omg i had extremely similar nails to yours and i followed simplynailogicals advice and started putting jojoba and vitamin e oil on them all the time (legit 3 times a day) and now they're growing SO well, my cuticles are gorgeous and they're stronger! it even made me stop picking at them too

I do my own polygel. And those are actually full cover tips, not dual forms, so you yould get away with leaving them on. And if you get some builder gel you can apply them by them self and add polish on top. Or build polygel over it

I once or so did mine at home with Polygel and it took forever but looked amazing. Lasted about half an hour lol
I used to go to a nail saloon for like 3 years.
It was a really cheap salon (they charged like 13€ for a whole manicure including gel nails and design and all that shits and giggles) and I always had a great experience. The nails looked awesome, they lasted at least 4 weeks before the gap was wayyy to big and the quality was actually really good for 13€.
But one day, about 2 years ago, I went there as usual, got my nails done, yadda yadda yadda, 3 days later I got a really disgusting infection on all my nail beds, so after it all was healed I was too afraid to go there again (I had a whole lot of pain in that time, took about 2 months).
Now I'm working at a hospital and I am not allowed to wear fake nails anymore.

Pick up the polygel n scrape it off into the dual form n use the slip solution to pat it down thin but not to thin n let it sit for a few minutes so the bubbles pop especially if ur using clear polygel, also it helps to have ur hand with ur nails facing down kind of like ur admiring your nails so the base coat or top coat don't flood your cuticles or side walls cuz that causes lifting
I would love to see you try this again, and the color you chose to use is my favorite
I use clear press on nails and adhere them with gel base and then gel polish, top coat and done! They last 2-3 weeks!

*Her nails looked just like mine! I bit my nails for the longest time and the only thing that got me to quit was getting acrylics. I got them for about six months. She would form them with powder and they always looked perfect. It was super relaxing and never hurt. Once my real nails grew out a little, I stopped getting them and I never bit them again. It's been about 10 years. My nails are still not hard so I think they will always be that way!*
In all fairness, from a nail techs point of view - I think you did really good!
Especially since I have personally never used duel forms or polygel, and it seems like it has quite the learning curve!
I just stick to regular builder gel and tips.
My only "tip" is really just some advice to save yourself from more pain. 😝
When you put your hand into the lamp, if/when it starts to burn, take your hand out for a few seconds and then put it back in. That way it doesn't heat up any further and cause even more pain!
What you're experiencing is called "heat spikes" it happens when you have thin nails or if they've been overly filed.
Cheaper gels tend to burn more, but my nails are thin like yours and I experience heat spikes even with expensive gels. So it's something we just gotta deal with! 😜

You can put the nail gel on the nail form and directly put it on your nail. No need to spread the gel on the nail form. It’s so much easier.

During quarantine I'd use the good press=on's and Poly gel they lasted almost a month and I literally HAD to soak my nails in acetone when I was ready to change them (took me almost 3 hours to do but sooo worth it) if I had the patience and time to do this again it's a huge money saver only thing I regularly had to get was press-on's which is 3-4 dollars every month or so pretty reasonable ( I always got the really good press-on's with designs on them to save time)
Here's a little tip instead of using the spatula at the end of the to brush to put polygel into the form you can just pour the polygel into the form.

I wonder if you could do the poly gel and then take a similar color or even a new color of gel polish over top to smooth things out and make the color more solid. Anywho they look pretty good!

I had acrylics before quarantine started, but had to take them off when I couldn’t get them filled. When I was taking them off it seemed like they used MMA instead of acrylic so I started doing my own nails 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve been using the Apres system since March and I really like it. No more red/swollen fingers after getting them done. I tried polygel and was not a fan.
Your cuticles begin to reattach themselves to the nail plate after 20 minutes so if you pushed them back the day before do it again real quick before you start your nails- from a self taught baby tech who loves you and was so happy to see this video come up😁🤗❤

You should use a builders gel instead of acrylic it’s so much better for your nail enamel you’ll benefit from it so much more x

I relate so much. I've been biting my nails since I was 5 or 6. They were my biggest insecurity, so I started getting acrylics. When I would walk into the shop, they would argue on who had to take me. I eventually switched to glue ons now that they have cuter ones.
If you’re going to use an electric nail drill. You do not need to go over 1-2 in the settings. That’s why you feel that intense burning. And if you already do it, than run it under cold water. Nail techs who do this is rushing because you’re not their only client. Trade secrets from my mama.

So when I first started getting acrylics. I went to a place in Walmart. The lady glue the nail and acrylic to my skin and it broke obviously and ripped my skin and half of my nail off stopped for 5 years then when back when I was 18. Never really had any problems like that. Then last week I did my own sets and they came out pretty good for my first time but now I wanna do poly gel soon.

Had same nail-problem (Thin/heavy-breaking)! Eating/drinking real orange everyday helped! Also Kalcium-Tabletts. Funfact they grow faster, too!!!🥰 Found it out by accident. 🤣 Had much Oranges & make juice out of it bc. I was over eating them. After 1,5 week = best nails I every had!!!😍😍😍😁Doing it since 6 y. now. I consum daily cirtus fruits. (Zitrone, Orange, Mandarine). Also tryed & can't recomend: strenghing nail polish & fake nails. Both make nails unflexible -> easier to break & cuts off air + blood zirculation, the nail need to grow healthy. (Also tryed Vitamin-C tabletts but they dont work like real fruits!🤷♂️) Hope this helps you, darling!!! 🥰🥰🥰🐒

naomi don't worry, it probably burns in the lamp because of your thin nails, you just need to let them grow a bit stronger, and if it burns too much, for now just take your hand out for a second and then put them in again: it should be better

You should try out sns dipping powder nail. There are some good and cheap ones on amazon and it doesn't damage your nails as much.

Horror experience: so, my nails are kinda sensitive and after a long time i went to get gel nails, and the dude who did my nails took off the form SO AGGRESSIVELY (or smth was wrong with the form idk) that (a little more than) half of my nail just said good-bye and came off. After a little blood and traumatic realization i got home with nearly half a nail on my pointing finger. Since then my nail grew back and i use special products that make my nails a bit thicker and useable.
Tomorrow actually is the last day of my basic nail tech class jejeje and 3 day ago I've done my own nail the actually look cute but it took ages jajajaja

as a nail tech I can tell you there's not such thing as nails that can't have gel or acrylics based on their damage or shape or size:) the only reason someone shouldn't have nails on is when they're infected. I've seen much worse nails, yours are just fine! So don't worry, it all depends on nail tech if they have enough skills and knowledge

Ich gehe alle drei Wochen zur Maniküre und lasse mir Gelnägel machen. Am Anfang waren meine Nägel auch dünn und brachen schnell ab, aber ich nahm dann zusätzlich Vitamintabletten (A-Z, die kriegt man in jedem Supermarkt) und voilà meine Nägel wurden fester und nun brechen sie nicht mehr 💅✨✨✨✨✨
I did such a hack job the first time i did it. Parts were thin. Shit broke off. After the 3rd time I made sure they were all thick. I learned how to file. I still have a hard time sizing dual forms because I have triangle nails -.- I basically do a slightly bigger dual form and then “fill” the parts by my cuticle. 1/10 times I don’t press hard enough and they lift at the tip of my nail. I avoid air bubbles by squeezing the tube onto the form. Then pat it down with the brush and alcohol. I’m still learning /).(\ this shit is hard. The first time I did it, it took me HOURS

One time I was getting acrylic nails removed cause I was about to start school (and they have a no acrylic policy) and the guy was so rough when taking them off that 2 of my real nails came off too and I had loads of swelling round my fingers ✌️✌️ I couldn’t write for a week lol
