That is a common issue with the 722.9, and the 722.6 had the same acting issue from 2-1 on the V12s as well. Take it to the MB dealership and tell them to update the software. Did you see if MB has a software update for the transmission? Wife has a 2016 GLC and it would hesitate in 2nd gear when you came out of a turn. It was similar to what you are experiencing. MB came out with a transmission software update and it took care of the problem.
I don’t know if someone else is such a weirdo as I am, but for me it takes years to actually subscribe to a channel, which means that channel that I subbed, it’s a channel that I’m finally interested in watching every single video, and congratulations Mike, you just earned my super rare sub…
I bet ProClip makes a wireless phone charging mount for your car. They tend to mount in between dash trim pieces rather than directly on a vent. Could get it hard wired so there would be minimal eye sore from cables cluttering your interior cabin.
Your trunk space issues is only a problem in these fully optioned/upper market cars that are outfitted with the Burmester High End 3-D surround sound system. The subwoofer and its housing occupy what is ordinarily a totally open space symmetrical to trunks right side. That soundsystem, when fully engaged in its 3-D setting with a new/clean CD (yes its a throwback... but trust) of either classical or a really nuanced piece of music will give you the best sound experience you've ever had... anywhere. A totally worthwhile sacrifice for a dirty old golf bag haha. Great car... love the red wrap... great call on that.
100% agree. I actually use my old CD collection in mine - CDs have a fidelity level far, far above what your Bluetooth phone is feeding the system. I have the Burmester High End 3-D system and have had other top systems (Levinson, B&O, Bose) and none come close to the Burmester High End.
Wrong? Mazda's wrap looks like Mercedes red. Without German auto technology japs still be making wheel barrows and bicycles instead of cars they had to copy German technology before WW2 during WW2 and post WW2. Before that time they made nothing but rice patties.
As for the reflection of the vents...have you thought about carbon fiber covers for all the vents...maybe any chrome in there...to make it black and red? I don't know how just those 2 vents being black would look but that would most likely fix the reflection issue. I wish I had that car and those issues...lol. Sharp doesn't even come close to explaining how it looks in that red and that body style. I'm not big on the lowering, as where I live if it's that low it's rubbing like a "teenager's rice burner in a parking lot filled with raised speed breaks"...lol. Drives around here can wreck even standard stance cars like my wife's Camry...not my Silverado 6 inch lifted..lol. BUT, it's a good day every time I get to see that car. One of these days....... Take care and Merry Christmas from central Alabama.
Why would anybody want a 4,800 pound AMG coupe that costs as much as a 911 GT3 but is slower than an M340i… Car definitely looks great but for a quarter million it needs to offer more.
@@AutoVlogOfficialBecause it's a far better car in real world everyday driving than either of them, and in fact almost any other car in the world, in my opinion.
Sound engineer here. Is there a gain adjustment on the mic? It sounds like it’s clipping. Try turning down the gain on the mic if possible, or place it further from your mouth (although that will also introduce more noise and crappier voice quality)
Man, I love the exhaust setup of your AMG! Awesome videos! Can you give us a little more sound clips with open valves at idle? Love it!!! Keep up the great work!
Your car is absolutely beautiful! Every angle, the color, and the interior is just perfect. Roll with the quirks, man. Everyone else is lusting for this car! I have a 2003 CL600 twin turbo. I've had it for six years. I drove it 500 miles over the xmas holiday, and it is still the best car I have ever owned! The interior looks brand new, every feature still works (including the windshield washer). It will throw your toupee into the back seat when you goose it, and it is the epitome of THE grand cruiser. (My trunk will hold four golf bags, but I've never tried to golf) Thank you for the video.
Everyone has an opinion of the best this or that. But this car is far from the best in any category. Big engine,a lot of HP, loud exhaust but it's heavy and unreliable. The Lexus LC 500 is leaps and bounds ahead of this.
Totally agree on the mirror reflection.....this is very dangerous as a driver needs to be able to rely on what he or she sees in a split second. In the video the reflection looked massive. This needs to be addressed by the manufacturer.
The reflection issue is really annoying, and I'd have to sell up on that basis! Here in the UK I have a daily, 2010 W204 Amg line. Its nothing like how you've described the S class. Which is crazy!
I was going to mention the mic but you did it for me :). In future if you have to use external mic for whatever reason, maybe record your voice at home and put it in as voice over. Might not be perfect because of lip sync and all, but probably better than external mic.
I thinly issue is it’s to much red. Red calipers, red interior red exterior idk. Change the caliper color to the carbon ceramic burnt orange might help.
You inspired me to start youtubing my car adventures. I didnt think it would be possible for a middle aged dude who doesnt go to meets or buy a new lambo every week to actually find his audience on YT, but you proved to me it can be done. Thanks!
I actually have the S5 50 coupe 2016 I actually love the car just like you said one of my things I don’t like is the sunroof doesn’t go back. Number two remote start it’s an option when you first buy the car unless you want to keep the MB system and that’s a little expensive. I did put a valve exhaust on my car. I really enjoy it. The comfort is awesome but I do miss having a four-door S class for the backseat option, but this is by far my favorite Benz. I wish I could put it up and save itas a driver, not rich enough yet. Enjoy your videos as usual good luck in your new adventure of life please be careful in your travel have a wonderful holiday.
It's good to be happy with your car. I'm happy with mine. For me it's a joy to drive and I love the inside set up. I have a 2017 and I hope to have it for many more years. I enjoy your videos. Keep on keeping on.
A quick and simple way to find out if the window tint is causing the reflection in the side view mirrors is roll the windows down and see if the reflection is still there.
Yes, How else can you find the cause. I am sure the reflection will still be there, because it's too hard to believe the tint would be the cause of the reflection.
Agree 100% on all points, although I do not mount my phone. Even the 9 speed has a tendency to jump when going very slow to almost stop, then pulling away. For me the big irritant is the golf clubs. I remove the driver and 3 wood. Never had to do that!!
I remember looking at one at the dealer in germany when this type was brand new. I sat in it and already found the broken plastic trunk release handle in the foot room!
I really don’t like RED cars🚗 But i gotta say,i love the look of your S65.Even before the wrap and with the alloys you had on it previously. And the red interior is beautiful
First world problems indeed. I have my phone and tablet mounts drilled into the lower center tunnel and screwed in. The arm that comes up doesn't really bothers me and doesn't rob any leg space either. Obviously if you don't want to drill holes in your ride you could get the seat bolt mounted ones which is what I would consider here. The location of the battery is a huge issue if you do run into a situation where you need a boost. I'd have a shop run wires from the battery to a more accessible location for this and also install a switch for disconnecting power likewise. Check the oil level in the transmission - I know it sounds dumb but it may need a top off or it's time for an ATF change.
When I signed everything and shook hands with the purchase of my 24' Wrangler, they suddenly told me that I only have one key fob. I had to purchase a second key fob, which I did, for about three hundred dollars. Also, I bought this 24' Wrangler from a Cadillac dealership with about 980 miles on it. All said I'm ok with the Jeep and the mods it came with but not happy with the Cadillac dealership I purchased it from. I'm 68. This Jeep was a check off my automotive bucket list. A Cadillac and a Mustang are the final two. What do you think the chances are that I'll be buying a Cadillac from my local dealership? I guess a Mustang will be next on the bucket list.
For the vent reflection issue have you tried rolling down the windows to see if still there? I only say this because you said it may be due to the tint.
I have 2012 c63 w204 an i have noticed the same thing with gearbox getting confused about weither to go 1st of 2nd! Drive in manual save the problem lol.small price to pay miles of smiles
You need to reset the transmission, it’s very easy, switch the car off, then out the key in position 1 without turning the car on. Now keep the accelerator pressed down completely for 30 seconds. Then switch the car off and wait 2 minutes. Now your transmission should have reset. Now drive your car for 15 minutes in sport mode. It’s a common issue with Mercedes learning transmissions.
Some cars are worth the hassle. I had a high-milage BMW E60 M5 for 3 years, and the problems were endless, but when it ran, it RAN. I had a lot of smiles and laughs in that car
Nice problems to have I suppose. I’ll try not to think about it when I driving my crappy Chevy that I still owe 20k on. But I watch your videos to dream!
You’re right! I have a CL and it’s a bit more roomier in terms of space than the S65. Plus my battery compartment is much more accessible in the trunk. Regardless the s65 is a beaut! From one v12 owner to another, there’s nothing quite like that feeling.
Thank you for this video. And yes, you have a point with your issues. But since you asked for comments, here is mine. Take a watch, a house, a piece of furniture, a car in our case, audio electronics and the like. Products in that price range are generally hand me downs from millionaires or at the least from people who don't have to care about these issues. In your case, they would just take their Range Rover or their Continental on days when the sun reflects too much. Or whatever the issue might be in a particular case. In other words, "normal" people already know that there is going to be some compromises when they buy a vehicle or any other product. Because if they don't want compromises, they would just go Masonry or West Coast Customs and pay them to delete any and all annoying shortcomings. It's like you buy an old mansion at auction because it was cheap and then complain about the heating bill for the 25000 square feet. I had the same issue with the batteries. It was annoying as heck to replace them, very expensive and time consuming. Because it wasn't designed for me to replace. That wasn't a priority at all. I was supposed to pay my local dealer $1300 to do this exact job. It is not Mercedes s fault that I'm a cheapo and can't really afford vehicles like that. I mean, I hope you sense I am not that serious, but you get my point. With cars like that, you take your G Wagon to do to our shopping, your 911 or ZL 1 to visit your in laws on the weekend and the S65 you only drive to Sunday service with your wife. That is for what these vehicles are designed for.
I have a 2016 S550 coupe which the trunk space should be the same and I play a lot of golf. I take the "wood" clubs out of the bag and they fit nicely in the trunk by themselves out of the bag. You can also just set them inside of the car if needed. I agree that the trunk space is limited.
The ultimate V8 AMG is the limited production of the W213 E63s Edition 1. It’s the only AMG you ever will need. Has everything you would want from power to supercar performance with one of the nicest interior and can hold 5 people comfortably with 3 large luggage in the trunk. Would love to see you review one.
Check and see if you have the latest transmission software. I had mine updated. Sports mode is much smoother and gained a mode called Agility. It’s between Sport and Economy. It also will not drop to 1st gear and winds the gears out higher before shifting.
I have a Toyota with over 200,000 miles on it. Bought it new. It has never left me stranded. It has never needed a repair. Oil changes and tires is all it has needed. It squeaks a little but that`s all. It gets over 35 miles to a gallon.
Had the same problem with the vent mount on my C Class, just a piece of paper just enough to stop it swivelling when you turn a corner is all that is needed, I get your gripe!
The battery is directly behind the back seat on the left hand side that back panel is simple to get to, the two plastic pins pull out then slide the panel out.
solution 1 for reflections in mirror: dark mat red the whole heat fan on each side, solution 2: with generic cars have the same problem in sport mode which is no different then regular mode but just taking out the 1st and 2nd gear, just have it normal, you have enough power. others are really petty, if I had that lifestyle and that car: golf clubs would not touch my god mobile, just seems like I'm copying other Di..s.. The battery is questionable but could it be custom relocated or customized in general to make it not a problem.
...I further agree with all other complaints....the transmission is another shocker but the other points are indeed annoying as well especially if you consider the price for the vehicle....As the owner pointed rightfully out, even less expensive cars do not have these issues, which means all of the complaints are indeed completely avoidable.
lol for the transmission issue at 5:39 I have the 9G and it does the same thing. I barely noticed it because I drive the car in manual mode 90% of the time. I only put it in automatic if I'm pulling out on a 55mph road so I can get to 60 in the fun little 4 seconds. I know exactly what you're talking about though as a 2019 c43 amg owner. Also one huge thing I noticed is after getting a transmission service with new fluid my 1st to 2nd got significantly smoother. Maybe yours needs a fluid change. I love my car my only complaint is that I don't have air suspension and the ability to raise it during Winter when it snows.
Be very careful with vent mounts for phone holders. Ruined my E class vent with it and my brother ruined his M3 vent. It was a very expensive mistake when the vent slat came off and my phone came crashing down
Most Benz batteries are in the boot the reason being most people park nose in a parking space if you have a flat battery is so easy for the roadside assistance to access the battery and put jump leads on or replace it you just remove the cover for the spare and it’s to the top right not in some hot well in the engine bay it’s easier.
Hey, are you getting the new CLE 53? I’d love to see you mod it like the C63 back in the days and that’s the actual replacement to that car that is not a hybrid.
ZF stock tuning is sport mode leaves in first only “only” when it actually comes to a complete stop otherwise all other movements including the rolling of a stop sign the car will be in second now if you stomp it it will kick down to first for me as a speed enthusiast with a 700whp 650i TT 4.4L V8 BMW I like that is gives me options.
Regular non-AMG version is just fine smoothly cruising balanced GT where is no excessive power kicking into rear differential, no annoying engine & exhaust noise, reasonable wheels, bigger RW mirrors, and circular steering wheel....Mercedes is wrong making AMG versions of non-sport models because it turns them into contradicting double-characters....
Love you Mike, been a sub since the early years , sorry you're going through personal stuff, same here, love to meet you one day gran some beers n shoot the breeze...... Keep uploading ...love you man💪🏻👊🏻🤟🏻
When you put a wrap on your car, do you have to change anything with the registration or insurance? If you change the color for example, your Mercedes went from silver to red.
Sounds like its the same as it is some audi gearboxes. The funktion is that its like u have 2 gearboxes in 1. First gearbox puts in the gears 1,3,5,7 and the second gearbox puts in the gears 2,4,6. When u driving on D and the car shifts to gear 3 the second gearbox already have put in the gear 4 because the car thinks that u will drive normaly but if u then steps on the gas the gearbox needs to start over and go from gear 4 to gear 2. Thats why it feels like it dont respond when it actualy just trying to change gear. When u drive in sport the car dont think u drive as normal and suppose u will rev harder and quicker and stays longer on the gear to really know if it should gear up or down depending on the rev. Its a gearbox with a system that makes gearchanges very quick. If u change your driving alot from soft normal driving to sport and also drive hard the computer change the gearbox settings to your driving style. This can make the gearchanges to be hard even on soft driving in D. Specially when u go from stop up to gear 2. If u feel the gearbox not really soft and comfortable on D driving then u should reset your gearbox to fabric setting. It will be a very diffrent gearbox when u do that and make it more smoooooth
You could turn it where it will adjust at and take care of that problem I have a 2016 S550 AMG can I tell you no issues with hesitation it's just as fast my opinion I like to S550 AMG it's it's more smoother more closer and you don't have them issues with seeing reflection through your mirrors if your windows are tinted or not
Interesting: I have never seen my air vents reflected in the mirrors. Mine is black, so that could be part of it. But I suspect it is your tinted windows. And it really is a GT, not a full-on sports car like a 911. But a lot of us want the GT experience.

just be proud of your car Mike because it is the most beautiful one they have ever made and what power that car has, really a beautiful car
Would have never known that it was wrapped. Fantastic wrap and a beautiful vehicle.
The side view mirror reflection is very odd....Ive never seen that before
I have a Toyota with over 200,000 miles on it. Bought it new. It has never left me stranded. It has never needed a repair. Oil changes and tires is all it has needed. It squeaks a little but that`s all. It gets over 35 miles to a gallon.
Had the same problem with the vent mount on my C Class, just a piece of paper just enough to stop it swivelling when you turn a corner is all that is needed, I get your gripe!
that external mic sounds like its from the 50s lol love it
The battery is directly behind the back seat on the left hand side that back panel is simple to get to, the two plastic pins pull out then slide the panel out.
It looks like a copy of the VW CC. But at 6X the price.
solution 1 for reflections in mirror: dark mat red the whole heat fan on each side, solution 2: with generic cars have the same problem in sport mode which is no different then regular mode but just taking out the 1st and 2nd gear, just have it normal, you have enough power. others are really petty, if I had that lifestyle and that car: golf clubs would not touch my god mobile, just seems like I'm copying other Di..s.. The battery is questionable but could it be custom relocated or customized in general to make it not a problem.
I suggest stopping completely at a stop sign. The stop sign means stop and not slow down
M8 comp is far superior to this
Your sound effects when coming to the stop sign issue - amazing lol.
...I further agree with all other complaints....the transmission is another shocker but the other points are indeed annoying as well especially if you consider the price for the vehicle....As the owner pointed rightfully out, even less expensive cars do not have these issues, which means all of the complaints are indeed completely avoidable.
The BMW ZF gearbox has similar issues when approaching traffic lights, but a gearbox remap resolves that issue!!!
Awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Great video!! What wheels are those ? They look fantastic
lol for the transmission issue at 5:39 I have the 9G and it does the same thing.
It was a very expensive mistake when the vent slat came off and my phone came crashing down
The transmission on my SL63 acts the same way. Gives me the occasional head slam (or near it) when it can't pick the gear it wants to be in.
for VW or Audi I did a simple transmission reset and it fixed the shifting problems, maybe it can work here too!
Hi Mike - I had similar gearbox issues and cured it with a gearbox service - I oil degrades and can cause low speed issues
Good to see you back on track brother
I liked your R8 the best Mike, that car was awesome!!!
Ah Mike, You could just put the window down for one quick drive and figure out if it's the tinting or not. Capt. Obvious reporting in!!
Hey, are you getting the new CLE 53? I’d love to see you mod it like the C63 back in the days and that’s the actual replacement to that car that is not a hybrid.
ZF stock tuning is sport mode leaves in first only “only” when it actually comes to a complete stop otherwise all other movements including the rolling of a stop sign the car will be in second now if you stomp it it will kick down to first for me as a speed enthusiast with a 700whp 650i TT 4.4L V8 BMW I like that is gives me options.
that airvent phone holder problem is an issue among all the benzs of this era. C, GLC, E, S etc
Maybe you should have kept your R-8 for golf bag transportation? LOL
I hope you and your wife can work things out
i have this reflection too on my W205, specially at night and having the ambient light in the vents.
The mic you use, you sound like the news reported from the 90s. It's very nostalgic, lol. Dang, I am old.
Good day! I’m having issues with one of my tires and need to keep a portable inflator in the car any suggestions?
I thought you stopped making videos! Why are you back ?
You could turn it where it will adjust at and take care of that problem I have a 2016 S550 AMG can I tell you no issues with hesitation it's just as fast my opinion I like to S550 AMG it's it's more smoother more closer and you don't have them issues with seeing reflection through your mirrors if your windows are tinted or not
Oh no Mike, edit out that flatbed truck in the background 😂😂😂 Your S65 is a gorgeous car, not a bad angle in it ❤
Interesting: I have never seen my air vents reflected in the mirrors. Mine is black, so that could be part of it. But I suspect it is your tinted windows. And it really is a GT, not a full-on sports car like a 911. But a lot of us want the GT experience.
All those things that you mention would also annoy me, especially that vent reflection and the movement👍thanks Mike for another great video 👏
I had a E63 AMG and sold it because i hated the gearbox, bought a M5 F10 instead, you need DCT boxes in these cars.
