Love the podcast guys, just wanted to chip in with some JWS info. AFAIK The JWS orbits around the L2 point, it has to orbit the point so that it always has view of the sun and doesn't get eclipsed by the earth/moon for the solar panels to work, the huge sheets are then needed to keep the equipment and instrumentation on the far side at a cool operating temp, there are other LeGrange points that have this stable orbit effect but L1 is between the earth and sun, L3 is the far side of the sun, L4 and L5 are in front and behind the earths orbit respectively, the L2 point was chosen as it means both the main sources of interference; Earth and Sun (also moon but to a lesser extent), would be behind it and away from the viewing angle of the telescope (viewing past the earth has atmosphere interference as well as some light and obviously the sun is a huge source of light pollution which is the main issues with using L1, and a to a degree L4 & L5 aswell) and L3 is effectively unusable as the sun would also block transmissions between JWS and earth, or at least, unusable without being fully automated or having relay satellites set up to bounce the signals off, Don't quote me on any of that, I'm literally just some Pleb who likes space shit but that whats I've picked up so far, regardless, very excited to see what it can find, Hope you boys are well and look forward to seeing you, Mr Sam and the rest of the Dudnutz in Manchester :D
Trott has definitely not watched Joe Rogan recently - the guy talked to an ecologist about bats for 2 hours straight and was enthralled the entire time 😂
Re freedom of choice: we all google things, so we're already letting google pick for us as we'll only select from the first half a dozen items! So our information and selections are already harmonising...
I'd just like to say that the 'quantum apocalypse' is definitely overhyped. Yes, quantum computers would eventually be able to decrypt current encryption keys very quickly BUT they also allow us to encrypt information using the concept of 'entanglement' making data breaches physically impossible even with quantum computers.
Never miss my Hat Chat dose. Take about who they would have control them, I would of be worried if the got Craig to control anyone of them, because i have a feeling he would be rubbing his hands in glee to getting his revenge on them.
Part of teaching a kid is teaching a kid how to learn. if you plug in the knowledge they learn (which sounds more like memorizing an encyclopedia)... you'd best include that knowledge and know-how as well. The being fluent in every language bit is pretty cool, tho, gotta admit.
A fitting fingle for my favourite Harry Potter podcast!
Great fingle! Maybe make a James Bond sounding fingle :)
