I first learned of Fred Hampton in my US History class where my teacher made it an emphasis and the whole Black Panther organization. I lived in the Bay Area/Oakland so I assume that’s why he emphasized it. I then became captivated when I would attend my schools Black Student Union (not join because I’m a Hispanic male). After high school I would purchase books, read articles and essays on Fred Hampton because I loved what he began and created. I hate the way he passed, a true tragedy or rather catastrophe. I first learned of Fred Hampton in my US History class where my teacher made it an emphasis and the whole Black Panther organization. I lived in the Bay Area/Oakland so I assume that’s why he emphasized it. I then became captivated when I would attend my schools Black Student Union (not join because I’m a Hispanic male). After high school I would purchase books, read articles and essays on Fred Hampton because I loved what he began and created. I hate the way he passed, a true tragedy or rather catastrophe. Always brings me into my emotions hearing of his passing and I didn’t even know the man, shows the power of what he was preaching.
