The Mummy had an impeccable Sofia Boutella, Tom Cruise doing his usual magic, making a character with little (if any) redeeming qualities somewhat charming, and Russel Crowe is just a riot to see. Oh, and there was the idea of the most iconic movie monsters coming to life together. Honestly, it's kind of amazing that they managed to screw all of that so thoroughly.
@@RictusHolloweye I mean, the Brendan Fraser one had its scary moments, but is remembered and beloved mostly for its funny and campy parts. It was just so easy to make something halfway decent out of it, there are even good singular parts, I don't understand how they could fail so badly.
Legion is a frikkin good horror B-Movie (I give it a solid 7/10). The "sequel" TV series loosely based on it, Dominion, was pretty good as well. The movie is more a character study. Seeing how different characters, from different backgrounds, react and deal with a situation than it is a more traditional horror. The film is highly underrated.
some people don't know that the reason he doesn't talk is due to the creator/director originally was going to play the role himself so he never made a script.
I'm with you as far as bagging on Tom Cruise, but Russell Crowe? That man is a master of the art! That scene where Jekyll turns into Hyde and Tom Cruise (playing himself with a different name yet again) suddenly finds himself trapped in a room with that human monster _should_ have put Hyde in the #1 slot instead of Ahmanet!
@@BloodyBay , Russell is indeed an amazing auteur and he owns the role he played but the woman who played the mummy should have had a bigger role than him and Cruise. It’s a movie about the mummy right.
I'm seriously wondering if it's just one writer that hates the FNAF movie. Even if it's more than one, they clearly have no idea why people love/like the games. Everything they say as a "negative" here, and in other videos, is what fans of the games wanted to see. Plus, you know, it was the highest grossing horror movie last year, so yeah.
Not really, though. The core of the games is the tension of the stalking animatronics, a relentless force that can't be reasoned with, and that can't really be opposed, as all you can do is hide and hold your ground, with no way of fighting back. Instead the movie turned them more into guardian angels and addictive presence, which really isn't what they are supposed to be. Added to it was a disconnected script that was banking more on brand recognition than anything, with a lot of winks thrown in inorganically. It grossed due to the IP, but honestly coming after two movies about animatronics going into a murderous spree, it's weird that the one movie that should have been about it avoided it completely.
FNaF was definitely not a terrible movie. Neither was Army of the Dead, Thirteen Ghosts, or Legion. The only reason they are included here, I have to believe, is to farm engagement in the comments, so well done on that.
I absolutely love Willy’s Wonderland! One of my fav! The other actors were very B rated but the concept, animatronics, and non talking Nicolas Cage makes up for everything else!
I would've liked the new Mummy more if it kept more of the original formula. There was something special about Evie and Rick and I felt the new Mummy completely stripped away what made the original special. But I would've loved to see the new mummy interacting with Evie and the gang.
The mummy would have been a better movie if they had made it about Ahmunet and not Tom Cruise's character. Even better if they hadn't tried to made her into the villain because she was not a villain.
That scene where Jekyll turns into Hyde (and the Tom Cruise Protagonist du Jour suddenly finds himself trapped in a room with a relentless human Id Monster) leaves me wanting Russell Crowe to get signed on for a 'Jekyll and Hyde' trilogy myself. Sometimes, the worst enemy people can face is the Enemy Within, and that takes on a more literal meaning when Hyde's involved. 🤔
@@BloodyBay - Crowe gave a masterful performance, but it really was just a distraction in this movie. Also the idea that he has to inject himself every couple of minutes comes across as a plot convenience just to ensure we got a moment of Hyde.

It's entirely possible to have a good (even scary) horror movie without gore, but there are a lot of average horror movies that would have benefitted from a little viscera.
The Ring. Scared my wife and I so bad, we barely slept that night, AND we had to cover the TV with a blanket. Ju-On: The Grudge would be a close second.
They've made two attempts to kickstart it, but both were made into action/adventure movies. I don't know how they keep forgetting to include horror in their horror movies.
I absolutely agree about Amunet. I was so excited to see her in the Mummy and then I watched the damn thing and she was only good thing about it. I maintain The Mummy 2017 is actually 3 movies: 1) a shoehorned Dark Universe backdoor pilot that ground the whole film to a screeching halt 2) a Tom Cruise circle jerk where Tom Cruise played Tom Cruise Tom Cruising all over the place, and 3) a movie about a Mummy somewhere in the background

Yeah, it was slow and definitely a thriller at best, but I didn't mind Imaginary! Saw it at the cinema on a double feature night. I dont think i will watch it again, though. It's a one and done.

Someone on the Internet once stated that there should be a 13 ghost television series going over each of the ghosts origins. I second that.
i think everyone who loves the movie wants that. i mean the dvd extras set it up. all we need is a good team of writers to flesh it out.
Hey hey hey now. We don’t talk crap about 13 ghosts. Stop it.

I love that any time they include 13 Ghosts on “bad” and “awful” lists the comments section makes it clear What Culture is alone in that opinion.
Had the movie on DVD and there was a bonus feature explaining the stories of the 13 ghosts, quality movie!
Of all the times I've watched Mummy(2017) is simply for Sofia Boutella
