and the midtone set and haven't had a problem yet so hopefully they are safe. Hope that helps.
Neat idea. Glad you have not got any yellowing in your books. Phew. My Autumn matchstick mouse is terrible from the black pen, and Colourtronic suffered when my orange and grey/black pens were brand new.
Thank you so much for the video! Unfortunately, I don't have alcohol-based markers like the ones from Ohuhu or Prismacolor pencils (in Brazil, these items are quite expensive, even coloring books because they are imported). The colored pencils I usually use are from Faber-Castell's school line (Supersoft and Eco). I really like your channel and your coloring techniques. I would love to see more videos using colored pencil techniques. I apologize if my English is hard to read.
Hello, you are more than fine 🙂 I understand about different brands of supplies being expensive. I do not have the FC school line but they would work in much the same way as a layering pencil ? So lots of light layers, much like I showed with the Prismacolor pencil in this video. The paper is soft and delicate so I did not blend hard. It would also depend on how you want the image to look. More layers for a more saturated finish. Thank you for watching. Happy coloring 🥰✏ You do not need the markers, it just speeds up the coloring.
I think the yellowing is due to acidity. If there are acid free alcohol markers to be found, they would not damage surfaces. I enjoyed watching you color. It's quite relaxing.
Hi, thank you for visiting and your comments. I seem to remember someone mentioning acidity of the paper in an Amazon review, so this would also make sense if the ink was also acidic, thanks.
Hello yes I am well aware of yellowing happening with other alcohol marker brands but some people don't seem to believe it happens with regular Ohuhus, It only showed up in the Ohuhu thin version in their experiment, so I am showing the rgular Ohuhus issue here too. I don't have the Prisma markers so cannot comment. I can only show what I experience, it's not a dig at Ohuhu as I am still using the pens.Thank you for watching.
@@Beecosy I didnt think you were taking a stab at ohuhu. Alcohol markers regardless of the brand although I don’t know about copic, will yellow /fade over time whether it’s exposed to light or not. It’s a shame. If they ever produce ones that are lightfast I’ll be first in line because they are a fun and relatively easy medium to work with. I’ve got just about every type of marker from ohuhu that they have. The only copic markers I hsve are the warm and cool greys but I’ve not used them often. There are to high priced if you ask me and I’m not sure why. But then again Ive never worked with them. But regardless the swatches I have are now discoloured and as you say certain ones are discolouring more than others. So I meant no offence and took your video as being informative. No need to be so defensive about it.
