I've never seen this character before this review. It looks very cool. I was curious how they were going to handle the articulation of the baggy pants. That always has the potential to look horrible when it comes to action figures, but I think Todd managed to do it pretty good.
I was pretty worried about this figure when I first saw the pictures. Figured there was no way it had decent articulation. Glad to see I was mostly wrong. Thanks Mr. Anthony for another entertaining and informative review!!
Ghost maker is in the current batman storyline as an allied, not really in future state since he debuted before that temporary arc of DC. He's basically batman but doesn't mind to kill and has a endless bank account
Ya, I read a decent amount of Future State and don't remember seeing Ghost Maker in it at all. He did appear in the last big arc of the main Batman book though a good amount and played a decent role. His character isn't that interesting as he's basically a long, lost rival of Bruce's during his younger 'training all over the world' years, but the character design is definitely cool looking. I'd pick this up if I saw it in the wild as it this seems to be done quite well, but wouldn't go out of my way to purchase it.
@@tmoore2010 he's still an anti-hero to me, he just doesn't have empathy, when batman made a deal with ghostmaker to stay in Gotham to fight crime BUT without killing, he accepted the offer (I'm not sure why ghostmaker went through with it despite how his character is displayed) UPDATE: it is said in the comic that he accepted the deal because he thought it would be a challenge for him
When it comes to figures, half the time I buy them solely on the rule of cool. Buy what looks good and come up with your own backstory. It’s why I bought No Guns Life Juzo Inui, never saw the anime but he’s a big guy in trench coat and loafers with a gun for a head.
Very familiar. Read the whole run. It was essentially a look into the not too distant future. Ghost Maker trained with Bruce under the League of Shadow. He’s kinda extended Batfam
Comparing this to hasbro releases makes me laugh. All hasbro does is repaint a shitty body mold with a new head, even doubt calling it repaint since theres literally no paint hahah
Had heard of Future State. Haven't actually read anything connected with it. And no. I'm really only interested in the versions of the character I have some attachment to, at least as far as McFarlane Multiverse goes. Even then, I pick and choose (looking at you, side-eye Aquaman, and I know you're not looking back at me... Cause you can't). Though I was pretty tempted by this one. He does look cool.
Q of the Day: I have tried to read some contemporary DC lately, including Future State, because of these figures. The DCU just seems to jump from one event right into another with a lot of alternate timelines/realities involved. It’s a convoluted mess. Part 2: I don’t have be familiar with the source material. If a figure captures my attention, I’ll order it, and while I’m waiting for it to arrive, I’ll read some of the comics, watch some of the anime, etc. I’ve read/watched a lot of cool stuff I might not have if it hadn’t been for the figure.
Dc is pretty easy to read actually especially batman. New 52 on is pretty consistent. Rebirth, metal and death metal are the only crisis type things. But rebirth picks up right after new 52. The future state stuff is like a sequel spin off of death metal so its not really even in continuity. This guy comes right before all that.
I think 90% of the McFarlane DC line are from comics I haven't read. While most are tangentially related to characters I know, I have more interest in characters I don't know since they're a break from the 100000 Batmans, Supermans and Wonder Womans. I'll probably pick this one up. It has a modern Stormshadow vibe and it looks small enough to fit in with the GI Joe Classified line for fight scenes. I like the look of the Dark Detective from Future State (and I bought almost all the issues, just never got around to reading all of them due to work), so I'll probably get that one to pair with this one.
Bought the figure the same reason you did! I love learning about new characters surrounding Batman and watching YT vids on their lore. Ghost Maker grabbed my attention and I like his backstory and interactions with Batman.
Lame name but really cool looking design. As for the question of the day, I go with something I recognize or just think looks cool as hell, and if McFarlane can make a figure of someone I have never heard of and still catch my interest enough to want it for my shelf then he's definitely doing something right. 👌
I used to collect based on what i was familiar with, but I took it too far with the completionist attitude and got everything from a line I knew about, even if I wasn't a fan of the character or the figure. Nowadays I buy figures that I think look the best. If they're from a line I know, then that definitely influences whether I'll buy it or not. But my base standard is "is this a cool and unique figure", which i guess is why I've been a fan of hasbro's fortnite line because of all the unique figures they've been releasing.
I dont read modern DC/Marvel so I have no idea what future state is, but I do have this figure pre-ordered simply because it looked cool and I think the name Ghost Maker is cool too lol. Don’t normally buy figures of something I dont know simply because of the design but this got me.
I've been collecting more and more McFarlane stuff as of late. At first I was turned off by the scale but once I got over that I found them generally more satisfying than Marvel Legends.
I want to read the future state story line, it seems interesting to me. Most of the time with this line, the toys come out and it gets me into the comics. This character apparently is cool in the comics though. If the figure looks cool I’ll usually get it lol
I’ll go with the second question, I try to get stuff related to what I’m familiar with, but a lot of times I get stuff that I think looks cool. If it’s related to something than that’s a bonus. Honestly that’s one of the ways I used to collect. I still kinda do but with price hikes and that kind of stuff I don’t do that as much
I usually buy figures that look cool. I don't know a thing about Future State. I would buy this figure. I'd pose him with my other ninja figures and give him some guns from my McFarlane weapons pack, I recently received in the mail.
ghost maker is a recent member of the bat family, he is martial arts expect that batman trained wiht in his days with the league of assassins and the says he trained to be batman before coming back to gotham, he isnt really from future state and more in the current batman comics i still read the comics so im okay with the newer characters being released but can see why it might not be for the casual dc fans
Heard of Future State, but have not read it. I'll buy a figure it looks good and interests me and if it has good articulation. I got into Mythic Legions because how one of their goblins looked. I have no idea of the line's mythology, I buy the line because they have some cool looking designs/figures.
Don't know anything about this character but his design is definitely striking. I wish McFarlane would have started everything in 1/12 (6 inch) scale. As much as I prefer DC over Marvel, I already invested in too many other lines in 1/12 to hop onto McFarlane.
I know of future state but dont know much of the greater story of it. I do have the Batman books which introduced Ghost Maker. Supposedly he trained alongside Bruce Wayne when Bruce was traveling the world to train.
I have no idea who is this guy but that's a super cool design. Faceless-type of characters have a mysterious vibe and I love that. QotD: 1.- I have no idea what is the whole Future State stuff lol 2.- I'm the type to collect figures of cool character designs and that's one of the reasons why I'm broke, need to stop doing that. I really love the look on this figure but I'm restraining myself from buying it.
Hey thanks for the great review! I snagged this figure. I like what you were saying about painting it up a little. Can you recommend a method to a noob like me? I do have an air brush but I've never used it yet lol.
Name is very 90s. The design is mostly cool but I don't like the super baggy parachute pants. I sometimes buy figures purely because I like the design but usually that isn't enough to get me to buy it.
Zup Anthony, this is a version of batman that fights crime because he is good at it not for vengeance, this is a must have for me love this character, ooohh! the figure stand is the best bro!! Haha Spiderman reference haha. This figure is $20 😎, no more hasbro for me, for now. Thanks for the video bro 😎 (I give it a 10/10 😅)

People aren't reading current run of batman then if they don't know who the guy is. He isn't future state either, he is just new. He is from Bruce Waynes past when he was training.
1st question: Never heard of Future State before McFarlane came out with the figures. I assume it's a somewhat recent comic run since I don't honestly follow modern comics these days. 2nd question: It all depends, I typically stay in my lane and buy what I know unless I feel I can use the character in a more generic purpose
This looks pretty cool but i dont buy mcfarlane figures they are too crusty and dont scale good with most other stuff. For the question i mostly buy things im familiar with and i think has a cool design but if something that im not familiar with is really cool ill buy it
Design is most important. There is too much content and stories to know everything. Mcfarlane has cool sculpts but at the cost of articulations,as always. Even though most say 22 articulation points, some are worthless because of cape, hair, or costume designs. It’s a tough call if you are satisfied with just a statue.
I think it's a pretty cool name, but I have a hard time taking him seriously with the poofy pants. I buy far too many figures that I'm not familiar with if they look cool. I have no idea who this dude is, but I tried to purchase him (Target cancelled my preorder for some reason and wouldn't let me use the promotion to reorder). Unrelated, but if you see this - Have you stopped purchasing Marvel Select stuff? I was looking for your review of the, "Marvel Select: Rampaging Hulk", and didn't see one. I was interested to see what your opinion was on the sculpt of that body.
I honestly hate buying things I’m not familiar with. I feel like I’m bandwagoning. I even just sold my atrocitus baf cause I just don’t know who the hell he is. But this looks cool like some kind of ninja. I might pick this up and swap his head out
it'd be kinda funny if they had a toy named, "Baby Maker". At least Ghost Maker looks cool. I do get figures that have an interesting design like some fortnite figures.
I thought the name was lame when i first heard it until i read some of his comics and then felt like it fits him a little bit because he doesnt take himself too seriously
Nice sculpt and articulation, good times from head to toe... but they cheap out on the scabbards. Really guys? What did that save you in plastic, $0.00001 per figure?
I’m sorry to tell you I pretty sure he had nothing to do with Future state I believe he was a character that trained with Bruce Wayne and was always getting his ass handed to him buy Bruce then when he stepped up his game he became more violent and cutthroat and figured out Batman’s fighting style matched up to Bruce he thought Batman was to soft on crime, Batman convinces him to come over to his way of thinking I believe that it’s what was happening in Batman I only glanced through the story he is a cool looking character.
If it’s really, REALLY cool looking and is cheap enough and a good figure then I’ll get it for the cool design. If the figure ain’t good or cheap then the cool design ain’t worth it.
The character appeared before Future State (haven't read that) the design is interesting but the story requires an unnecessary retcon. A friend/rival to Bruce Wayne while he was training around the world who has no problem with killing criminals if necessary and Batman just let him operate around the world without interference? Doesn't feel very coherent. Also he uses swords but leaves no trace for the authorities? Also makes Bruce Wayne's journey less special. I can pass on this one. I don't necessarily need an attachment to the character. If a figure looks cool and tells me a story just by the design alone without coming from any media at a reasonable price I am game.
Anthony are you going to buy the no way home three pack. It's a deal breaker for me because it's a pulse con exclusive and the ab crunch looks a little weird in the photos. Hope they make a single release soon.
It is kinda original the name is really badass and to answer your question no future state is highly mix worst of all is 🔥🛡 the worst of all is “oracle” 😒🤦🏾 that’s a whole can of worms that needs a hour long discussion also being that I start liking it at first with the new Wonder Woman yara flor but just ditched her had her series canceled and have her barley in it. Yeah the new heroes especially the new speeders that has prosthetic legs. Yeah really forgettable all and all their some decent stuffs to like for future state but sadly not a fan
I collect mostly Batman related figures, and mostly from McFarlane. Ghost Maker wasn't high on my list so far, but after this review I am inclined to get him. Also, answering the question of the day, I collect designs of characters I know from sources I haven't read yet all the time. As well as characters affiliated to them (again, especially from the Bat corner of the DC universe). Still, I may get figures just for the designs. Still haven't watched Stranger Things, but if someone makes a great Vecna figure, I'd probably get it for the character design alone.
I never heard of that charactere either. Sometimes I buy figures that I don't necessarily care for the character but they can work as "Army Builders" so I get a few specially after they go on sale. Cuz all the Mcfarlane figures go on sale at some point lol
Hasbro is a buncha crooks man. mcfarlane smokes hasbro when it comes to making better looking figures. Only thing legends has over mcfarlane is charaters and articulation. And todd is slowly impoving articulation. I just cant get down with legends like I use to. Smh
I've never seen this character before this review. It looks very cool.
I was curious how they were going to handle the articulation of the baggy pants.
That always has the potential to look horrible when it comes to action figures, but I think Todd managed to do it pretty good.

He's still a villain in my collection.
Why same like red hood.

Great name, great figure. Questionable comic usage imo. A little too futuristic for batman, and also perhaps deserving of his own story.

9 is fine. That is a great looking figure and the couple of poses that you put it in look amazing 🤩
Future state is a pretty cool storyline. I do collect what looks good regardless. I generally do a lil research. This guy nearly killed Bruce.
I just love how you take every chance you get to complain on the articulation on the SpiderMan figures hahaha I didn't even see it coming xD

The arch on the back takes me out, it’s supremely arched 😂😂 looks cool posed on the ps4 tho but the lower back shape is kinda hilarious
a cloth cape would make it better unfortunately Mcfarlane is still stuck in the 90s.... - great review
Most people don't like cloth on action figure

He is not part of Future state. He was introduced in after the Joker War

Nice posable cyberpunk ninja. 9/10? Hmm…. Yeah no bias at all.
What? This is cyberpunk? Why would I be biased in favor of something that is competition for my own project?
Hey thanks for the great review!

Zup Anthony, this is a version of batman that fights crime because he is good at it not for vengeance, this is a must have for me love this character, ooohh! the figure stand is the best bro!! Haha Spiderman reference haha.

Ghost Maker is an interesting character....but I hate that name too! He is Batman's equal and a friend who's keeping him grounded.
I got him 2 months ago dope figure
the giant diaper is the focal point for me and it makes his chest armor look small. it’s the opposite in the comic art. even though the figure has a small waist he still looks pudgy with the diaper and hip armor. again, opposite in the comics.

Smh
Imagine soft goods wit diss figure, Eeeee
McFarlane plastic looks so weird
Hasbro will never do like Mcfarlane not because they can't, because they are cheap. All they think of is money 💷 $$$.. Maximum profit minimum output.
DC isn’t exactly known for good names these past 3 generations…
Cool looking design, but the name sucks
I know this character but if i didn’t i would think it’s a fortnite character
Sometimes, I buy actiom figures just because they are hot and have abs. :)
