The fact that a young Lass like Dawn recognizes both Hulk Hogan and Mr. T makes me like her even more. Great reaction to a great movie, either this or the next one is my favourite Rocky film.
Mickey didn't set up the fights. He just selected strong fighters that weren't the absolute strongest. Set ups are arranging with the opponents that they intentionally lose.
Yeah, not "set up" (which means to determine the fight from the start)...... Mick simply handpicked fighters who would "most likely" lose the fight in general. Kind of taking the number 4 contender as the "opponent" instead of the number 1 contender. Still "good"... just not "good enough at this time", sort of matches.
@@Dularr *NOT Set-Up's* this is very common in Boxing where Managers or Promoters choose the fights that best benefit their fighter. Once they become champions there are sometimes mandatory opponents that many chaps have turned down for bigger paydays or a host of other reasons, but they're stripped of the belt
@@Dularrno that’s not a set up it’s called hand picked . He fought various contenders and some discretionary opponents. Joe Czack his 2nd title defense was a top prospect mentioned in the first Rocky movie as a possible opponent for Apollo Creed and we see Rocky knocked out the Germany champion in his 4th defense. They were fighters who Rocky would most likely beat . Rocky legitimately won his matches .
Mr T was one of the most recognisable faces of the 1980s. As well as starring in Rocky III and The A Team, he had his own cartoon, action figure and ice lolly!
Adrian's character arc in the first three Rocky movies is remarkable. She goes from being mousy, shy, and almost timid to a fiercely strong stoic woman who helps her broken husband find his footing again. Rocky gave Adrian a newfound sense of confidence and determination, and Talia Shire communicates this beautifully. Her delivery of that speech on the beach is brutally moving: "You're the one that's gotta settle it!... Get rid of it! Because when all the smoke is clear and everyone's through chanting your name, it's just gonna be us! And you can't live like this! WE can't live like this!" And let's take a moment to recognize that Mr. T is actually a genuine, down to earth good guy in real life.
I'm sure someone already mentioned it but that Rocky statue is real. He is an inspiration and a hero to the city even though he is fictional character.
Song was specifically made for this movie. They were having a tough time coming up with a song (Survivor) so Stallone let them watch a raw cut of the movie. The group took notice when Apollo said “Eye of the Tiger” and that is what they built the song off of.
Well originally the song “your the best around “was going to be set for this movie but . That got used for “The karate kid” as this got picked for rocky 3 after Stallone heard it
According to an interview given by Mr. T, he attended the movie's premiere with his mother. During the scene where he yells lurid remarks at Adrian, his mother turned to him and said, "I did not raise you to talk to a lady like that." She then stormed out of the theater.
I heard this. I deff think it’s pretty excessive, it’s a movie it’s scripted lol but I respect it. It goes to show the values and morals of the previous generation that we see so scarcely nowadays
In real life, Mr T was a physical beast. In the army, he got in trouble and for punishment they had him cut trees with an axe. He cut down 75!😮😮😮 He then won a old televised TV program, the tough Man contest. He was an ex club bouncer!
Great reaction, Dawn! Adrian's Golden Speech to Rocky is a great example of her character arc. It is one of the highlights of the movie for me. Some FYI for you: - "Eye of the Tiger" was specifically written for this movie. - Mr. T got his start here. He moved on to star in a TV series called "The A-Team". His quote "I pity the fool!" became very popular. - Mr. T in real life is the opposite of Clubber Lang. He is a real class act. He took his mother to the "Rocky 3" Premiere and she was very angry with him. She said "I didn't raise you to behave like THAT!" What a dear woman.
I can't explain HOW cool it is to see a today's young woman dig a classic from MY youth so much 😅.. really really cool..(most kids today just don't get it)..great reaction.. NYC sends love😀✌️🤘🔥🤘

Mr T was such a huge celebrity back then.. What a character. I heard he was in the military police and later became a bouncer before getting into acting
He also had his own Saturday morning cartoon, called simply "Mr. T", and a comic book, called "Mr.T and The T-Force". And he guest-starred in multiple TV shows and several movies.
The difference in size between Stallone and Hulk Hogan is legit, Stallone isn't actually a massive guy (look at him next to Kurt Russell in Tango & Cash), while Hulk *is* pretty huge (until you see him against Andre the Giant)
What makes these movies continuously work is that they are set in boxing, but they are character stories. Rocky is continually growing and changing as his life and career goes on.
Mr. T is awesome. He took his mother to the premiere. She walked out during the stature argument scene. She said she didn’t raise her boy to talk to women the way he did Adrien. I don’t think he’s played a villain since.
Mr T was a huge icon in the 80s, all the kids including myself loved him. He was in the A team a popular tv show and was in a bunch of movies mainly playing a good guy.
Your reaction to this film was absolute joy to watch. Your enthusiasm is infectious and you have a really cheeky laugh. Keep them coming my dear Your awesome 😊❤❤❤
The painting at the end was done by Leroy Neiman who was a popular artist that did sports themed paintings in the 70s and 80s. He has a small part in this film as the ring announcer during the Thunder Lips fight. Sly wanted to cast an actual boxer as Clubber but when they trained together he hit so hard that Stallone was afraid for his health so he got Mr T who was working as a bouncer in a Chicago nightclub and bodyguard for boxer Leon Spinx at the time.
I know a guy who was a professional hip-hop/break dancer in clubs in LA back in the day. He said he knew Mr. T as a bouncer in one of the clubs. Even then, as my friend claims, Mr. T was very ambitious and had plans to become famous. He succeeded. Rocky III was his big break.
I love how Dawn literally predicted every story beat of this film and relished when she was right. She is so entertaining in her reactions!...love it! Mr. T became a big star on TV after this film in the Stephen J. Cannel series, The A Team (1983-7) as B.A. Baracus.
Mr. T won a bouncer competition. He then was cast in Rocky III, which really started his career. After Rocky he was on the TV show "The A-Team". Because of his unique look and style, he became the most recognizable member of the A-Team and has retained a large following ever since. He also did a few other films (DC Cab, etc.), and he had his own animated TV show and comics and figures. For a few years in the 80s everything was Mr. T.
Yes, the song was recorded after the band saw the movie. And the line that kept sticking out to them was when Apollo said you need to get back the eye of the tiger. Sylvester Stallone originally wanted to use Queen"s another One bites the dust, but queen turned him down.
A grown man wailing in sorrow is one of the most disturbing sounds I can think of hearing. That being said, Rocky III perfectly continues the through theme of the whole Rocky franchise. "I can take everything you have, 100% of your best, directly in the face, and I will still come for you, and I'll still be standing when you fall."
Yeah this was Mr T's first movie role, and if I recall, his mum didn't like that he played the bad guy and said something along the lines of, I didn't raise you to be like that lol, anyway, I don't think he played the bad guy in any other roles after that, which is kinda a shame because he did it so well lol.
This was the first Rocky movie I got to actually see in the theater. I think I was 12. We didn't have sources like IMDB and such, so seeing Hulk & Mr T were total surprises. Hulk was just really starting to run roughshod over the rest of wrestling and Mr T's TV show was amazing at the time. Bringing them both into a movie at that time was not even thought possible. The amazing thing to me with this series is that they could have produced 10 films in the time they did the first five. It could have been a true money grab, but they didn't. Sure - they kept them coming, but they had substance and stood on their own as solid films. I think Rocky IV was the last (during the run) of the good ones, they really tried hard not to totally sell out and produce a bad product simply for the money. I totally respect that.
Apollo saying "There is no tomorrow, there is no tomorrow!" makes me tear up now. What a legend Carl Weathers was 😥 Sylvester Stallone has that painting from the end in his home
You spoke about learning more about Boxing. As exciting as Rocky is, there is nothing like the real thing. " Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face"-Mike Tyson. There is a great Documentary called When We Were Kings. This is the buildup to a Title fight in 1974 between George Foreman and Muhammed Ali in Zaire, Africa. I would also recommend watching two great fights. Both being Ali vs Frazier. The 1st in Madison Square Garden(aka Fight Of The Century) 1971. And the Thrilla In Manila. The two rivals coming close to death in the ring. Just a few suggestions to get started.
Mr. T was the favorite character in the A Team, one of the biggest tv shows of the eighties but he was everywhere- guest starring in other shows, he had his own cartoon, he recorded albums for kids and he had his own cereal. People loved him because he was so positive and friendly despite the characters he plays. He grew up in a really tough project (council estates in the UK) in Chicago and grew up to be a bodyguard of Michael Jackson and others. That got him into acting. He was really close to his mother and when he took her to the premiere of this movie she got upset by how Clubber acted and said "I didn't raise you to act this way" and Mr. T teamed up with Hulk Hogan to wrestle but it was promotional and not something he did for very long.
I Pity the Fool who doesn't like Rocky 3! Great reaction Dawn Marie! I always get all teary eyed at Mickey's death and that's no jibber jabber! Thanks for sharing Dawn Marie ❤️💛🥊🥊
Fun reaction by one of the most entertaining people on You Tube. This is such a crowd pleasing movie. Action, laughs, sadness, and of course a fight to end the movie. You knew what was going to happen early on but who cares. The audience knew the ending before this started but that’s not the point of Rocky. It’s about having a good time, life lessons, and an ending where the Good Guys win. I know you will enjoy Rocky 4
I saw this when I was in high school, when it first came out on vhs. The feeling is guys had after this! We were pumped! We were hyped and ready to go! Eye of the tiger, man!
After Mr. T got out of the Army in the late 70s, he went to work as a bouncer in Chicago, and quickly became the doorman, wearing the jewelry left behind by customers (some accidentally, and some as a result of being in a fight in the club and being forcefully ejected by the bouncers), which kept them from having to be let back in the club to claim their items. His look and personality got him noticed, and after a couple of years, he became a body guard for wealthy celebrities, which resulted in him moving to Los Angeles. He began to go to auditions, but he wasn't hired as an actor until he was cast in a very early reality show - a kind of "Ninja Warrior"-type show for bouncers called "America's Toughest Bouncer" - which he won and which REALLY got him noticed. That led to him being cast as a regular member of the TV show The A-Team, which skyrocketed his popularity and sold a ton of merch, and eventually as his role as Clubber Lang. That established him as an actor and he had several of his own shows, including his own cartoon show. He worked steadily into the 90s before pulling back from acting in the 2000s.
26:48 "Gettin' very samesy" reminds me of a bit from the tv show "Taxi", where Tony is explaining the Rocky movies to Alex. Alex complains that they're all the same, and Tony replies "That's why they're numbered, so you can tell them apart!". 😄
"I don't think I've ever looked at, like, a couple and been, em, in love with them as a couple." It's definitely time for _The Thin Man._ Also, it's nice to see the Marx Brothers on the wall in this new space.
@@DawnMarieX If you love GRoucho Marx a much as it seems, You should look up the TV series he hosted called 'YOU bet your life" Its a simple game show and Groucho just is hilarious when he goes off script when he interviews the people who play the game
Mr. T became famous by winning "The world's toughest bouncer" competition. Because of this, the Rocky producers decided to make Rocky 3 with Mr. T. Another producer then created "The A Team" where Mr. T was a regular character. It was in Rocky 3 where Mr T met Hulk Hogan and they became good friends.
I'm so glad you asked all those questions at the end - are all the movies gonna be the same. It's like you're setting yourself up for Rocky 4, that's gonna knock you on your ass!
You were so excited about this movie 🎥 it's great ! To see another generation lovin' these movies is just ausome! But, now your stuck! You have to watch the rest of them! Love 💕 ya Dawn.
Mr T was a bouncer at a Chicago nightclub and was then cast in a reality TV show about tough bouncers. He gained fame there and was then in this movie and an American TV show call The A Team.
Eye of the Tiger was written and performed by members of Survivor after Queen turned down Stallone for use of Another One Bites The Dust. The first Rocky wasn't a boxing movie, it was a love story about a boxer and a shy girl. Stallone tried to sell the picture to several studios for a few years before he was actually able to get it picked up. Butkus is Stallone's actual dog he raised from birth. Yes, real prize fights are exciting, you would have a blast, I wish I could take you to one. Anyway, loved the review, love you, take care and stay safe ❤️
I got to watch fights with Mr T once. He is the best guy I ever met. So good to everyone, looking after a friend who was a quadriplegic. Patient and kind. I root for him in this movie. 😊
Dawn, you probably know Mr T from the '80 TV series "The 'A' Team" where he played B.A. Baracus. I can't wait to see your reaction to 'Rocky 4', I think that it's one of the best in the series.
These always bring back memories. A friend and I would sometimes get out his old NES to play the original Punchout boxing game and after an hour or so we’d end up going out and renting as many Rocky movies available at the store and have a marathon.
My favorite Rocky film! Even more enjoyable with your reactions Darlin! I do believe the song was made for the film but the band was about to release their new album and included it in that album, as well as the soundtrack.
I take back my “Worst Rocky reaction ever” comment from your Rocky reaction. I see that you have become a real fan. All the movies add up to one of the deepest and filled out characters and couples in cinematic history. I love them too!
RIP to Carl Weathers (Apollo) and Burt Young (Paulie). The beach scene with Stallone and Talia Shire (adrian) always gives me chills, she delivers such a good monologue and her character beside Rocky is so amazing how she starts out timid and shy but very sweet to a very strong woman who adapts to living with a fighter, and she's jsut as strong a fighter as he is, but in a different way. Beach monologue gives me chills every time. Hoping I can find my Adrian someday.
This was the first Rocky I ever saw when it was first released. I had to work out the rags to riches from the montagé. Then watching Rocky 1 was strange to a 10 year old 🤣🤣. That will always be my favourite one 😎
Mr. T is best known for starring in the classic film D.C. Cab. He was also in a TV show called The A Team, and he had a Saturday Morning cartoon where he was the title character.
Mr. T attended the premiere of Rocky 3 with his mother. During the scene where he yells lurid remarks at Adrian, his mother turned to him and said "I did not raise you to talk to a lady like that." She then stormed out of the theatre. I actually don't know for sure if that is truth or urban legend but it is pretty widely spoken of. I do know first-hand that Mr T has a video singing a song about 'treating your mother right'.
Mr. T was very popular in the 80s. Rocky III introduction Mr. T to the world. Mr. T has been in a few movies. He was in one of the early wrestle manias fighting side by side with Hulk Hogan. He's most famous for his TV series The A-Team. He also had an animated Saturday morning cartoon show called Mr. T where he and these gymnast kids solve crimes. I also remember eating Mr. T cereal when I was a kid. -OG
All the Rocky movies go together, if you decide to watch the next one, watch them all. They're like chapters in the book of Rocky's life. Especially if you're going to watch the Creed movies it's important to watch all the Rocky movies first. I really don't want to say much more than that about them. I hope you continue with them, your reactions are quite enjoyable. Hope to see them all on here.
The first time, I remember Mr. T. I was watching the best body guard contest on a Saturday afternoon. It consisted of multiple events. The one event everyone talked about that saw it. The obstacle course to get from the back of the bar to outside the front door of the bar. Mr. T had run the course the fastest. He had an average time up to the last two obstacles (to exit the front doors and stop the time upon reaching the sidewalk outside the bar). He topped everyone time by running thru the doors, thus that was one of those, did you see that on the television over the weekend?. I believed it made the Wild World of Sports back then.
Originally the song for this movie was going to be "You're The Best Around" by Joe Esposito, but as much as Sly liked the song he didn't feel it really fit the movie. So he went to the band Survivor to come up with a new song, and they wrote "Eye of the Tiger" for the movie. The other song (the 1st one) ended up in "The Karate Kid" instead, and fits way better I might add.
The fact that a young Lass like Dawn recognizes both Hulk Hogan and Mr. T makes me like her even more.

He was really close to his mother and when he took her to the premiere of this movie she got upset by how Clubber acted and said "I didn't raise you to act this way"
and Mr.
I think I heard one time, back in the 1980s. Mr t, was Sylvester Stallone, bodyguard.
That was how Stallone knew Mr t
Best film reactions on TH-cam! Have missed you as I have been looking after mum whos been poorly.
26:48 "Gettin' very samesy" reminds me of a bit from the tv show "Taxi", where Tony is explaining the Rocky movies to Alex. Alex complains that they're all the same, and Tony replies "That's why they're numbered, so you can tell them apart!". 😄
"I don't think I've ever looked at, like, a couple and been, em, in love with them as a couple."
It's definitely time for _The Thin Man._
Also, it's nice to see the Marx Brothers on the wall in this new space.
They need to be where everyone can see them! 😍
@@DawnMarieX If you love GRoucho Marx a much as it seems, You should look up the TV series he hosted called
'YOU bet your life" Its a simple game show and Groucho just is hilarious when he goes off script when he interviews the people who play the game
Yes, watch The Thin Man. You will fall in love with them.
Aye I like you. You actually pay attention and not miss important things by talking over it. Thanks for this reaction.
I'm so glad you asked all those questions at the end - are all the movies gonna be the same. It's like you're setting yourself up for Rocky 4, that's gonna knock you on your ass!
Dawn you've escaped from the cupboard! You truly have the eye of the tiger 🥊
I really like your reactions to good movies. It’s brings a smile to my face.
You were so excited about this movie 🎥 it's great ! To see another generation lovin' these movies is just ausome! But, now your stuck! You have to watch the rest of them! Love 💕 ya Dawn.
What an awesome reaction to this movie, probably one of my favorites, thank you. 😎❤️🙏
Best reaction to this movie that I've seen. Dawn, you're just awesome.
It always makes me cry when Rocky loses his manager. xx
Great reaction. Love the commercial at the end. My Favorite Rocky movie is Balboa. Then Creed. Looking forward to watching more Rocky with you.
These always bring back memories. A friend and I would sometimes get out his old NES to play the original Punchout boxing game and after an hour or so we’d end up going out and renting as many Rocky movies available at the store and have a marathon.
Can't wait for Rocky IV now.
Dawn Marie, I'm loving the flow of the hair. Huge fan.
Still one of my favorite movies. And yes, "Eye of the Tiger" was written for this movie. The band Survivor wrote songs for this movie and the next.
This is my favourite one in the franchise! Great reaction. ❤
THE HULKSTER!!!!!🎉
_What'cha gonna do, when Hulkamania runs wild on you?_
Loved this reaction you were spot on with the storyline keep up with the great 😊
My favorite Rocky film! Even more enjoyable with your reactions Darlin!
I do believe the song was made for the film but the band was about to release their new album and included it in that album, as well as the soundtrack.
I was on my back when you said "is that the guy from the Snickers advert" 🤣🤣🤣
I take back my “Worst Rocky reaction ever” comment from your Rocky reaction. I see that you have become a real fan. All the movies add up to one of the deepest and filled out characters and couples in cinematic history. I love them too!
Rocky 4 is my favorite of the bunch.
That will always be my favourite one 😎
another awesome reaction. People sobbed in the theater when Micky died. I miss seeing movies in a theater with people that arent distracted by phones.
Mr. T is best known for starring in the classic film D.C. Cab. He was also in a TV show called The A Team, and he had a Saturday Morning cartoon where he was the title character.
Dawn Marie every day! Yay!!
Dawn, you have the best sense of humour!
That picture at the end credits is an original Leroy Nieman. He was the ring announcer with the prominent mustache. ✌️❤️
Those reactions… Welcome to the Rocky family Dawn❤
-OG
Can you imagine watching this for the first time at 11 years old. It make me box the trees 😅
I'm going to watch you, watch Rocky III on my lunch break. What a weird world we're living in ahahahaha
i love Dawns laugh
All the Rocky movies go together, if you decide to watch the next one, watch them all. They're like chapters in the book of Rocky's life. Especially if you're going to watch the Creed movies it's important to watch all the Rocky movies first. I really don't want to say much more than that about them. I hope you continue with them, your reactions are quite enjoyable. Hope to see them all on here.
The actor who played Paulie was a boxer in real life.
his performances in all 4 movies was way underrated.
Yeah, Burt Young was not only a boxer, but a champion boxer! (during his time in either the U.S. Army or the U.S. Marines, I forget which).
@quwykxz in the marines. He win 32 out of 34 bouts.
@@imthewolf1 he had an exhibition match with Muhammad Ali and was friends with Ali too.
@@quwykxzhe was trained by Cus D'Amato, who trained Floyd Patterson and Mike Tyson.
Mr. T is from the A-team.
Nobody and I mean nobody could have played a better villain than Mr. T did for clubber Lang, This roll was freaking iconic dude was awesome
Even though Rocky may be the champ, he is always the underdog.
😆 Dawn is the best!... I pity the fool that says otherwise.
